Eric looked at Navy, who was now flapping her wings at Bellamy and poking gently at her with her beak. He pressed his lips together, the silence covering the table like a blanket.
"Energy manipulation spells need few ingredients, if any, and they're really quick," he stated suddenly. "You can leave your grimoire with a friend and summon it when you need it. Bellamy can fetch you any fresh herbs or rocks you want. Any witch who knows you would be glad to help you." He glanced at Archer. "Just FYI," he muttered.
Archer raised his eyebrows a bit. “Thanks,” he said quietly. He didn’t know why he had such a hard time opening up to people. He didn’t have a “tragic backstory” or anything. Stop. I know what you’re thinking. Stop it, Bellamy told him. Archer sighed. Bellamy was right. “I’m done with my waffle if anyone wants me to throw something away for them.” He indicated a nearby trashcan with a tilt of his head, standing up.

Yeah, throw away that frown, Eric thought, then promptly cringed. He must've been much more tired than usual if his brain came up with such absolute bullshit. Navy sensed his irritation and hopped on the crook of his elbow, leaving Bellamy alone.
Archer glanced at the group one last time before going and throwing away his plate. Bellamy stayed where he was, turning his head to watch his witch with beady black eyes. Archer turned back around and headed to his seat again.

Aster had been contentedly munching on her waffles and watching the conversation happen around her. She looked down at her watch and frowned. She grabbed her bag and started riffling through it, looking for her schedule. "Hey do classes start at nine? Because if so we need to go, like now."
Kikiro had long since finished her breakfast of yogurt and granola, and had been sitting quietly, observing others her age as she fed Calcifer catnip treats. He was currently sprawled on his back on the table, his tiny body purring with contentment. At Aster's question she pulled out her schedule. "I have potions at nine." She said, her voice betraying her interest the tiniest bit.
Aster's face brightened and she looked at Kikiro. "Me too!" she started to grab her bag and stand up. She had a tendency to be late and would prefer not to start off the year that way. Cagney usually reminded her about things but he was too busy exploring the new surroundings. She summoned him to her. "Anyone else? Potions at nine?"
"Pretty sure we all have it," Eric said, at last pulling out a crumpled piece of paper from his backpack and going over it quickly. "If our bedrooms are in the same hallway, we have the same classes, maybe?"
Aster pursued her lips and tilted her head to the side in confusion. 'Idiot,' Cagney hissed. 'Be nice,' Aster scolded. "But the girl's and the boy's rooms are on separate floors."
Eric blinked a few times as he processed the information, then looked away. "Uh, I didn't really notice…I just kind of looked for my name on the list," he mumbled, rubbing the nape of his neck. "I didn't really look at the others."
Navy tugged lightly at his tie, and he huffed. "What, you knew? Thanks."
Kikiro had picked up a limp Calcifer, who looked more than happy to continue being lazy. "Perhaps we are just fortunate. I'm sure many were aware of how difficult this journey would be if we were left alone." She said mildly, remembering to wait for the others this time before taking off. Their professors had to that being considered a second class mage would put a damper on any junior mage. Kikiro just hoped that the professors didn't share the same sentiments as other students.
Aster shrugged and grinned at Eric. "It's no biggie. Who else is ready to go?" she asked, fully standing now. Cagney could sense her anxiety and hiss. He always did that. Aster was rarely anxious, but when she was, she felt it in full force. As a result, it almost hurt Cagney.
Lander shoved a bite of bagel in his mouth. "We should go," he said through his mouthful. "We gotta get there before the rats take over."
Jasper groaned and got up, throwing Cleaver's tail around his neck. "So now we're gonna do stuff just because they do first, huh?" He threw another look to the rats' table as he walked away. He was a little disappointed that Sylvain hadn't made a move yet, but it's not like he was in love. There were plenty of others who would be interested.
Shay scowled, rolling his eyes. "It's not like we don't also have class right now." He muttered as he stood, slinging his bag over his shoulder. Layla flew up to perch on his shoulder. "I don't know about you, but I like to get good seats, with good people." He added on after a millisecond of thought.
Lander nodded, following Shay and taking his bagel with him. "I didn't even see them get up, for the record. I was just saying it was proabably time to go."
Jasper bit back a reply as he started walking to class.
You could try being a little nicer, Cleaver said quietly.
"I could, but where's the fun in that?"
“Let’s go,” Archer added, standing. He searched his bag for his schedule to actually check if he had potions. Thankfully, he did. I could’ve told you that, sighed Bellamy. Of course he knew and didn’t tell Archer. He smiled slightly, not even really aware of it, because he was excited for a real potions class. It was fantastical.
“I think it’s time to head to class,” Olive told Risa, seeing everyone getting up to leave. “I have potions first, do you?”
Risa nodded. “Looks like it. Did you want to get going?”
She finished up her breakfast and started gathering up her things to go.
Sylvain did his best to stay far away from Jasper as he went to class, waiting a few minutes after he left to start walking.
Just please let there be seats available, not next to him…
When Sylvain entered the classroom, Blair waved him over to a seat in the front corner of the room. "Hey, you wanna sit over here?" He asked, pointing to an empty seat next to him.
Sylvain nodded and rushed over. He set down his bag and smiled at Blair.
“This should be pretty interesting. I don’t really know a ton about potions yet.”
"It's my main field, but I want to learn some fancy crap." Blair laughed, pulling out one of his lucky bottles holders to put the potion bottles in.
Eric sat next to Sylvain, leaving a few seats empty next to him for the others.
"I've heard old magic takes a really long time to practice, with all the unnecessary steps and stuff. In all honesty, if there's any steps that I'm sure aren't needed, I'll just skip them. Let the teacher yell at me. They'll shut up once I start getting A's."
