(About four feet)
Derlik crossed his arms, not caring.
Twili looked so concerned, moving to the river bank incase Nik needed help.
(okay)
Nik surfaced again after a moment, getting to his feet and wiping his eyes.
Derlik sat down, calmer now. He motioned to Smoke to come over.
"Come here," he said gently, a soft coo.
Smoke looked anxious, pacing the riverbank with his ears flattened to his skull.
Derlik sighed softly.
"He's okay, see?" He reached out, gently picking Smoke up.
Smoke mewed faintly, squirming a little bit, tail twitching. His ears stayed flattened against his hair.
"Hey, everything is okay," Derlik said gently. He rubbed Smoke's head gently.
Smoke mewed again, squirming in Derlik's arms.
(so I made Nik with Picrew: https://share-cdn.picrew.me/app/share/202007/44562_vxmshKok.png)
(I lov!)
Derlik gently touched Smoke's forehead.
"Relax," he said softly.
Smoke relaxed a little, but still seemed anxious.
"It's okay, Smoke. He's not in trouble anymore, and he's okay now." Derlik gently ran his hand down Smoke's bacl, glancing at Nik.
Smoke mewed again, ears still pinned back.
Derlik frowned softly.
"Relax," he said again, using his influence over Smoke.
Smoke relaxed, but his claws still poked out from his little paws.
Derlik let out a soft sigh, rubbing Smoke's head gently.
Smoke leaned into the touch quietly, yellow eyes flickering around.
Eventually, Derlik just touched Smoke's cheek, turning him human again.
Smoke blinked as he turned human, looking up at Derlik quietly.
Derlik wrapped his arms around Smoke.
"How are you feeling now?"
Smoke shrugged a little.
Derlik sighed a bit, scratching Smoke's head.
"You hurt Nik." Smoke said, not seeming happy about this.
"And he hurt me." Derlik pointed to his still bloody nose.
"but he's smaller than you. He can't hurt you as bad as you can hurt him." Smoke pointed out.
Derlik nodded a little, sighing.
"Should I apologize?" He asked.
"Only if you actually mean it." Smoke replied, wrinkling his nose a little bit.
Derlik nodded.
"I will when he gets out, then."
Smoke nodded a little, looking around and shifting a little bit.
Derlik looked out at the river, specifically at Nik as he rubbed Smoke's head.
Smoke leaned into the touch, purring faintly. Nik climbed out of the river, sitting down on the grass and closing his eyes. His wet clothes clung to his body rather uncomfortably, but there was nothing he could do about that right now.
