A smile grew on her face and she had to come look, nodding when she saw it, “Yes! For the first time in forever, I might be able to sleep on an actual bed.” This apartment seemed to be the jackpot, even just a nice bed to sleep in was more than she expected, “Maybe if we find some old towels or something, we can let them soak up any extra water while we look around.”
Jay felt the bed. "It's dry now, I'm saying at some point it was wet." He said, standing. He undid the sling, and gently set Leo down on the bed. The sleeping puppy's body was limp and still, only his sides moving as he breathed. "I think we tired him out." Jay observed with a small chuckle.
“Yeah, he looks pretty tired,” She agreed, taking advantage of the designated sleeping spot and setting her bag down at the side of the bed. Rolling her shoulders, she sighed and looked around, “Last floor to search, then I call dibs on the left side dog the bed if we’re to share.”
Jay set his bag down as well, stretching. "Okay. We'll share if this is the only good bed." He agreed. He glanced at the puppy. "We can leave him here, I think. I doubt he'll wake up." Leo kept sleeping peacefully.
(Ugggg I cant English rn XDXD)
She nodded, watching Leo for a moment before wandering around the apartment, “Well, I’m going to go check the apartment opposite of this one, anything you need me to look for?”
(same tho XD)
Jay shook his head. "Not really." He replied. "I'll check the other. Anything you want?" He asked her, pulling off his head and tossing it onto the bed. It landed on the edge.
“Medicine, if you’re super lucky and there are water purification tablets there, is love those. Otherwise, nope, anything cool is good,” She said, shrugging before turning and heading over to the other apartment to start looking. Trying to open the door, she realized it was locked and looked sheepishly back at Jay, “Could you use your magic door opening skills over here quick? Please?”
Jay sighed. "You mean my magic, now very sore shoulders?" He asked with a grin. He had been ramming doors open for the entire day, and his shoulders were hurting. He came over, and tried to jimmy the handle. When that didn't work, he sighed, and slammed his shoulder into it. The door came open. He gestured to the slot the door would click into. "The screws aren't deep enough to keep the door from flying open when enough force is applied." He explained. "That's why it works."
“If your shoulders hurt that bad I can give you a shoulder massage or something,” She offered, only half joking, he had opened the doors for her all day and it just seemed nice. Delia smiled in thanks and nodded, listening to him, “Nice to know, I’ll have to remember that for when I get off these crutches.” She headed inside the room with a hopeful smile before setting to work and going through everything.
He nodded. "Most apartment buildings doors are like that. They just use cheap little screws instead of deeper, bigger ones. I know because when we moved into a new apartment, my dad replaced all the door screws so people couldn't just force them open." He chuckled softly. "And I might just take you up on that massage." He smiled slightly, and headed over to the other apartment.
Surprisingly, as nice as the apartment she was going through was, there wasn’t much to go through. Everything in the kitchen had been cleaned out, though there was one plastic bowl and two forks she decided to take along. The main room wasn’t much better, with nothing they could carry in their backpacks. When she got to the first of the two bedrooms though, she hit the jackpot of clothes. She smiled and looked into the closet that they were stored in, with both women’s and men’s clothes hung neatly, filling the whole bar for hanging clothes, “Note to self, bring Jay over here once he’s done in his apartment.”
The apartment Jay was in had nothing of use. It was obvious the place had sat empty for years before the aliens, a thick coating of dust covering everything. He sighed softly.
Delia hummed to herself as she started going through the clothes for anything useful, ignoring the musty smell. There were several pretty dresses she wanted to take with, but she could think of no occasion that she would wear them, plus they would just take up space in her bag. “Hey Jay?” She called after a minute, her voice easily reaching him in the quiet building, “You wanna come in this apartment quick? I have something cool to show you.”
Jay heard her, and came over. "Yeah? By the way, the apartment I was in had nothing good. I think it was closed up for several years before the aliens."
She hurried to the door of the apartment before he could get any further in and nodded with a goofy smile, “Close your eyes, no peeking either, I have to show you something.”
He smiled slightly, and closed his eyes. "Okay, okay." He said, waiting. "You better not be about to push me into something."
“I won’t, I won’t,” She assured him, taking him hand gently and putting it on her shoulder so she could lead him and also walk. With his eyes still closed, she led him to the room and turned him so he was facing the closet. She took his hand off her shoulder and let go of it gently before almost bouncing on her free leg and looking towards the closet herself, “Ok, open your eyes!”
He opened his eyes, and his eyebrows shot up. "Wow." He said softly, stepping forward and looking at the clothes. "That's…a lot of different clothes." He commented, looking at them. He glanced over at her. "You hit the jackpot, Delia." He said with a smile.
“I did,” She said, the pride obvious in both her stance and voice. Her goofy smile grew and she laughed lightly, “Look at all of these! I’ve never found anything like this, anywhere! I only looked through a fraction of the ladies clothes, but so far most of them have sizes that I wear or could wear.”
He laughed softly. "Maybe we should just stay here a while." He looked at the men's clothes. "I could wear some of these. A couple would be too big around the waist and shoulders, but i think most of these would fit." Jay, while he had broad shoulders, had more of a triangular shaped torso, with a narrow waist, and whatever man had lived here before had, at least at one point, been broader and bigger than Jay.
Delia danced around as best she could, not really listening to Jay, still excited about the amazing find. Her eyes sparkled and she made her way over to the closet as well, looking through the women’s clothes, “There’s so much variety in style here, fancy, dressy, comfy, and even some warmer stuff that would be nice when the weather gets cold.”
Jay nodded, looking through the selection. He pulled out a…strange looking outfit, and chuckled. "Someone was a pimp." He remarked with a laugh. "I am never wearing this." He put it back, laughing softly.
She laughed as well when she saw the outfit, nodding, “That’s definitely an outfit I can’t see you wearing, ever.” Pulling out an outfit of her own, she wrinkled her nose and giggled, “Who in their right minds buys anything neon green? Especially a crop top and matching bottoms? That’s a no from me.” She put the outfit back into the closet and went back to searching with a smile.
Jay nodded, laughing softly. "Mhm." He pulled out a tuxedo set. "Oh, this is nice." He commented. "I'll never get a chance to wear it, though." He put it back, and kept looking.
“You could wear it right now? And I could match you in one of these fancy dresses I would never have an occasion to wear to.” She pulled out a lavender dress that was slightly poofy and mid thigh length, “Like this one, beautiful, but no reason to wear at all.” A slight smile crossed her face and she shook her head, putting it back away and looking for clothes she actually needed.
