Fun didn't keep eye contact for long, always looking at a different spot. He wasn't very good with it either, it seemed. He managed to keep a small smile up, but it wasn't hard to see it was forced.
"You can call me Fun," the man said softly. "Everyone else does. I… don't really have a name."
"Alright, Mr. Fun. I- um…" Laura trailed off, hesitantly looking up at him. She watched him quietly, pulling and prodding at the hem of her sleeve.
"Mr. Ash said… said something bad happened to you… I- um, he didn't tell me what, but- um…" She trailed, letting out a soft sigh. "He… he said you were like me…"
Fun listened for a moment. He didn't respond right away, then nodded some.
"Yes, I had something bad happen to me," he finally said softly. "I… you did too, then?" He ran his fingers through his own hair, playing with a few strands of it.
Laura slowly nodded, dropping her gaze back down to the floor.
"That's right, sir… I- um, that's what Mr. Ash said at least." Laura shrugged a little bit, mimicking his behavior. She started fiddling with her own hair mindlessly, pulling a strand or two loose from behind her headband.
Fun tugged a bit more on his hair.
"I… Has he been helping you?" Fun asked softly. Before Laura could answer, there were footsteps in the hall, heading towards the room.
"Fun, I've got dinner. How are you- Oh, hello!" It was the same man as before, the one with the silvery hair that had been with Fun earlier.
Laura froze up when the other man came in the room. She fumbled a little as she stepped away from him, looking even more nervous and fidgety than before. She lifted her hand up just enough to wave shakily, dropping her gaze down to her feet.
"Hi…" She mumbled some, fidgeting in place.
The man saw how Laura reacted to him, so he quickly stepped to the side, going to sit with Fun. He set the plates down, not trying to look Laura in the eye. Fun looked between the two, leaning a bit against the man. Niether of them said a word, now.
Laura looked up at the two, still fidgeting. She hesitated before speaking, keeping her eyes on the floor when she did.
"I- I can go… if- if you want me to leave." She whispered. "I- I don't want to intrude…"
"I…" Fun trailed off a moment. He looked to the other man for guidance.
"You don't need to leave," the man said softly. "It's you're choice, it's okay." The man kissed Fun's cheek lightly.
"Thank you, for keeping Fun company while I was gone."
Laura looked back up at the two, a subtle smile pulling at her lips. She nodded a little, the couple strands of hair still floating in front of her face.
"I- um, alright, sir…" She whispered, the slight smile still playing on her lips. "And… um, you're welcome… sir." Laura continued to whisper, fiddling with the strands of her hair.
The man offered a soft smile. There were more footsteps in the hall, and in a moment Ash passed by. He paused in the hallway, taking a few steps backwards to look into the room again.
"Hey, Laura," he said softly, holding their two plates in his hands. "I wasn't expecting to see you out here. Have you been doing okay?"
Laura nodded just a little, walking over to where he stood. She looked up at him with a smile, seeming a lot more comfortable at his presence.
"Yes, sir. I- um… sorry for wandering…" She whispered, flicking her gaze down to her feet. She quietly continued to play with her clothes, flicking her gaze up to him.
Ash moved the two plates to one hand, kneeling down to hug Laura.
"You don't have to be sorry," he said softly. "This is your home too now, it's perfectly fine for you to look around on your own. Just make sure you don't go into anyone's room without permission." Ash smiled softly at Laura, patting her head lightly.
Laura flinched a little at the head pats, but seemed somewhat happy at the reassurance. She reached for his free hand, holding on tightly.
"Yes sir, I um… I won't." She mumbled, dropping her head back down to look at the floor. She fiddled with her loose hair, quietly kicking at the ground. Hesitantly she looked over to the other men, gently waving before they both started off down the hall.
Ash took Laura's hand, making mental note of how she reacted to the head pats.
"Then it'll be perfectly fine for you to go most anywhere in the building." Fun waved back a bit, and Ash closed the door behind them. He hummed softly, bringing Laura back to her room.
"How are you doing?" he asked again softly. He knew Laura didn't have an easy time dealing with other people.
Laura put her gaze up on Mr. Ash, shrugging her shoulders when asked the question.
"Fine, I guess." She mumbled, letting him lead them both down the hall. She didn't really have much else to say, quietly and obediently following along behind him. She was slowly realizing she had probably just broken one of the only rules he had told her, by going into Mr. Fun's room.
Ash stepped into Laura's room, setting the two plates down. He sat down, motioning for Laura to join him. He didn't seem to be upset at all- he himself didn't even think anything of how he'd found Laura in Fun's room. He let out a soft breath.
"I… are you sure?" he asked.
Laura lifted her head, nodding once again. She pushed a smile up, tucking her hair back out of her face.
"Yes, sir." She nodded, rocking back and forth some on the balls of her feet. She was fidgety, but seemed mostly alright besides that. She didn't worry herself too much over what he has said, deciding she could tell him later.
Ash didn't quite believe Laura, but he let it drop for now.
"Shall we ate?" He asked, shifting a bit in his seat. He didn't want Laura to have to deal with anything too much at the moment.
Laura nodded just a little bit, coming over and sitting besides him. She smiled up at him, adjusting her headband before dropping her hands in her lap.
"Yes sir. Thank you, for getting it for me." She hummed, smiling just a little.
Ash offered a small smile in turn.
"You're welcome," he said softly. He moved Laura's plate a bit closer so she could reach it, picking up his own fork and knife to cut into the pork chop.
"Do you need help?" He asked, not really sure Laura should be handling a knife.
((I sketched Laura when she was a little older, and thought you might want to see ^^))
Laura had reached for the knife, a little nervous to be touching something that could hurt her. As soon as he offered, Laura was nodding, setting it back down pretty quickly.
"Yes sir, if you don't mind." She whispered, letting the knife sit on the table, away from her.
(so. cute)
Ash nodded a bit, moving the knife further away for safely precautions. He cut into Laura's pork chop, making sure to cut it into small enough pieces for her. He cut up about half of it, pulling away to cut off a piece of his own.
"Are these small enough for you?" he asked.
((:D Ee, thank you!))
"Yes sir." She hummed, reaching for her fork to start eating. She hummed softly to herself as she chewed, smiling as well. The soft look on her face was definitely something to relax at. She seemed alright for the time being at least, pretty happy to be sitting here with Mr. Ash.
Ash smiled finally when he saw how Laura was doing now. He started eating as well, relaxing. He was glad she was doing okay, for now. He enjoyed seeing Laura be able to have some time relaxed. He doubted she'd gotten it a lot before.
