Delia was silent as well, humming very quietly to herself as she continued the massage and saw the sun start to set through one of the windows.
Delia was silent as well, humming very quietly to herself as she continued the massage and saw the sun start to set through one of the windows.
Jay listened quietly for a bit. "Thank you." He said again. It had been…a long time since he'd even just felt someone else's hands. Which sounded creepy. He didn't mean it in a creepy way. It had just been a while.
"You keep thanking me," She said, a tiny smile on her face, "Is there a reason? I know I'm not that good with massages."
He shrugged. "Different reasons. One, good or not, its a massage on my poor back. Two…this sounds strange, but…you have no idea how long it's been since someone else actually…was willing to make physical contact with me." He looked down at his hands.
She was silent for a moment, thinking before she spoke softly, "I really don't mean to pry, but what happened up on the alien ship? I know I really haven't had any physical contact with anyone in a year or two now, but I have a feeling the ship has something to do with the whole willing to make contact with you thing."
"I was…" I need to tell her. Now is as good a time as any. "Have you heard any rumors about the Killswitch operation?" He said softly, looking at his hands. "Whether you have or not…" He sighed. "The aliens experimented on a lot of us. They put…programming in my head. Others, too. We're the exterminators, basically. When Killswitch is started, we…everyone like me…" He trailed off for a moment, biting his lip.
Delia slowly stopped what she was doing as he explained, the dots connecting from the little information he gave her and what she had heard about. She silently nodded, clenching her jaw and sighing as she tried to not drop her hands off his shoulders in disappointment or anger, "You're here to kill the rest of us. I'm not going to jump to too many conclusions, but that's why you helped me isn't it? So when it's triggered you can just shoot me and move on."
"No." He protested. "I-I…until the programming is activated, I'm just like anyone else." His shoulders slumped. "I don't want to kill people. I don't want to kill you. But I won't be able to stop it. None of us can. None of the operatives…" His voice shook slightly. "When the Killswitch operation has been started, there is nothing any of the operatives can do to resist. To stop. I tried…" Everything. I tried everything and I couldn't stop it. "I'm sorry." He whispered, looking down at his hands.
(Lol i basically stole this from The Fifth Wave XD)
(That's an amazing seiries so I don't blame you XD the ending made me mad tho, I didn't like how it just..ended. With nothing else.)
"No, it's fine," Her voice was strangely void of any emotions, her hands slipping off his shoulders and down to her lap, "I'm just going to have to get used to the fact that I have a lot less time to live than I thought I did." Glancing up at his back for only a second, she sighed and shook her head before swinging her legs over the side of the bed and pulling her shoes on. "No I'm not leaving for good, I just….need time to think…ill be back eventually." It took her a little bit to get her injured leg into her shoe, but once she did, she grabbed her crutches and headed out of the room.
(yesss XD omw same. It felt like there should have been another book or something)
Jay bit his lip. "I can leave." He said softly. "If you…if you think I should. It's okay." He looked down at his hands. -falling to his knees, blood everywhere. Blood everywhere. He took a shuddering breath.
(YESSSS)
"No, you can stay, you're company, even if you might murder me in my sleep." She said before she left, not looking over at him as she went down the hallway and looked for a balcony. Eventually she found one in one of the other apartments on that level and leaned on the very rusty railing to think. Jay didn't seem like someone who was controlled by the aliens, but then again, she didn't seem like the kind of person to love dance and singing. She was supprisingly calm as she thought, face blank as she tried to think of the positives to Jay's company. He was nice, and good at hunting, funny, attractive -though she wouldn't admit it-, and if he did shoot her she would be able to see her family again, even her little brother.
Jay flopped down on the bed, closing his eyes. "I'm so sorry." He whispered, curling his arms around himself. "I'm so, so sorry." They're going to die. Humanity will die and its my fault. My fault and the others like me and I can't even kill myself to stop it.
Delia sat and just watched the sunset for another hour or two, enough for her to come to the conclusion that she would never let them take earth without a fight. And the best way to fight back? From inside one of their ships.
Jay fell asleep, curled on his side, his pale hair falling into his eyes. In his sleep, he certainly didn't look like someone who would murder. His hair, however, was a constant reminder of the changes that had been made to him.
Eventually, Delia sighed and headed back into the building. She quietly made her way back to the room with a new plan in mind as she slipped off her shoes and sat down. She quietly pulled her blanket out of her bag and glanced over at Jay, sighing before shaking her head and somewhat reluctantly throwing the blanket over him. He wasn't a bad person, just made into one by the aliens. With one final look over both Leo and Jay, she laid down and went to sleep.
Jay kept sleeping, curled up still. Leo was laying still, twitching sometimes as he dreamed.
(Timeskip? Also starting later today, i wont be on until Saturday. Idk if i already told u or not)
(Sounds good! I won't be on much either cuz I'm with a friend for a few days. And yeah timeskip)
Delia didn't mean to sleep as long as she did, but the bed was just so comfy it was hard to resist. When she woke up, the sun was already up and rising, which meant she had slept way longer than she wanted to.
Jay was awake, and out in the other section of the apartment, sitting on a ruined couch. He had his eyes closed, thinking. I should leave. I should leave. Safer for Delia.
Slowly, she sat up and yawned, rolling out of the bed and not even bothering to put on shoes as she grabbed her crutches and wandered around the apartment until she found Jay. "Mornin'" she mumbled and nodded in greeting, "How'd you sleep last night?"
(i will be afk starting now, btw)
Jay looked up. "Fine, I guess." He said softly, standing. "I'm…sorry about… everything." He bit his lip. "I can leave, by the way. If you want me to. I'd rather…leave, and try to keep you safe, then stay and end up killing you."
(K see ya!)
"No," She said quickly, yawning and shaking her head, "I want you to stay..but I won't force you if you want to leave." With a sigh, she shook her head again, "I'm sorry about last night, I had to think…and I know it's a suicide plan, but I think I could stop the aliens for good and keep you and Leo alive along with everyone else on earth." Delia left it at that, kicking at the ground with her uninjured leg and sighing, "Well, shall we go try on the clothes and be on our way?"
(i thought I wouldn't have cell service…but it turns out i do, so I'll be on, just less than usual)
Jay nodded slowly. "May I ask what that plan is?" He asked softly. "I promise the aliens won't know. They can't…read my mind or shit like that. The…programming only keeps me from killing myself, and when activated, forces me to…kill others." He wondered if she would catch the fact that the only way he could know it kept him from killing himself was if he had tried. He didn't really care either way.
(Oke doke! Sounds good!)
Delia shrugged, "Sure, why not. I'm going to go sit back in there to tell it though." She motioned back towards the room and headed back there, plopping down and pulling on her shoes to give herself something to do while she waited for him to be ready.
Jay nodded, and followed her into the room. Leo was awake, and was bouncing around on the bed, then jumped onto the ground, sniffing at Delia curiously.
"My plan needs some information from you to work though, like the ships layouts and things like that." She glanced at Jay as she started, swinging her uninjured leg, "Do you know anything about their ships?"
