Shay ruffled Lander's hair as he passed in thanks. "I'll save you a bagel yea?" He called over his shoulder, strutting out of the room with his hands in his pockets. Layla fluttered, landing on his shoulder with a soft squawk. He walked casually without a care in the world.
Kikiro smiled crookedly. "This isn't my first time in this country." She said, even as she subconsciously picked up a pair of chopsticks instead of a spoon. She sat next to Aster, gently poking her waffles with a stick. "Although, I'll never understand the need for so many calories." She deadpanned.
"Thanks!" Lander called out. Sasha sat at his feet, grooming herself as well. He glared at his hair. He had almost had it perfect until Shay ruined it. He grabbed some expensive magical gel and ran his fingers through his hair. Finally satisfied he nodded, grabbed his bag, yelled "Come on Sasha!" over his shoulder and left, Sasha trotting after him.
"Cause they're delicious," Aster said through a mouthful of waffle. Powdered sugar covered her mouth. "So why not?"
(are they all lumped into the same classes or)
(yeah how about they all have a potion class first)
Shay breezed through the dining hall, stopping to chat to a few choice ladies, before he scooped up a plate for breakfast. He made sure to grab the best looking bagel and a container of cream cheese for Lander, along with his pile of toast and eggs. Now the trouble was finding a table. There wasn't nearly enough free space as he liked. He spotted the street rats converging on a single table, his lip curling in annoyance which turned into a rather nasty smile as he spotted that they table next to them was somewhat empty. "Shoo." He barked at the single kid sitting there, who booked it without picking up his food. Shay sat, smirking at the rest of the room like a king without a crown.
Kikiro felt her chest tickle oddly as a laugh bubbled up. She released it, looking a little bewildered. She honestly couldn't remember ever laughing in her life aside from a few times as a child with her father. Her cheeks heated and she felt the need to look away from Aster, focusing on her breakfast. "Oh." She said dumbly as she looked between her yogurt and chopsticks. "How dumb." Kikiro muttered, flicking the chopstick around with a spell to transform it into a spoon.
“Risa, wake up!” Olive called, all ready for the day. Her hair was up in a messy bun and she had on an amulet that matched her brown eyes. “I won’t wait all morning for you!” Olive walked over to her bed, hoping that her friend would get up. She was not known for being a patient girl.
Archer slipped outside of his dorm and into the hallway, heading to breakfast. Once there, he got a tall stack of waffles with syrup drizzling down, and a glass of apple juice. He looked around for someone he knew.
Jasper looked up from his schedule to spot Shay sitting at the table next to the rats'. He'd never considered the guy worth enough to be his friend, but he still felt offended. "Little fuck," he murmured.
(OI! He's sitting by them to antagonize them. Jezz.)
(i know but he doesn't and also he'll snap at anything if it looks at him weird)
Risa rolled over sleepily.
“I’m up,” she murmured, eyes still closed.
She’d definitely stayed up too late the previous night reading.
Sylvain had joined the others at breakfast, but now he was more wary than ever, feeling jumpy anytime someone walked by him. He kept a sharp eye out for Jasper, ready to run away if he saw the other guy.
“Okay well hurry up and get dressed,” Olive added with a frown, checking her watch. “We need time to eat.”
Archer found the table with the other street kids and sat down with them, giving a sleepy “Morning, everyone” to them before digging into his breakfast.
(hmmm i'd make jasper go sit with shay but like. he's got too much pride for that i think)
“Go on ahead,” Risa said, “I’ll join eventually.”
She sat on the edge of her bed and reached for her uniform.
“And don’t worry, I don’t intend to miss any class.”
“Want me to grab you anything?” Olive asked, glancing at Risa as she walked to the door. She gave herself a once-over, just to make sure nothing was out of place (and that her skirt was as high as possible without getting her in trouble), and tugged her stockings a little to fix a wrinkle.
(omg olive what an icon)
Jasper saw Sylvain sit down with the rats and raised his eyebrows. He wasn't going to bother the guy if he wasn't interested, but he would at least make himself available.
A minute later, he'd sat across from Shay. "Good morning," he said with a smile. Cleaver snatched a chicken wing from a plate and started nibbling loudly on it.
Shay glanced up, a piece of buttered–and jellied– toast half way out of his mouth. He had been completely distracted by the rats at the next table over, enjoying themselves no less, that he hadn't noticed Jasper sit down. "Ah–Good Morning Jasper. Did you have pleasant nightmares, you creepy sod?" He asked with a playful smirk. "Curse anyone's breakfast yet?" He added after a second of thought, chuckling into his coffee.
“No, that’s okay,” Risa replied, pulling on her uniform skirt and some opaque black tights.
“I won’t wither away if I miss one meal.”
Sylvain kept very close to the other street mages, and he felt his shoulders shrink down a bit when he saw Jasper take a seat nearby. He ducked down slightly and covered his face.
“Okay then,” Olive said cheerfully. “See you soon!” She opened the door and flounced down the hallway and to breakfast, getting herself a bowl of cereal with sliced fruit on top and a glass of water, sitting down at the table with the others.
“Good morning!” she chirped.
(shay oh my god)
Jasper smirked and raised his eyebrows in fake consternation. "Me? Curse anyone's breakfast? No, never." He paused. "Curse someone in general? Uh, yea, that I did." He leaned in a little bit and looked at the rats' table. "Can you see anyone missing from the litter?"
(Wait, sorry, who did he curse? I'm confused.)
(he put a cursed sachet under eric's bed. it would've been archer but archer is the furthest one away and he would've noticed if someone tried to levitate a sachet across the bedroom under his bed. now eric just had night terrors and is gna be very late and just have a bad time overall.)
Shay arched a brow at Jasper, looking faintly annoyed at the implication that he cared enough to notice one of the rats missing from their little group. So he said as much. "Does it look I care? So you cursed one, good for you. Now there's one less gnat getting in the way of my future here." He waved a hand dismissively, feeding Layla a piece of toast. She made a little sound of thanks before leaning down to munch on it. Shay wondered idly what was taking Lander so long to do his hair. He hadn't messed it up that bad…
Jasper's smirk faded a little. That was not the dramatic reaction he'd wanted. He leaned back and tilted his head, then blew forcefully into his fist. Three tables down, a mountain of papers shot up into the air; the student who they belonged to stood up and stared incredulously as the pages of his grimoire floated down around him like feathers.
Mre had walked in, just at that moment and rushed to help the students. He picked up the papers on the floor near him and handed them to the other, not looking at them in respect. "Here you go." He said quietly.
