"I'm sure, don't worry." Liam replied, giving her a small smile to reassure his point.
"I'm sure, don't worry." Liam replied, giving her a small smile to reassure his point.
Kasey gave him a small, albeit somewhat worried, smile back and rested her head back on his shoulder.
"All right…" she sighed. After taking a deep breath, she pulled away from Liam and stood, stretching her arms above her head. When she let them drop, she crossed them over her chest tightly. "If you need to go home, you can, but I think I should sleep. I need to prepare myself for tomorrow evening."
"I'll go home and let you sleep," Liam stood and gave her a quick but gentle kiss, "If I don't see you before tomorrow, good luck and I love you."
"Love you, too," Kasey whispered back, giving him a small grin. "I'll see you tomorrow. One way or another."
"You better or I'm coming to find you." He said, giving her one last smile before leaving the apartment.
Kasey sighed and sat back down on the couch, pulling her knees up to her chest and wrapping her arms around them. She buried her face in her knees and took deep breaths to try to calm herself. It helped a little, but just barely. The adrenaline pumping through her veins saw to it that she couldn't be completely calm.
Harper had been watching the scene unfold, standing silently in the doorway to the kitchen. Now, since his sister's boyfriend was gone, he walked over and sat by her.
"It'll be okay," he murmured, rubbing her back gently. "Everything will work out. I'll be there for you, and Liam will, too, I'm sure."
Kasey nodded silently into her knees. Taking another deep breath, she stood, gave her brother a weary smile, and made her way to her bedroom. After changing into pajamas and getting ready to sleep, she collapsed onto her bed. Quake jumped up beside her, nuzzling her cheek with her tiny, black nose and purring.
Once Liam was back in his own apartment, Liam sighed and forced himself to try and not break down in tears. He took a deep breath and ran a hand through his hair and smiled a little when Mortem curled around his feet.
Picking his cat up, Liam made his way to his to his room, placing Mortem on the bed who moved up to the head of the bed near where Liam would rest his head and curled up and went to sleep.
Liam went to his bathroom to brush his teeth and wash his face with cold water before slipping on some different pants ans hopping into bed, falling asleep soon after.
Kasey sighed and leaned back on the headboard of her bed. She pulled Quake onto her chest, where the ball of purring fluff curled up and fell asleep. After petting the kitten for a while, Kasey fell asleep as well.
Her dreams haunted her. In them, she faced Matt over and over again, and he killed her each time. Or Liam was captured once more, and this time she couldn't save him. Or Harper… Harper tried to save her from some horrible fate and only ended up having it happen to him, instead.
Liam was up early the next morning, not because he wanted to but because of his appointment. He grabbed a pair of jeans and a jumper to wear before slipping his shoes on and headed out of his apartment. Hopefully it shouldn't take too long and Liam prayed it wouldn't.
Kasey woke up the next morning with a gasp, sitting up straight and thereby dislodging Quake from her chest. The kitten jumped and hissed in surprise, though it wasn't very intimidating coming from her little body.
Shaking her head to rid herself of her nightmare, Kasey looked at the clock. 8:30 AM. She may as well get up, then. Getting Harper to train her a bit before she had to face Matt wouldn't be such a bad idea.
Liam arrived at the doctors quickly and was right on time. Once the appointment was over, he headed to the pharmacy to grab the pills his doctor had prescribed him again. After that was done, he set off home again.
Harper agreed to train her, and they started after a quick breakfast. They went across the street to the gym and asked to use an empty room. After gaining access to one, they dropped their things off inside and left to change into clothes that were more fitting for training.
Liam swung his keys around his finger on his free hand as he climbed the stairs to his apartment, humming a new song idea to himself in the process. Once inside, he had an idea. It wasn't the best but it might help with his music so, creating some background videos and overlaying his songs, he uploaded them to Youtube.
"You ready to start?" Harper asked once he and Kasey were back in the training room, facing each other.
Kasey nodded. "Ready as I'll ever be. Let's begin."
