"No." She damn near pulled him out into the front lawn, shutting the door aggressively behind her.
"No." She damn near pulled him out into the front lawn, shutting the door aggressively behind her.
Manon winced, hoping that the noise didn't wake the sleeping girls upstairs, and sat back down on the couch, pulling out her phone.
There saw the sound of shouting from Lia, the words indeterminable, followed by a distinct SLAP!, followed by more screaming.
Her fingers paused their typing for a split second, and she debated going to make sure everything was okay.
After a few minutes of silence, Eli lightly opened the door and shut it, rubbing a rapidly growing red mark of the side of his face.
"She hit you." Manon stated, standing up and making her way over, examining the mark. "May I ask what for?"
"I don't know. She started shouting at me and said I had 'Lead her on,' then slapped me."
"My, you are incredibly dense. Come, you might want to ice that."
"What do you mean, 'dense?'" He asked, following her to the kitchen
Manon rolled her eyes, and dug around the freezer for something to use. "I man just that, dense."
"Well, what do…." Realization hit him right then and there, and he groaned lightly.
"Ah, you finally got it, yes?" She pulled out an icepack and handed it to him.
"What am I supposed to do with the girls now?" He shut his eyes tightly in frustration.
"I can watch them when I am not working, and I have a friend that runs a child center. For watching children during the day?" Manon offered.
He nodded, rubbing his eyes. "That would be great. Thank you."
"It is nothing. You seem to have found yourself in quite the predicament, I am just glad to help."
"There should be a bag of peas in there."
She nodded, pulling out the peas and walking over, pressing it gently to his cheek.
He put a hand over her's and winced at the cold.
"Should I have wrapped it in a towel?"
He shook his head. "I'm fine. Just stings a little."
"That woman has a good arm, I will give her that." She snorted, in a very un ladylike way.
He shrugged. "She used to play softball."
"Ah, that would do it. Pity, I kind of liked her."
"Please don't do anything, I don't want to make the situation worse."
