Nat smirked. "I made it my business to know everyone. My– I was taught how." She had to stop herself from saying, My moms taught me how.

Nat looked down at Eliza. "You're severely injured, or haven't you noticed that yet? You aren't going anywhere."
Eliza snarls, curling up semi away from the group. She winces and holds her head
Kiania shook her head, digging around one of the pockets of her jacket and pulling out a bottle of painkillers, stepping over and crouching next to Eliza. "Here."
Nat watched. "Take them, Eliza," she ordered firmly.
"You don't have to take them." Kiania said, rolling her eyes. "But it might be a good idea."
Nat pressed her lips together. She's too… too… She struggled to find a word.
“I would recommend the painkillers. The stitches are going to be furiously itchy for the next couple of days. I apologize for having to sew you up while you were unconscious, but it was necessary,” Artemis said, strolling back from the pile of artifacts. She turned to Kiania. “At a glance, nothing seems to be missing. I’ll have to complete a full catalog later.”
Eliza just holds out her palm but otherwise doesnt move
Nat straightened and looked at Artemis. "Need help with that?"
“Please. Steven refuses to acknowledge that we have a bit of an artifact hoarding problem, even though a lot of the things here would be better off in museums,” Artemis said, relief in her voice.
Kiania screwed the top off the bottle, dumping a couple of the painkillers onto Eliza's palm. "Maybe they didn't find what they were looking for."
Nat noticed that Artemis Kelly calling her dad by his name. It was a bit strange to her. Then again…
Nat welcomed a reassuring smile to her face. "Sure. Just tell me what to do."
(Damn, I missed a lot while I was gone.)
Replying to Kiania, Artemis said, "That is a possibility. We keep the most dangerous artifacts in an undisclosed location." She turned to Nat. "I think our priority should be getting these bodies into the cabinet before-" Suddenly, there was a shout from downstairs. "This is the third time this month I've had to replace these doors!" a man's voice called, sounded exasperated. "I was going to say before Steven gets home, but he's already here," Artemis said dejectedly.
"Go stall him." Kiania said, standing up and tucking the bottle away. "Where's that cabinet of yours?" She was already starting for one of the bodies, hefting the man up with surprising strength.
Nat nodded in agreement with Kiania. "I'll help you." Her eyes darted to Artemis. "Good better hurry."
"It's just over there, and it has a green tarp hanging over it," Artemis said, jiggling her leg with nervous energy. "I don't think I can stall him for very long, but I can certainly try." She turned around, only to see Dr. Steven Strange standing at the door behind her, his arms crossed across his chest and a stern look in his eyes. "I see you invited people over," he said wryly. "I hope it wasn't one of them who broke the door. Maybe it was the unconscious people you're trying to hide in the cabinet of holding." Artemis ducked her head down, her face going scarlet with shame. "Sorry, Steven. You were away, and I didn't want to worry you."
Nat straightened professionally. "Dr. Strange," she greeted simply.
"So close. Today's full of bad luck." Kiania shrugged, letting the man drop unceremoniously to the ground.
Dr. Strange nodded at Nat, and rolled his eyes at Kiania's quip. "At least you're making some friends," he said, "even if they are all Avengers. Now, would you care to explain to me what happened?" Artemis looked up. "I got an alarm that the Sanctum was under attack, and they offered to come with me. When we arrived, the intruders were in here, trying to flee with all of the artifacts. I attempted to scare them off, but it didn't work, so they assisted me in taking care of them. I don't know why they were here, truly."
"Why does everyone keep assuming I'm an Avenger?" Kiania grumbled, pulling out her once again ringing phone to turn the volume off.
Nat pressed her lips together. She wasn't an Avenger. She was even wearing her new S.H.I.E.L.D. uniform.
"I apologize. My step-daughter had told me that she was trying to make friends with the younger members of the Avengers, so I just assumed," Dr. Strange said. "I'm pushing her to do it because the poor thing is 17 and hasn't invited anyone over in years!" he informed them with an amused smile on his face. Artemis went beet red again. "Steven, you really must stop embarrassing me like this," she mumbled.
(Camie, can I create a male character? I feel like we need some of them.)
Adrielle has heard the commotion and had, like many others, moved over to see what was up.
”Is it true?” she heard a woman whisper. ”Did the Sanctum really get attacked?”
Adrielle blinked. So that was what the noise had been. She rolled her eyes. They were so weak they couldn’t even keep someone from breaking in.
