"balcony." Suni replied with a shrug of his thin shoulders, taking a step back. "Well then, I'll make myself scarce. It was nice finally meeting you Connor. He offered a gentler smile before hugging Jas and making his way to the door. "I'll see you both tomorrow." He said in departure, closing the door behind him with a soft click.
Jas smiled softly at his friend before glancing at Connor and gently pulling him into a much needed hug. "Sorry about him, Sunincan be a bit much." He murmured, pressing a kiss to Connir's brow and nodding. He gave their interlocked hands a gentle squeeze. "Yeah, I'm ready."
I mean yeah, but I have doors… Connor huffed happily giving into Jas's embrace. "I don't mind some friends are like that and that's fine. I mean it would have to be if you two are close friends right?" He gave him a quick kiss on the forehead before releasing the hug. "Are we teleporting there or are well walking? About earlier, I heard some of the conversation and I do get jealous but not of someone who could make you happy. Also someone who cared for you so much when all I did was hurt you. You don't have to worry with that kind of thing. I feel like if I were to get jealous it would be wrong, he's passed on and it would just feel wrong t hate someone for loving you, you know?"
"let's walk, it's not too far from here." He replied softly, glad that Connor understood Suni and his relationship. It would have taken ages for him to explain to anyone else that they weren't together. Suni had no interest in a relationship with anyone and Jas had no interest in having a relationship with him. They thought of each other as brothers more than friends.
Has tilted his head slightly, ears flicking curiously. Ah so he had heard that. Jas breathed a sigh, ready to explain why Connor had no reason to be jelous, but he didn't have to. He smiled softly and pressed a gentle kiss to Connor's nose. "I know what you mean, love. Honestly I have countless if times I could tell where I've been jelous of you and partner at some point or another. I would understand if you felt the same." He lightly brushed a hand along Connor's cheek "but thank you."
"No need to thank me, kitty."Connor scrunched his nose out of reflex from the kiss. "Lead the way…" Connor nudged Jas to start walking. Even though he said those things he couldn't help the part of him that was slightly jealous. He had no reason or right to be, but he was and it made him angry at himself for feeling that way. "So how are you doing today? I know today things could be hard and I hated leaving you alone too. How about instead of seeing your friends today, we can just go back to your apartment or mine, whichever, after we visit Winston?" He suggested. "unless you still want to see your friends today."
Jas nodded slightly and lead Connor towards the door, this time not appearing anywhere new other than the building hallway. "I'm mostly okay. I'm used to it by now but," he shrugged and shook his head, embarrassed for being sad over his late husband's death, even after so many lives. "I always get like this around our anniversary." He glanced up and quickly shook his head "no my love, please don't feel bad. You have your job and life. I don't expect you to drop everything just because we're together now." He reassured, lightly brushing his thumb along Connor's hand. He flinched at the mention of seeing his friend and sighed "mind if we see them tomorrow? I'm not sure I'll be up for all the 'I'm sorrys' and looks of sympathy." He said softly. It wasn't up until very recently that he had friends who understood his situation, that he had people feel anything towards him other than hatred. He was extremely grateful for that but it still made him feel weird when others brought up his past and try to connect with him, even if they couldn't start fathoming more than one life lived
"Everyone goes through their own shit once in a while," Connor said softly. The day felt mawkish and the skies were darker than they were yesterday. Similar to the mood they both shared. He gave Jas's hand a reassuring squeeze. "Okay, then after we'll just go back and I can make you some food." He flashes a smile before he looked at the ground. He was watching his feet and trying to get his feet to make a certain rhythm. If there was one thing Connor could do it was dealing with other people's sadness or feel sympathetic for them. It was hard because he never got emotionally attached to people. He knew that making jokes wouldn't help but he didn't know how to do anything else. He pursed his lips together and furrowed his eyebrows.
