Vida flopped back down on the bed again and started to cry herself to sleep.
"Oh… well, not really, Sparrow. I'm a little more worried about things besides what day it is…" Cyrus sighed. He walked out, in the general direction of his bedroom, but he needed to talk to someone about this. One of the adults. Not some kid who thought she knew best.
Kat looked over to Vida. She slowly stood up and made her way over, sitting down next to her crying friend.
"Th-they… they killed him…" she whispered, hoarse from all of the crying, "We have to- have to- stop them…"
Vida kept getting choked up on tears, and could barely form sentences.
Katya nodded, "Of course, but we need to learn first. Then we can take them down."
(Ima bump Kyle's age up to twelve if that's fine and he looks kinda like this https://www.pinterest.com.au/pin/413205334559659049/)
"Vida…" Kyle went and sat next to Kat, "We'll stop them. And the nice adults will stop them too."
"Cyrus," Eira an up next to him, "What the hell are we gonna do now?"
Luna had entered her room before deciding she still couldn't handle being in there alone. She spotted Cyrus and Eira, "W-we do what we always do. M-make a plan and kick burro."
Eira rubbed at her face with both hands, "Yeah, but seriously. Those kids are a handful."
Luna nodded, she hadn't even interacted with any, but she could tell.
"N-n-no!!! Stop the adults! They can- can't go!!!" Vida cried, shaking.
"Panther did some messed up shit to them, he did," Cyrus muttered, "We have to go back in and find out what we can…"
Katya slowly tried to rub her back, "It's their choice Vida. We can't stop them."
"I-I'll go and scout it out," Luna offered. She figured out of everyone here she was still the most expendable. That and she didn't want any of her friends in risk of getting hurt by him.
(Oh yeah, Vida looks mostly like this, but with chin-length hair and bluish-green eyes: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/ATS-Q0lIEbvPADDmzg9pnTJQwwBVITp8ZAvyrA7pmdUtOUX74FiONyk/ )
"I agree, but what about the kids? The two eldest seemed to want to help us out and we can't leave them here without good adult supervision." Eira sighed.
Kyle shushed her gently, "They're not going yet V, it's okay."
(Gosh, all the kids are so cute it's not funny)
Cyrus sighed and shook his head. "I haven't been on a mission in a while. You just got back. We have to share the load, Luna. I'll do my part here."
Vida looked up at Katya. She had no idea how to communicate exactly what she'd seen.
Luna looked between them before shrugging, "O-okay. I-I still think I-I should go, since you really are n-needed here Cyrus."
Katya looked to Vida inquisitively. She didn't know what Vida was trying to do, but it felt familiar.
"I'll leave you to have some girl time," Kyle sighed, "I'll be over there if you need a hug V." He ruffled her hair an walked off.
"We need to sit down with all of our friends and talk it out." Eira crossed her arms.
"Luna, I'm pretty confident about this one. I don't say that often, but I am," Cyrus replied, unwavering.
He brushed his hair back with one hand a little bit.
"I'm not planning it alone, though. I'll make sure you all know every detail. Don't worry about being left out of the decision, Eira. Everyone else's opinions are important to me too."
Vida's eyes widened. She had bitten down on her lip, and her lip was trembling. She sounded like she was fumbling for words, but she couldn't tell what those words might be.
Luna sighed and she nodded, "I-I'm with Eira, let's talk to the others first."
Katya gave Vida a gentle hug, "It's okay."
"Of course," Cyrus said, "Just… where are Alex and Uriah?"
Vida shook her head.
"B-b-blood… everywhere…" she gasped, kind of holding herself into a hug.
Katya stopped holding Vida, "Was it family?" She didn't know where these questions came from.
"N-no idea," Luna sighed.
"Yeah…" Vida whispered. The tears stopped flowing for a moment. Thank god Katya was catching on…
"Well… That puts us on hold, just a bit. In the meantime, we should at least start thinking, though. What we need to accomplish, that sort of thing… We can decide who goes later," Cyrus said.
Katya went back to hugging Vida, "I'm sorry."
Luna nodded, "Th-that sounds good."
"He was my brother…" Vida added. She was now horribly hoarse and stuffy from all the crying. She regretted it, but really hadn't been able to help it.
Cyrus walked over to his bedroom and grabbed a notebook and a few pens. He sat down at a table near where Eira and Luna were still, and he started taking a few notes.
Katya squeezed Vida, she felt a hollow pang in her heart. She felt like she had gone through this so many times before, just holding a crying child while they mourned a lost one. She didn't want to know what she had forgotten now, "I'm so sorry. Maybe we could be your new family?"
Vida nodded. "Please…?"
She looked back at the door. "W-where's Cyrus…?"
