"That sounds perfect. Will you make the long trek across the hall to get me?" Kasey joked.
"That sounds perfect. Will you make the long trek across the hall to get me?" Kasey joked.
"Of course I will, what kind of a gentlemen wouldn't?" He said, laughing.
"Great, so I'll see you then? Or sooner," Kasey added with a shrug, though she knew he couldn't see her.
"Whatever you want to do hun." Liam replied, leaning back onto the couch,
"Well…" Kasey trailed off with a sigh, sitting back in her seat at the table. Quake jumped into her lap, so Kasey started petting her absently. "I mean, I won't be upset if you want to come over, but I should really study. You could help me, though."
"If you need some time without me around to study that's fine by me. I don't want you to feel I'm pressuring you to let me come over. You study, I'll see you tomorrow for our date, yeah?" Liam smiled gently.
Kasey breathed a sigh. "Yeah, see you then. I can't wait," she said, standing to gather her things for studying.
"Love you." Liam said before hanging up the phone, turning his focus back onto the TV show.
"Love you, too," Kasey murmured, though the line had already gone dead. She groaned and started her studying.
Liam sighed and picked up the note book again before falling asleep soon after, the book resting on his chest.
A couple of hours later, Kasey dragged herself from the chair, accidentally dislodging Quake from her lap, where she had fallen asleep. Heading to the kitchen, Kasey decided that she should probably eat some real food and made herself spaghetti for dinner. Almost as soon as she had sat back down to eat, the kitten jumped into her lap. Kasey laughed a bit before eating.
Liam woke up to his phone ringing a few hours later. He picked it up and found the doctor's had to move his appointment forward to tomorrow morning. Reluctantly, he accepted and hung up the phone, sighing.
Once she had finished eating, Kasey gently pushed the kitten off her lap and set her dishes in the dishwasher. The door opening and closing alerted her to her brother's presence, and she turned to face him with a smile as he joined her in the kitchen.
"Hey, Harper. Where've you been?" she wondered.
Harper shrugged tiredly. "Out. Looking for a job…" he sighed.
"Really? Why?" Kasey asked, giving him an odd look. Why would he need a job if he already had one? And why was he looking around here?
Liam rubbed at his face and sat up on the couch, thinking through the last few days. It will be nice to take Kasey out, he'd been meaning to do so since they got together but with Matt he hadn't had time. He was also looking forward to leaving his apartment but the date excited him more.
"Oh, huh, didn't I tell you?" Harper asked, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. He gave her a sheepish smile chuckled a bit. "I'm moving in next door to you. The apartment is open, and there's really not much left for me back in Wolfsbane City. Not since the other supers moved there, anyway."
"Wait… What? You're moving in here? Other supers? What?" Kasey asked, incredibly confused.
"Oh… I forgot to tell you about them, too… Huh, I could have sworn I did…" Harper trailed off, trying to remember. "Okay, well anyway, a team of three new supers moved into town, and they've been taking care of all the crime. The Mask has basically disappeared anyway, so I'm moving here, to help you."
Kasey stood and stared at her brother in stunned silence for a moment before she grinned. "Harper, that's great! It'll be so great to have a partner so I don't have to do everything myself."
Liam walked to the kitchen and found he hdn't gone shopping for a while. He frowned and grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl.
He walked to the computer and noticed a headline on the news. His jaw dropped and he didn't bother pulling on a shirt before he opened his door and knocked on Kasey's.
Kasey's quickly glanced at the door when she heard the knock. She looked back to Harper with a confused expression, wondering if he knew who it was. He just shrugged and motioned for her to get the door.
She made her way to the door and opened it to see Liam, blinking once at the sight of his bare chest before noticing the look on his face.
"Liam? What's up?" she asked worriedly.
"It's Matt, we have a problem, and we will have an even bigger problem regarding your identity soon." Liam said, biting his lip.
Kasey felt her heart stop momentarily, and she just stared at Liam as she tried to wrap her mind around what he'd just said.
"I'm sorry, I don't think I heard you correctly. What?"
"I just read a news article. Matt's gone to the papers and said he knows the identity of Kinesie, he's going to be on the news in two days to reveal who it is unless Kinesie meet's with him at the town hall tomorrow evening at eight." Liam said, trying to calm his breathing.
"That's not good," Kasey breathed, turning back into her apartment to pace as she rubbed her face with her hand. "That's really not good. I'll just have to meet with him, I guess…"
"That or we could always go to the news and tell them what Matt really is… if they believe us that is." Liam replied, stepping into the apartment and shutting the door.
"They won't. Why would they? He's important, we're just normal people," Kasey sighed, moving to the living room to sit in the couch, placing her head in her hands. Harper followed and sat in the chair, looking worried.
Liam sighed and sat down next to Kasey, "I'm sorry." He couldn't think of what else to say.
Kasey shook her head. "It's not your fault. If anything, I should be thanking you for warning me. I don't know why I didn't get a notification or anything on my phone," she sighed wearily.