Jas let a smile settle on his lips as he walk with Connor. "I'd love that, thank you sweetheart." He pressed a kiss to Connor's temple. He gently nuzzled his head "tell me about your day, dearest. How was your day back?" He asked with a tilt of his head. Has lead them through the city, opting for the shorter rout than the normal he usually took. "Surely it couldn't have been that fun, since I wasn't there." He grinned gently pressed a kiss to their linked hands. "Who knows, maybe I'll drop by every once in while." He winked and glanced up as they reached a park, merging the city with the forest.
Connor looked up to him and a slight laugh and a smile. His voice was energetic and crystal clear as he spoke. "It was horrible. I've never seen worse villains in my life. They were so predictable. I was talking to myself distracted and they stood there and said, 'are you talking to me?'" he imitated the villain's voice and body language. "He was about to cut off someone's head and he just took the time to stop and ask me if I was talking to him. Once I captured him I told him that today was so boring because of people like him. Then I told him I could be a better villain than him. Then I realized I was on live tv. But…" he slowed. "Because you weren't there it did feel really boring. I did manage to get info on a guy I had been tracking down for ages. He's the one who started to blow up buildings a couple of weeks ago. They were all so random. The weird part is his attacks are getting close to where we live or around there. So, just be careful. Besides that everything was pretty calm in the industry today. Remember those two people kissing on the mats in the training room I told you about. I think they're dating down because they seem to be very attached to each other.Has Suni ever met with the chef there yet. I told him someone might be interested in him and now he gets distracted a lot. It's like high school all over again." he giggled softly. He looked at his surrounding with a small smile spreading on his face, but then is disappeared once he realized why they were here.
"is that so my live? You can be a better villain?" He chuckled lightly and carefully helped Connor over a fallen tree. "He must have been really bad if your a better villain, sweet creature. He tilted his head, green eyes narrowing as Connir told him about the recent events. "Hm, I'll warm Suni an dthe others tomorrow. And of course I'll be careful. But you must do the same. I know you're a hero and all but please, I beg if you, stay safe." He glanced around, ears perking up at every sound around them. "I couldn't have guessed, they certainly were subtle with their show of affection." He replied sarcastically, lightly pushing aside leaves. "No but I've been telling him about them. He seems pretty interested, at least far more interested than in anyone else I've seen Suni introduced to as a potential lover." He chuckled lightly and gently squeezed Connor's hand, seeing his face fall and slowly doing the same as slowly remembered why Jas was bringing Connor here. "We're almost there."
"I'm just saying. Of course, I'll be safe Kitty. I may be reckless, but I'm only reckless with you." Connor gave a soft smile before he nodded slowly. "Okay." He hummed. "Tell me about your day today. I know you probably didn't do much, but I still would like to know. Like if you liked the breakfast I made you. Then again it wasn't much. It was just eggs and bacon. I know you probably eat more than that. I know I definitely eat more than that…" The place they were going to seemed to have had some damage but wasn't fixed. He looked at the clouds as they started to get darker. "I think it might start to rain soon," he mumbled. He placed his hand out, with his palm facing the air. "Nohting yet though." he said softly looking at his dry hand almost studying the unique pattern of his hand. He shrugged and went back to being silent.
Jas shook his head "you're mostly right. But i did really enjoy the breakfast and the note. It was extremely sweet." He pressed another kiss to Connor's head. "I do admittedly eat more but I still really liked it. You didn't need to do that, especially if you were leaving for work but I did really like it, thank you, my precious bird." He looked up as Connor mentioned the clouds. "How fitting." He mumbled, rounding a large rock and gazing around at the small clearing of grass and flowers, in the center two old marble graves in the center of it all. Jas slowly took a few steps towards the grave. It was nicely decorated with flowers and seemingly meaningless trinkets. Meaningleas to anyone save for Jas. He smiled wobbily and slowly crouched down, silently brushing aside dirt and weeds from the graves until names were easily visible.
"Winston Hawthorne - 1845-1918. Liked by all he met, but loved, adored and cherished the most by his husband, Jasper Loveheart."
Beside Winston's grave sat a similar one,
"Jasper Loveheart - 1844-1922
Loved by the only person that mattered most. That was more than enough for all of eternity."