Harper picked a small ball up and tossed it to her, though she quickly caught it with her mind and flung it back at him. He ducked, narrowly avoiding being hit, and tossed another ball. This went on for some time, with Harper throwing more and more balls faster and faster. Kasey got hit a few times, but she also hit Harper every once in a while.
Liam turned off his computer once his little project was finished and sighed. It probably won't get anywhere or help him in anyway but it's a start so he didn't mind that much. He turned on the TV while he worked on a couple songs.
A few hours later, the siblings ended their training session and came out of the room sweating and panting from the exertion. Kasey was light-headed from using her powers so much, so she hung onto Harper as she walked.
They soon arrived back at the apartment, and Kasey collapsed onto the couch while he brother made them some lunch. He kept a close eye on her as best he could from his place in the kitchen, hoping she would be okay soon. Once he had finished with lunch, he brought a plate full of steaming mac-and-cheese out to Kasey.
"Here, eat up. You'll need energy for later," he said as he handed it to her. She gave him a grateful glance and started to eat it, making sure not to go too quickly, though she wanted to because of how hungry she was.
Liam had papers littered all over the table of song lyrics, guitar chords, other instrumental notes and normal reporting stuff while he quietly hummed and sang to himself as he worked on too tasks at the same time.
Because there was no Kinesie stuff to report on, his boss had such given him a task of writing about the new children's home that had opened up which was a nice change.
Kasey ate her lunch in silence, and Harper didn't even try to break it, knowing that she just needed some quiet time at the moment. They sat beside each other on the couch, with Quake jumping up and sitting between them eventually. Kasey looked down and smiled a bit at the cat, petting her with her free hand and using the other to shovel food into her mouth.
Once the report was written, Liam made his way to the computer and wrote it out all again, fixing a few minor mistakes before emailing it off to his boss who replied quickly with a thank-you email. Liam sighed and went back to work on his music.
After finishing lunch, Harper left to go job hunting once more. He apologized for leaving Kasey in such a time, but she waved him off and told him it was fine.
Once her brother was gone, she paced her apartment, starting in the kitchen and making her way to her bedroom. And back to the kitchen. Her bedroom. The kitchen again. And so on and so forth.
"What am I going to do? He may try to unmask me in front of the crowd that will inevitably be there, and I can't let him do that. What if he tried to hurt Liam, again? Or Harper? Or…" she trailed off with a sigh, digging the heels of her hands into her eyes. "Ugh, I can't think like this. I have to be positive. I will defeat him, and I will make sure he gets what he deserves."
Liam sighed and sat back on the couch looking at the mess of papers in front of him. His mind wandered to Kasey the fight later. He wanted to call her and talk to her but didn't know if she wanted the space or not. He frowned down at his phone before giving in and texting her.
LIAM: Hey, Kasey. I was going to call but didn't know if you needed quiet or me bugging your right now. I just wanted to say I love you, a lot and I can't see Matt winning this fight against you. I know you might not see this before the fight but if you do you don't have to reply, I understand since you might need the space to prepare and that's perfectly okay. Don't feel pressured to reply, that's not what I'm getting at but… I love you. I love you so much - Liam
(Aw, that's so cute!!! fangirls over her own fictional character's equally fictional boyfriend)
Kasey sat back down on the couch and almost immediately jumped back up again at the sound of her phone receiving a text. Going back into the kitchen, she picked her phone up off the counter. She opened the text from Liam as she sat back down on the couch. A smile flitted across her lips as she read it, tears coming to prick the corners of her eyes.
KASEY: Thank you. I love you, too.
She sent the reply, hoping he would know the words were heartfelt, though they were simple.
(I was tryin' to be cute but I may have gone over board a lil bit… hehe lol)
Liam smiled, knowing that even though it wasn't a long reply it was alright by him. He smiled at the text, and sent back a couple 'x's' before returning to his music.
(Nah, it was adorable.)
Kasey glanced down at her phone with a smile. She sighed, realizing she should probably practice some more before she had to meet Matt. Her lightheadedness was gone, so she would be fine for a while, though if she started to feel that way again, she knew she would have to stop.
Liam sighed and hummed to himself as he finished writing one song and started on another to pass the time, also trying to get his nerves out of his body as well.
