Jay reached up to her. "I'll catch you, just slide down." He said, looking up at her. A few strands of hair poked out from the bottom of his hat, still that strange, ashy charcoal color from when he had dumped the crushed up charcoal and water on his head.
"Don't drop me please," She said with a small smile, the first words she said since answering Caspian's questions. Delia slowly slid off the edge and hoped Jay would catch her.
"I won't." He caught her gently, arms supporting her lightly. He held her for a moment, looking at her, then slowly set her down, still supporting her until she didn't need him. Leo barked softly, wagging his tail.
She felt her face heat up slightly when he held her, grabbing her crutches and slinging all of her gear onto her back again before following after Caspian. The only thought that repeated in her mind was that she wasn't going to let them take Leo and she would see Jay again.
Caspian watched from the side, tapping his fingers against his leg as he waited for them to get moving, "Alright you two, lets get you to whoever is going to take you from here." He motioned for them to follow as he walked towards what looked like the main building, a door to the side labeled 'civilian check in'.
Jay stayed beside her, eyes narrowed slightly as he took in the camp. He put a hand on her shoulder lightly, swallowing. If they find out what I am they'll put me in a cell and dissect me, they'll… He shook his head slightly. Leo wriggled, sniffing the air and wagging his tail a little.
Delia wished she could grab his hand as they walked, though she settled for walking slightly closer to him and just focusing on his calming presence, "Meet me as soon as you can when we get finished with our testing, I promise I'll do everything I can to keep Leo safe and with me." She spoke the words softly, watching as Caspian opened the door for them and they stepped inside a very white and very clean entrance with chairs for waiting civilians.
Jay nodded. "Alright. I'll do my best to be there." He replied softly, reaching out and gently brushing his knuckles against hers, trying to comfort her, and to ground himself. Leo kept a wary eye on Caspian, still sniffing the air happily.
Caspian led them up to the one desk in the room, flashing a charming smile at the nurse behind it, "Hey Sandy, found two more out on the roads, mind running them through their checkups?" He looked over at Delia and Jay, even making eye contact with Leo for a moment.
"I sure can, would you sit with them over in one of those seats while i get some paperwork filled out?" The nurse replied with a smile, motioning over to the chairs without looking at either Delia or Jay.
Leo growled at the eye contact, wriggling and trying to charge at Caspian, but hindered by the sling and the fact that he couldn't get out. Jay frowned slightly, and gently took Delia's hand, leading her over to the chairs and helping her sit down.
"Leo, shh," Delia said softly, walking over to the chairs with Jay's help. She sat down and set her bags by her feet along with her crutches, happily resting her legs. Meanwhile, Caspian and the nurse kept talking, an occasional giggle from the nurse as a dead giveaway that they were probably flirting and had forgotten about the two of them.
Jay sat down beside her with a sigh. "Let's hope we both get out of this alright." He murmured, squeezing her hand gently. Leo quieted, snuggling up to her.
(I gtg soon)
She nodded, looking down at her lap as she spoke softly, "First we have to make it through the checkups, without anything being found out and without them taking Leo."
Eventually the two of them stopped flirting and walked over to Jay and Delia. "Jay, you'll be going with me, while Delia here will wait with Caspian until another nurse is open," Sandy said, smiling at him before motioning for him to follow her.
Jay frowned slightly, and nodded at Delia's words, then frowned slightly. "And…what if I don't want to leave Delia?" he replied, putting an arm around Delia protectively. Leo growled when the two came over, hackles rising as he squirmed, trying to get out of the sling.
"Well, we have to test to see if you're carrying any viruses or anything, so we don't want to contaminate other patients if only one of you is sick," The nurse said, continuing on after a few moments, "We also have to do a physical check up on you both, which can take some time and has to be done by a doctor of the same gender, meaning you two wouldn't be able to stay together without.." She started to continue but Caspian cut her off, sitting next to Delia and him
"Trust me Jay, she'll be safe with me," Caspian said, "I'll make sure she's safe."
Jay looked down at Delia, and sighed. "Fine. I want to see her again later." he replied, not giving any room for disagreement. He patted Leo's head gently, and took the puppy out of the sling to set him on Delia's lap. "And I am not going to take no for an answer on that." his voice was even, but stone cold.
Caspian nodded, already not paying attention to him, "Sounds good, you'll see her again as soon as you're through your tests." He relaxed back in the seat and looked over at leo and Delia, "I still don't think your puppy is a fan of me."
Sandy smiled and motioned for Jay to follow her as she walked through a pair of double doors down a hallway, chattering the whole way, "First I'll bring you to the showers and give you a fresh pair of clothes, you can take as much time as you want in there. Then we'll bring you to one of the rooms and go through all the required tests, Dr. Lee will oversee those and I'll get you some food."
Delia sighed, her eyes going to Jay as she started petting Leo. Being alone with Caspian didn't sound fun in the least, but yet here she was, waiting for another nurse to bring her to wherever so she could get through all of this and see Jay again.
Jay looked over at Delia and gave her a little wave, then started walking after the nurse, crossing his arms uncomfortably. He gave no response to her chatter, glancing back at Delia and Caspian for a moment, then back ahead. Leo growled at Caspian, standing protectively in Delia's lap.
With Jay following her, the nurse walked down the hallway into the base, though this part seemed to be isolated from the rest. She made a series of turns until she reached two doors, one labeled 'men' and the other 'women'. "Here you are, I'll have a pair of clothes delivered along with a towel in a few minutes. Everything else you should need is in there, along with a fresh toothbrush and some toothpaste, soap, a comb, and deodorant. Please only take one though, we need to make them last." She smiled at him and waited for him to enter the shower and bathroom combination. Showers lined the whole back wall of the decent sized room, each separated by a concrete wall between them and a plastic curtain in front. sinks and mirrors were along the other wall while everything else lined a different wall.
Jay nodded slowly. "Alright." He replied, going inside. He wasn't going to thank this woman, even if this was the first time he had showered in quite a while. He started getting ready for the shower.
She turned and went back down the hallway, getting one of the male nurses to drop off a generic pair of clothes and a towel. All the clothes they gave the citizens were plain and generic. A pair of gray sweatpants, a black t-shirt with a different number printed on each of them, short white socks, and a pair of tennis shoes. She walked back to the entrance and waved Delia to come with her, who seemed extremely relieved to put Leo back in the sling and hurry over to her. Her backpack back on her back.
Leo snuggled close to Delia, sticking his head out and growling anytime anyone came too near.
Jay got in the shower, relaxing slightly under the spray of hot water.
(Mk I'll do it in the morning XD gotta get some sleep here)