Has lightly brushed over the words before digging into his bag and found an ornate pocket watch. He gently set it among the collection of books and trinkets surrounding the grave. "Hello, my White rabbit, happy anneversary." He whispered softly, voice cracking as he finally let tears fall
"I am not a bird…" he elbowed his side lightly before walking upon the two graves. He watched Jas when a sad smile. He looked at the two graves and the timestamps. So he died after Winston…then how did he… Connor shook his head not wanting to think of things like that. His eyes grew soft from the nickname. He started to rub Jas's back hoping it would make him feel a little better. He refused the urge to cry by taking a deep breath. When other people cried he would cry as well. Soft droplets from the sky started to fall. He didn't know if he should say hi as well or wait for Jas to be done. Instead, he waited and kept his composure.
Jas tried his best to compose himself, not wanting to cry the entire time there. He glanced up when he felt Connor rub his back, giving him a grateful smile and gently tugging at his arm bring him down to the ground. "Connor, this is Winston," he genstured between him and the grave. "And Winston, this is Connor, the one I never shut up about." He chuckled lightly and let out breathy laugh as he blotted away his tears with his sleeve. His ears flicked up as rain began to fall but he didn't really mind as he settled into a more comfortable position in the grass. "I guess you were right, bunny. I found love again." He said softly, looking over at Connor. "I think you would have liked him. He's definitely more feisty than all those years ago but time does that to you. You should have seen him the other day, nearly crushed my heart with the glare he gave the poor cashier." He chuckled lightly, closing his eyes as he felt a light breeze against his face.
Connor kneeled down as well. He gave a breathy laugh from Jas's comments. "Hey, Winston. Don't worry he never talks about you too. Jas can be hard to pinpoint sometimes and even hard to handle, but I promise you left him in good hands. You probably know everything about him so there's nothing I can really say much, but…" He let his hand travel down to Jas's. Looking at him with an almost angelic smile, when some tears started to form under his eyes. "I know I can be hard to deal with at times and I know I may not be the best person considering how many times I hurt him, but I promise I'll take care of him. No matter what. Even if this kitty does something so reckless and stupid like he usually does and gets his ass thrown in jail again. Honestly it gets hard sometimes to have to bring the person you love in because of the craziness they do, but without him I can tell you it's not as fun." He leaned his head on Jas's shoulder analyzing the grave. "And Jas? You're not alone anymore okay?" He finished.
Jas gave soft smile and gently laced their hands together. He used his free hand to gently wipe away Connor's tear and gently pull him close into his lap. "Thank you my love. That means a lot to me and probably to Winston as well. I know he was always concerned with my antics so knowing someone like you is keeping me in check probably helps him rest a little easier." He laughed softly, resting his head in the crook of Connor's neck. "I'll try my best to be less… haphazard with my own safety." He said, offering a small smile and pressing a tender kiss to Connor's head "I was never alone, sweetheart. It's just now that I get to be with the person I want to be with the most, without needing to potentially murder someone." He winked and glanced up at Winston's grave. "Rest easy my precious rabbit. I'm safe and well loved. There's no need for you to worry." He murmured, wiping away tears again and gently squeezing Connor.
He laughed sniffling a bit. The rain had started to pour causing the tears on Connor's face to look like raindrops. He wasn't crying because of Jas, he was crying because he was frustrated that he couldn't feel sympathy. He was faking it, he felt like that was the best he could do. "Yeah, I don't want to have to save any more people from possibly getting killed." Connor squeezed him back running his fingers through Jas's hair. He planted a kiss on his forehead. "Let's get you home before we both catch a cold and I'll make a nice hot meal for the two of us to enjoy. Then we can sit on the couch and just relax. How does that sound?"
Has nodded with a smile, a weak purr of appreciation leaving him as Connor pet his hair. "Yeah, that sounds great right about now. He breathed in deeply, eyes rimmed with tears as he slowly stood and walked in front of the grave, resting a hand over the marble. "I miss you everyday but I promise you we'll see each other soon. I'll visit again soon, bunny." He pressed his brow to the stone, letting his remaining tears fall before straightening and gently leaving Connor's hand with his. "Oh, and You'll be very proud to know that I plan on learning to cook, no more burnt food anymore, I hope." He grinned with a laugh and wrapped Connor in his arms. "Let's go home, love." He murmured softly, closing his eyes and taking a step back, pulling Connor with him. When he opened his eyes they were standing in the middle of the living room.
