Charlotte felt incredibly sick. With guilt, she wasn't sure why. And because of the injustice. If there was a single thing she hated, it was when things weren't right. Injustice was something she was used to being able to stop. Someone stealing her aunt's purse? Toss them across the street. She couldn't exactly toss an entire kingdom across the street. "I'm going to be sick," she mumbled faintly.
Quinn opened an eye. "Then open the window and throw up out of it." He replied softly, closing his eye again, leaning against the window.
Charlotte didn't hear his words, and curled up again, leaning against the wall of the carriage. She wondered how much time had passed in London. Maybe time was different there.
Quinn was silent. This is why you agreed to come along, remember? Because none of the nobility will, and you can rest for a while.
Charlotte unclenched her fists to see several crescent-shaped dots of blood. Shaking her head at herself, she wiped the blood on her dress and pulled a book out of her bag.
I'm a poor excuse for a king. I can't sleep alone, I hardly eat, i drink too much, I… He shook his head very slightly.
Charlotte had been reading for several minutes before she realised she'd stained the book. Dammit. "Sorry, I don't suppose you have bandages?" She asked quietly.
Quinn looked up. He sighed softly, and reached over, pulling a first aid kit out from a drawer. "Here." He said.
Charlotte carefully took the kit. "Thank you," she said softly, taking out a bandage and wrapping it around her hand, ripping it in half to wrap it around her other hand as well.
He nodded, closing his eyes again as he leaned against the window tiredly.
Charlotte closed the box with a snap and placed it beside her before going back to her book.
Quinn sighed softly, eyes still closed.
(Wanna timeskip a bit?)
(Omg yes thanks I had too much anxiety to ask XD but yes please)
(lol ok)
A few hours later…
Quinn had fallen asleep, curled into a ball and leaning against the window.
The carriage rolled to a stop, and Aster opened the door.
Charlotte's head snapped up, and she awoke from her light sleep. "Where are we?" She asked briskly.
"A town." Aster replied, going over to Quinn and putting a hand on his shoulder, lightly. "Time to wake up, Quinn." He said gently.
Quinn's crimson eyes snapped open, and he looked up at Aster with a small nod. "Okay."
Charlotte sighed and curled up again. "Are we going to have to get out?" She inquired softly.
Aster nodded. "Yes, unless you want to sleep in the carriage. We have rooms at the hotel." He replied. He looked at Quinn. "You feeling okay?"
Quinn mumbled something unintelligible, shaking his head slightly.
Charlotte quickly exited the carriage, wrapping her arms around herself.
Aster nodded. "Okay. Come on." He helped Quinn up, then let go. He headed outside. "Lottie, are you alright?" He asked her.
Quinn took a moment to compose himself, then got out of the carriage, looking like he usually did; a light smirk and a mischievous, flirtatious spark in his eyes.
Charlotte nodded, feigning a small smile. "Let's hurry, please," she requested quietly. She was trying to be just as loud and obnoxious as usual, but she couldn't quite get it right.
Aster raised an eyebrow. "You sure?" He asked. He sighed softly, and he and the other guards led them inside.
Quinn was silent.
Charlotte followed briskly, looking around briefly at her surroundings before returning her gaze directly ahead.
It was a small, but clean town, painted in bright colors. Aster led the into the hotel, which was painted a brilliant blue.
Quinn remained silent, eyes still slightly dull.
