Artemis noticed Kiania's calculating stare and immediately shook her head. She had seen that expression often enough on her father's face to know that she couldn't let Kiania go through with whatever plan she was cooking up. She grabbed Kiania's arm. "I appreciate your support in following me into the Sanctum, I truly do. But I can't let you put yourself in danger for the artifacts. It's my duty to protect this room, and I failed."
Kiania blinked, looking to Artemis as her arm tensed under the touch before relaxing. "Babe, I'm already here. You'd have to straight up kick me out to get rid of me." She said quietly, her smile lopsided. "And I'm no stranger to being in danger, I'm just not used to a team. Let me help, please."
"All I heard where stories." She says simply.
Nat shrugged. "Makes sense." Suddenly, a quinjet appeared above them, it's cloaking devices deactivating. Nat smirked. "There it is."
"Woah!!!" Eliza jumps to her feet and quickly backing away as the jet lands in front of them
Nat laughed. The doors opened after a second to reveal Maria Hill, observing Eliza curiously and nodded at Nat. "Are you ready?"
"Yes, Mom," Nat replied. She looked over at Eliza. "C'mon."
"Uh? Me?" She leaps to her feet quickly and jogs to the jet, passing Maria without a word.
Artemis blushed furiously, but kept her eyes focused on the intruders. “Ok,” she managed. “Thank you. So, what is our plan of attack?”
"Question is, do we want to go in guns blazing, my favorite, or do we want a distraction." Kiania said, pulling her hair up and out of the way before tying her jacket around her waist.
“I’m not very good at strong physical attacks, but if I can waltz out there and act like I have the same abilities as my father, they may just flee, hopefully without the artifacts. If they aren’t convinced… well, I’m most certainly going to need your help,” Artemis said. She began to slowly hover off of the ground, and her jewelry glowed and flickered ominously, sending flashes of colored light across her face. “Do I look the part of a supremely powerful sorceress?”
Kiania's eyes lit up as she watched Artemis, nodding. "You do, holy shit. Tell me what you need me to do, and I've got your back."
“Thank you for trusting me,” Artemis said quietly. With that, she spun around, and floated out towards the intruders. “Invaders are not tolerated in the Sanctum,” her voice boomed, unnaturally loud. “Surrender what you stole and flee, foul thieves, or else you will suffer my wrath.”
"Uh? Me?" She leaps to her feet quickly and jogs to the jet, passing Maria without a word.
(Just so everyone knows, I'm tweaking Nat's backstory just a bit!)
Maria arched her eyebrows curiously at her daughter.
"A friend," Nat replied smoothly. "Mom, this is Eliza Parker."
Kiania turned to watch from out of view, an eyebrow raised in amusement at the shock on the faces of the intruders. This would be fun.
Eliza turns back quickly, nodding and waving slightly to Maria with an awkward smile
"Parker? You're Peter's daughter?" Maria asked, shutting the door and making her way to the cockpit.
Eliza shrugs, "Many people are surprised. But yeah. I am.." she sits back in a foldable chair at the side of the jet. She had to mess with the seatbelts for a while before just giving up completely and just shooting a web to her waist
The intruders dropped their bags and slowly backed away, and Artemis felt extraordinarily powerful for the first time in years. Of course, this is when her cloak decided to fall asleep and she collapsed to the floor in a heap, the power sputtering out from her jewelry.
Nat looked amused and clicked her own seatbelt into place smoothly.
Maria sat in the cockpit and clicked a couple controls. "Ready?"
"Yes," Nat replied.
They rose steadily into the air. Maria activated the camouflage panels on the bottom of the quinjet and took off.
Well, shit. Kiania was out without hesitation, spinning her knife as she grinned, a wicked expression. "Well well well. Artemis, does this mean I'm allowed to have some fun now?"
Eliza jumps slightly but not enough to be noticed, looking around quickly and clutching her seat, "So uh… New York Sanctum? Or…"
"Yes," Maria replied without looking back.
Nat nodded, hiding her smile at Eliza's subtle panic.
"U-uh… Right…" she pipes down, holding tight to the abandoned seat belts. Her mask covering her head again. It had a opening at the top (like Captain Marvel's helmet) where her shirt hair fell over her now white eyes.
“Please do,” Artemis muttered weakly. She knew using so much power at once would drain her, but she had never done anything like this before. As the intruders approached her, she clambered to her feet and whipped out her staff.
Kiania waited to be attacked first, eyes analyzing the man that leaped for her, hand coming up to block the punch thrown her way. Favors his left, obviously, and has a weak right. Slight limp if he lands directly on his left leg. She fought wildly, with no discernible patterns or repetitions, every move a completely new one.
"U-uh… Right…" she pipes down, holding tight to the abandoned seat belts. Her mask covering her head again. It had a opening at the top (like Captain Marvel's helmet) where her shirt hair fell over her now white eyes.
Nat looked concerned for the other girl. "Are you okay, Eliza?" she asked.
Maria glanced back briefly.
