Liam gently took Kasey's hand in his, "Yeah, luckily the poison hadn't traveled that far and Madeline was able to take the bullet out."
Liam gently took Kasey's hand in his, "Yeah, luckily the poison hadn't traveled that far and Madeline was able to take the bullet out."
Kasey nodded slowly, intertwining their fingers.
"Good. That's good. I'm glad I'm not going to die from a poisoned bullet," she joked, trying to lighten the mood.
Liam smiled but he was still worried, "I'm glad you're not going to die either."
"Did she happen to say when I can use my leg again?" Kasey asked. "I'm guessing at least a few days."
"Yeah, a few days. You can't walk on it so Harper and I will have to carry you around for a while." Liam shrugged a shoulder.
Kasey blinked a few times before nodding slowly. "All right, then… Maybe I should call my job soon and let them know I'm quitting… And I'll need someone to get my notes from my classes. And I guess Harper will have to fill in for me as the city's super for a while."
Liam nodded, “I can call in to you’re work for you if you want? Save you from doing it since you need lots of rest and not stress.”
"It should be fine if I call in. I think it should come from me, anyway," Kasey said softly. "But thanks, though."
Liam nodded, “Okay. Do you want to call in now or in a little bit? You can just use mine if you want to call now.”
Kasey sighed and closed her eyes.
"I honestly don't want to call in at all… I actually don't mind working there, but… I just can't…"
Liam sighed, “I know, it’s hard to choose what but… do what you think is right.”
"I know I have to call in. Could you sit with me while I do it?" Kasey asked quietly.
Liam nodded and took out his phone and sat next to her, handing her his phone, “Of course I’ll sit with you.”
"Thanks," Kasey murmured, taking his hand in hers again as she dialed the number of her work.
Liam sighed and took her hand in his, kissing the back of it gently.
Kasey blushed a bit when Liam kissed her hand, waiting for someone to pick up the phone.
"Hello?" came a feminine voice from the other end.
"Sabrina? Hey, it's Kasey."
"Kasey, hey! How are you?"
"I'm okay… Hey, so I've got done sad news."
"What is it?"
"…I'm quitting. As of now…"
"You're joking, right?"
"No. I just have too much on my plate, and this was the only thing I could change."
"Well, we're sorry to see you leave. You have a spot here if you ever want it."
"Thanks, Sabrina. I'll talk to you later."
"Any time. Come in soon. Bye."
"Bye," Kasey sighed as she hung up. She turned to Liam, chewing on her lip.
"Everything went okay?" Liam asked, raising an eyebrow and squeezing her hand a little.
"Yeah, it went fine… They're sad I'm leaving, but I think they understand," Kasey whispered, looking down. She laid her head in Liam's shoulder with a sigh.
Liam wrapped an arm around Kasey and placed a kiss to her head, "Okay, that's good to hear."
"Yeah. Hey, did Madi mention when I can go home?" Kasey asked, lifting her head to look at Liam.
Liam shook his head, "She didn't mention it to me, no. Want me to go ask for you?"
Kasey gave him a small smile. "Would you, please?"
"Of course." Liam pressed a kiss to her cheek before standing and heading into the hallway where the older adults were.
Madeline and Harper were standing close to each other, and both blushed when they looked up and saw Liam walking over. The doctor took a small step back from Harper, causing him to frown slightly.
"Is everything okay?" Doctor Willows asked, looking a bit concerned.
Liam grinned a little, “Kasey just wants to know when she’ll be able to leave.”
