"Huh." He rubbed his eyes and yawned, scooting a little closer to her to get more comfortable.
"Huh." He rubbed his eyes and yawned, scooting a little closer to her to get more comfortable.
"Should you be getting some sleep? You look absolutely exhausted." She pointed out, leaning into him a bit.
"I'm perfect right here." His hand found her's and his fingers laced in between her's, smiling lightly.
"You are making your way up the romance scale, but sleep is important." She looked down at him, and squeezed his hand.
"I can't just sleep right here?"
"You could, but would that not be uncomfortable?"
"This is better than my bed," He said, then made eye contact with Jaiden. "Aw, we gotta put them to bed first."
Manon chuckled. "For that you would have to get up, Eli."
He groaned, sitting up. "Emma, I know you're at the bottom of the stairs, so c'mere." The little girl walked to them, somewhat sheepish. "Are you two in love?" She asked. Eli blushed slightly and scooped her up as he stood. "Let's get you to bed, yeah?"
Love? Manon stood with Jaiden, her cheeks pink.
He walked up the stairs and into Emma's room, a very princessy type thing use expect from a 6 year old. "I like her," Emma said as he helped her change. "She's really pretty. Are you two in love?" He chuckled. "We only met yesterday, knucklehead. But I like her too." He set her in the bed and tucked her in, kneeling next to the bed with his arms on it. "Sing me a lullaby!" she demanded, a big smile on her face. He nodded, and began the only one he knew, "Twinkle twinkle little star…" his soft tenor voice carried down the stairs, an increadibly pleasing sound despite how rudimentary and simple the song was.
Manon, who had been singing a French lullaby softly to Jaiden, paused to listen, a small smile on her face. Eli was sweet, and probably the only one who had ever managed to keep her from getting into a fight, and she liked him. A lot.
He kept singing until Emma was asleep, and walked down the stairs to grab Jaiden with a smile.
Manon had resumed singing after listening to him for a few moments, and that was what she was doing now, swaying gently with Jaiden in her arms. "Dodo, l’enfant do, L’enfant dormira bien vite. Dodo, l’enfant do, L’enfant dormira bientôt." Her voice was soft and musical, and there was a small, wistful, smile on her face.
He stood on the last step, watching her rock his baby sister with a huge smile on his face. God, she is beautiful. And so kind. His mind went to the question Emma had asked. Is he in love? He'd only know her for a day and a half now, so how close could they really be?
She finished the song, rocking Jaiden a bit more and turning slowly, catching sight of Eli. "She is asleep now." Her voice was quiet and soft, so as not to wake up the girl in her arms.
He mouthed a 'Thank you' before carefully walking up the stairs. He returned about 10 minutes later, his hair ruffled and a sleepy smile on his lips.
((i'm assuming he took Jaiden up then
"It is your turn to go to bed, Eli." She said, a soft smile on her face. She didn't look to tired, as she was used to late nights and odd schedules.
"Well, you're looking at my bed," he said, gesturing to the couch. "There are only two bedrooms in this place."
"Then go, lay down." She pushed him gently towards the couch.
"Where will you sit? There isn't enough room."
"I was going to take my leave, to let you get some rest."
He frowned, looked down at his feet. "I mean, if that's what you want…"
"Do you want me to stay?"
"Yeah, I would. It's only, like, 7:30, so it isn't that late."
