"Aye aye captain," She said jokingly, waving to him as he left and watching as Leo trotted away behind him. With a item in mind to look for, she got to work and started hunting, scouring the room she was in along with the kitchen first.
Jay explored each apartment. "I know I saw one earlier…" He muttered under his breath as he walked, looking around. Leo barked softly as he ran ahead.
She stuck to the one apartment as she searched, going through the whole thing and seeing no sign of one. Delia flipped the generator of as well to save power, as much as the hum it made was comforting to her.
Jay came back after a few minutes with a small, bright pink one in his hands. "I found this in some little girls room." He announced, setting it down. "I don't know if it works, though."
“Only one way to find out,” She replied with a smile, excited to maybe be able to play music, “Were there any discs with it?” Leo trotted over to her when they came back in and laid down beside her, just watching the fabric of her dress as it sparkled. Delia shifted her crutch around again and sighed, rolling her shoulder, “I’ll be right back, I’m going to go grab my other crutch.”
Jay shrugged, and checked. "Uhm…some sort of princess thing." He said with a laugh. He nodded. "alright."
She left quickly and came back in with her other crutch under her arm as well, Leo trailing along at her heels as she walked in her poofy and beautiful dress. “Let’s hear this princess thing,” She said with a smile, knowing it was probably some weird little kid thing.
Jay grimaced, and turned it on. It started playing. It was, indeed, some little kid thing. He plugged his ears.
Delia laughed and glanced at Jay, a bright smile crossing her face when she saw he was plugging his ears, “C’mon, it’s not that bad, I’ve heard worse.” She looked down at the pup and saw that he was having the same reaction as Jay, one of clear dislike, “The tune is kinda catchy, can’t deny that. But the whole lyrics thing is something else.”
Jay groaned. "Noooo." He replied, sitting down and keeping his ears plugged. "I'm not getting up until the music is over." He said stubbornly. Leo whined.
“Fine,” She said jokingly with another laugh, rolling her eyes and walking over to it to turn it off, “Whiny child.” With a quick flip of the on-off switch, the music stopped and she looked over at him, “Better?” Her smile was still on her face and she looked between the two of them, “Guess we’re gonna go look for a different CD.”
Jay stood. "Alright." He said with a shrug. "And I'm not a whiny child." He said with a soft laugh. Leo immediately perked up, barking softly.
Delia shrugged, glancing at him with a small grin, “That’s what you think. Mr. doesn’t like little kid songs.” She sighed and started wandering around the apartment, knowing there weren’t any CDs here, “Did you come across any in any of the apartments you checked?”
He held up two. "Yeah. I have no idea what they are, but yeah." He said, setting them by the CD player. "Did you find any?" He asked, looking over at her.
“No, there’s none in here, the people who lived here must’ve not liked CD’s, maybe they just used songs online.” She wandered over to the player and crouched down, picking up the discs with a little bit of maneuvering and looking at the covers, “One of these looks like some pop song artist’s thing, and the other seems to be old country songs. Those are always fun to listen to, they got a variety of slow songs and fast songs in old country music.”
Jay sighed. "Neither of those sound particularly appealing. Oh well. Guess I'm picky." He chuckled softly. "The country one is fine, i guess.' he raked a hand through his messy, pale hair.
“Otherwise we can go check for more,” She suggested, already popping out the first disk and replacing it with the country one. The disk of little kid music was put back into the country case and she looked up at him, waiting to see if she should play this one of if they were going to look for more.
He shrugged. "I can go check where I found the player." He said. "But I don't mind he country stuff. It isn't my favorite, but it's okay."
Delia cracked a small smile and shook her head, “You definitely didn’t live on a farm. At all.” She pressed play and stood up, waiting as the music started to play an old but mostly upbeat song with only a guitar as the background music.
Jay shook his head. "No, i didn't. I told you, I'm a city boy." He said with a small smile. "I grew up with pop, broadway, and alternative. Some rock, too." He shrugged.
“Well, city boy, let’s hope we don’t find a disc with Don’t Stop Believin’ on it,” She joked with a grin, “Otherwise you’ll hear my amazing singing skills, and the whole first verse will all line up.”
Jay chuckled. "Alright." He replied with a small smile. He hummed for a moment. "Want me to go look for more, then?"
Delia shrugged, “If you’d like to, something a little more danceable would be nice.” She glanced down at Leo to make sure she wasn’t going to hit him as she started swaying side to side and humming along to the song she best she could.
He nodded, and slipped out of the room to look for more CDs. Leo stayed well out of the way, head cocked to one side curiously as he watched her.
With no one around, she felt more comfortable to dance and sing along to the words she could make out, so that’s what she did. The dress spun and swayed with her as she danced awkwardly with crutches, careful not to hit the puppy as she did so.