Connor shook his head feeling his stomach bubble up. "I am never getting used to that." He rushed over to the garbage can throwing up the breakfast he had that morning. He was hunched over as his stomach caved in. He coughed slightly before shaking his head. "That felt awful." he groaned. "Do you want to take a shower first or me I only really have one the thing is I don't want you to wait for the food I want it to be ready by the time you come out of the shower." he wiped his mouth with the nearest napkin. He stuck out his tongue hating the bitter taste in his mouth.
Jas flinched and followed Connor to the trash as he immediately threw up. "Sorry about that love, I should have warned you." He chuckled lightly and gently ribbed Connor's back. "I wouldn't mind the wait, we can always shower later. Gives us a chance to cook together." He suggested with a small smile. "My poor creature, how is that you can handle jumping out of a building and flying but suddenly moving through time brings up your breakfast?"
"I didn't have lunch today, so it's kind of just in there." he coughed slightly. "Okay then I will go get some towel and I'll attempt to teach how to make something edible." His wet shoes clicked through the house as he got the towels he said he would. "Here use this." He placed the other towel that was in his free hand on the table while he went to go prepare the kitchen. "What do you want for dinner anything special or rather what do you want to make?" Connor looked out to the sky, turning on the lights. "It would've been nice to do this in the natural light. I hate turning on lights, but you need to see to cook." he mumbled. He ruffled his hair making sure it was dry and wiping off the excess water before continuing what he was doing.
Has tilted his head animalistically and looked at the towel Connor had given him. He followed Connor to the kitchen, "what am I supposed to do with this?" He asked, looking around curiously as Connor started working in the kitchen. "I'm not sure, maybe some soup? Something warm would be nice now that it's raining." He suggested, blinking rapidly as the lights were turned on.
"Ramen it is then." He looked over to Jas with a curious look but laughed anyway. "Get used to the light kitty. Are you not wet?" He questioned. He finished drying himself, tying his hair into a messy bun. He wasn't soaked but there were his hair gets wet easily and his skin was wet and cold as well. "Oh and please tell me you know the basic steps of making ramen and not the instant one either." He grabbed a pack of noodles that were in the fridge. it seemed to be a pretty big pack. Enough for the two of them. He let them sit on the counter while he got various things like sauces and vegetables to give it the flavor it needed.
"oh, I thought this was for cooking." He laughed softly and fired his hair and ears, causing both hair and fur to fluff up. He wrapped his arms around Connor's waist and rested his head on his shoulder. "You're so cute when you get serious." He pressed a kiss to his cheek. He sucked in a breath, about to proudly reply that he knew how to make the instant version of noodles before he clamped his mouth shut. "Ah, no…I don't." He chuckled embarrassingly and poked at the frozen ramen noodles.
He made a distorted hum when Jas's arms suddenly appeared around his waist. "Don't do that…at least warn me first and you really have no idea?" He watched him poke the noodles and sighed. He can be so hopeless sometimes. "One, stop poking the noodles we have to let them sit. Two, I am not cute okay." He stated as he leaned down slightly to get a pot. He set it on the stove and thought for a moment about what else he needed. "How about I do it this time because if you mess something up it will make the entire meal taste bad." Connor chuckled. He wanted to get the Miso from the fridge but Jas had him stationary. "I need to get the Miso from the fridge kitty."
Has rolled his eyes with a smirk "fine, and yes, you are. Among a few other things but i'll stop distracting you, for now." He let Connor go for a moment, shifted to a cat and jumped up onto the counter then Connor's shoulders, tail flicking his cheek as he settled down and watched him gather more ingrdients. He purred in content as he watched Connor begin to prepare the meal, stomach already grumbling with hunger
