Jay laughed softly, playing with Leo. Leo tugged hard at the cloth, and it tore, sending the little puppy sprawling. Jay chuckled softly.
Jay laughed softly, playing with Leo. Leo tugged hard at the cloth, and it tore, sending the little puppy sprawling. Jay chuckled softly.
“Guess you guys are too strong for the cloth,” She joked when she heard it tear and saw Leo tumble back with a piece of it in his mouth, “We’ll have to find a new one out in town.” Checking the rice again, she figured it was almost done and tugged it to the side of the fire so it wouldn’t cook as fast.
Jay nodded. "Or a bit of knotted rope would be better." He said. "Is the Rice done yet?" Leo dropped the cloth, and sniffed at the rice hungrily.
She nodded, “Just finished.” Nudging Leo our of the way, she set the pot of rice on the floor and grabbed the puppy’s bowl. Before either her or Jay could eat, she scooped some into the puppy’s bowl and set it down for him to eat.
Leo happily started eating, tail wagging happily. Jay smiled slightly. "You can eat first." He said to her. "I'm not really hungry."
Delia nodded, dividing the food in half and starting to eat her half of the rice. She polished off her side quite quickly, much to her disappointment. Before she could start eating his portion though, she slid the pot and spoon over to him and relaxed back on her elbows again, “There you go.”
He nodded. "Thanks." He started eating. Leo finished his portion and padded over to Jay, sitting down and staring up at him beggingly, whining softly. Jay looked at the puppy. "No. Not for you. You already had some." He told Leo, and kept eating.
“C’mere Leo,” She called to the puppy, watching as he ignored her and gave Jay even bigger and sadder puppy eyes. She sighed and rolled her eyes, a small smile crossing her face as she gave up on the puppy and started packing her bag instead, “Stinker.”
Jay finished his food, and looked down at Leo. "No. I'm not spoiling you by feeding you just because you beg." Hs said sternly. "So stop it." Leo whined, and his tail drooped.
Delia rolled up her blanket as tight as she could and stuffed it into her bag, moving the cans around and making more space for anything they might find and need. “I warned you Leo,” She said, glancing at the sad puppy, “Are you two ready to get going?”
Jay nodded. "Yeah, think so." He replied, grabbing his backpack and putting it on. He scooped his hat off the floor, pulling it on to cover up his hair. Leo whined again, then seemed to decide it was hopeless, and stretched, standing.
Grabbing her crutches from where they were, she pulled herself to her feet and made sure her backpack was comfortable on her shoulders. “Well Leo? Are you going to be a good puppy and walk with us? Or do you need to be carried in one our packs until we find a leash of some sort?”
Leo barked softly, and tugged on one of Jay's laces with his teeth, growling playfully. Jay gently picked the puppy up. "No eating my shoes, pup!" He reprimanded, laughing softly. He looked over at Delia. "I'm not sure what type of answer that was."
“I think that was a, needs to be carried, answer,” She replied with a small laugh, “How much room do you have in your bag? I know there’s enough room for him to sit in mine if needed.” Making her way to the door, she looked out for anything or anyone they wouldn’t want to run into.
"Uhm…" Jay checked. "I can carry him." He settled Leo in his backpack, and smiled slightly. "Let's go." He said, looking over at Delia. Leo nestled down in Jay's backpack, watching curiously.
A small smile crossed her face and she nodded, heading out of the restaurant cautiously. Her eyes darted back and forth and she looked around at the roads they could take, “What should we explore first?”
Jay shrugged. "I don't know. Where do you want to go? What do you want to look for?" He asked, looking over at her. There was a lot to explore here, that was for sure. Leo barked softly, tongue hanging out of his mouth.
“A lot of things, but mainly, I want a new pair of pants.” She looked over at him and back, “Maybe we should check one of the houses, or I think I see apartment building over there.” Delia walked a little ways away from the restaurant and looked around at their options, “Or we could go over and try to find some more food in the other fast food place.”
"Clothes first. We have a bunch of food." He smiled. "Hey, maybe we could stay in one of the apartments tonight. In an actual bed." He said with a soft laugh.
Her lips twitched up barely and she nodded, “Now that, would be absolutely amazing, especially if there were pillows too.” With where they were going figured out, she started toward the apartment building, making sure Jay was coming with as well as she hobbled along.
Jay followed her. "Ohh, that would be amazing." He said. It felt like forever since he'd last slept in an actual bed. He looked up at the apartment building. "One of these has to have a bed. If necessary, we could scavenge from the others for bedding and stuff."
(It would be absolutely hilarious if they ended up sharing a bed XD)
(XD Yessssssss)
“There we go, that can be our mission, along with finding any supplies we need.” Her barely visible smile grew a little more at the though of not having to sleep on the floor. When they reached the doors, Delia slowed down, checking inside first before heading into what looked like a main lobby.
Jay followed her, gun at the ready. Leo barked from the backpack, tongue hanging out of his mouth happily. Jay smiled slightly, and kept an eye out for anyone. He didn't see anyone, which was good.
Making her way to the elevators that surely didn’t work anymore, she looked around the floor. Nothing caught her eye to look at and soon she was looking for a staircase, spotting one only a little ways away tucked against the wall. “Anything you want to look at on this floor? Or should we go up and check out the apartments?”
Jay shook his head. "I don't see anything worthwhile. Let's check out the apartments." He knew many of the apartments would stink of spoiled food or worse, and wasn't exactly looking forward to the assault on his nose.
