Laura nodded once more, looking up to him with a soft look.
"I-I know sir… but, um, I kind of want to…" She mumbled a little, playing with her hair.
Laura nodded once more, looking up to him with a soft look.
"I-I know sir… but, um, I kind of want to…" She mumbled a little, playing with her hair.
Ash let out a soft breath.
"If you do, then I won't stop you. I'll be here to support you, no matter what you decide to do."
"Um, right… thank you, sir." Laura mumbled a little, giving him a soft smile. She rested her hands up against him, examining her hands.
"Are- are you alright?"
"Yes," Ash assured. He carried Laura into the kitchen, the smell of cooking messy filling the room. The owner, Hinata, stood at one of the grills.
"Alright, sir…" Laura grew quiet, wrapping her arms around his neck loosely. She hid her face in his shoulder, trying to gather herself before having to say anything. She really didn't want to chicken out now.
Ash gently patted Laura's back. He waited a moment, then stepped forward.
"Hello, Ms. Hayashi," Ash said. Hinata looked up, offering a kind smile.
"Hey, Ash," she said.
Laura froze up a bit, shoulders tensing up. She kept quiet, glancing up to the woman. Weakly she pushed up a smile and waved a little. Her shoulders were still a little tense, but she kept up her little smile.
Hinata looked at Laura a moment, concern showing a moment. Still she looked back to Ash, still cooking.
"How can I help you?"
"Well," Ash said, "we were wondering what was for dinner." He held Laura close, patting her back lightly. He didn't think she was ready for this.
Laura curled up even closer, glancing up to Mr. Ash. She still had a little smile on as she studied his face. Despite her nervousness, she felt a little braver than she had earlier. There was no apparent reason to it.
Ash glanced down at Laura, offering a gentle smile.
"Well, I'm making some pork chops and apple sauce." Ash nodded, patting Laura's back.
Laura curled up even closer, glancing back over to Miss Hinata. She still had a subtle smile up, picking at the folds in Mr. Ash’s shirt.
“That sounds good, ma’am…” Laura commented softly.
Hinata looked at Laura, smiling gently.
"I'm glad to hear that," she said gently, not pushing Laura to say anything she didn't want to. Ash nodded as well.
"It sounds nice." He looked down at Laura, smiling softly.
Laura flicked her gaze back up to Mr. Ash, her smile picking up just a little.
"It… it also smells really good, ma'am…" She commented once more, her cheeks growing a soft color of pink.
"Why, thank you dear," Hinata said with a soft smile. She turned back to the food, still paying attention as she cooked. Ash smiled again, leaving his hand on Laura's back.
Nodding a little, Laura leaned back into Mr. Ash's arms with a soft look.
"Your welcome… I- um… I'm Laura…" She piped softly, keeping her gaze focused on her hands.
"It's nice to meet you, Ms. Laura," Hinata said softly. "My name is Hinata." Ash patted Laura's back lightly.
Laura could feel herself starting to tense up, but kept up her smile anyways. She glanced up to Mr. Ash, before focusing back on the other lady.
"It's… it's nice to meet you, ma'am." She responded, nodding just a little.
Hinata nodded a bit. Ash felt Laura tense, lowering his head to her a bit.
"Are you ready to go back to your room?" He asked gently.
Laura's smile faded some as she nodded weakly. That had definitely taken a lot out of her, but she had been determined.
"Um, yes sir…" She mumbled softly.
Ash looked up, offering Hinata a small goodbye before turning on his heel to leave. He patted Laura's back as they left.
"Are you happy with what you managed to do?" He asked gently. "Or did you push yourself too much?" The questions were genuine, no second meanings to them. He wasn't trying to imply anything.
Laura bit into her lip, seeming to consider the questions. She honestly didn't know right now, her heart beating in her chest rather hard. The adrenalin had been building the whole time they had been talking.
"I- I think I'm happy..? I-I don't really know, sir…"
Ash brought Laura back to her room, closing the door behind them.
"That's okay," Ash said gently. "You can tell me if you come up with an answer, but I don't need it if you don't find one." He lightly rubbed her back, sitting on the edge of the bed with her.
Laura curled up even closer, arms wrapping around his neck. She nodded just a little when he responded, taking a moment to just breath. After a few minutes, she sat back and gave him a soft look.
"I- um… thank you for going with me, sir…" Laura whispered in return.
Ash held Laura close as she calmed down, lightly patting her back occasionally as he stayed quiet. He tilted his head a bit when she finally spoke, offering a gentle smile.
"You're welcone," he said, voice soft. "And know that I'll always go with you when you ask me to."
With the bare traces of a smile, Laura curled back up. Her head was resting against his chest, hands folded in her lap as she played with them. Glancing up at him she kept up the shy smile.
"Thank you, sir… you- you don't have to though. I- um, I know you'll probably be busy sometimes."
