Oliana drove out of the garage, onto the road. She set up a call to Abigail via her helmet. "I sent you a map and directions to the places. We should go to Anabeth Marx's home first."
Oliana drove out of the garage, onto the road. She set up a call to Abigail via her helmet. "I sent you a map and directions to the places. We should go to Anabeth Marx's home first."
She looked at the map and directions and smiled. "Ah, Ms. Annabeth. Alright, that sounds like a "plan" to me." She chuckled as she said the word plan.
Oliana rolled her eyes and ended the call. She drove following her directions, zooming in and out of traffic.
Traffic. Not many people loved Traffic. Wait, no one did love traffic, and Abigail was one of them. She smiled as she zommed in and out of traffic. Normally, in a car or jeep, she wouldn't be able to do this sort of thing. And she was happy she didn't have to use a car or jeep on missions, but then again, if agents were on a undercover missions, jeeps or cars would work in the situation.
Oliana was the first to arrive at Anabeth's home. She parked her bike, taking her helmet off. Since it was an apartment block, it was unlikely that Anabeth would look out the window and see her. She did some stuff on her gauntlet, then she was masked in a police uniform. She would do it to Abigail when she arrived. No one could know about the Two Moons. This was the easy way to hide the fact.
Fifteen minutes after Oliana had reached Ms. Anabeth’s home, Abigail arrived. She parked her bike, turned it off and took off her helmet. She took one look at Oliana and a look of confusion crossed her face, before she looked at Oliana blankly.
"People outside of the agency can't know about us. We aren't the Secret Service, people can know about them. The Two Moons does more serious stuff, so people can't know about us. We can't show up as spies, but people don't suspect police officers. I can mask you with my gauntlet."
“Abigail nodded. “I understand.” She truly did understand. She realized that they can’t be known as spies who’re trying to get some information. “I always wanted to dress like a police officer.” Abigail said with an excited tone.
"Just give me a minute. I'll have to configure it a bit." She did some stuff on the gauntlet, hands moving rapidly. "OK. Stand still." She began to scan Abigail, then did a bit more on the gauntlet. After a few seconds of typing, she held it up and masked the other spy.
She instantly looked at a puddle of water to see her reflection. "Damn, I look like a legit police officer. No one will be suspicious of us."
"That's how the gauntlet works, it confuses people." She paused for a minute, realising what she just said. "God, that sounded so self centered. Sorry about that. Most of my partners are worse than me, I guess they've rubbed off on me."
“Don’t worry, Mate.” She chuckled and continued. “I understand, my other partners are assholes, so I completely understand.” She walked to the door and ranged the door bell.
"Let's do this," Oliana said, more to herself. She watched as Abigail walked up and rang the doorbell, then waited for Anabeth to open the door.
"Just a minute!" They heard her call from inside.
Abigail was nervous, so to calm her self down she took some deep breathes. Before she was even finished, Anabeth opened the door and Abigail stood still, frozen. Everything she was going to say had left her mind.
She's never done this before, has she? "Hi, Mrs Marx," Oliana stepped up. "I'm Jessica and this is Eloise. We're from the NYPD. We would like to ask you something about your brother, Maxwell. May we come in? You may feel more comfortable talking in your own home."
Abigail looked up at the sky as droplet of water fell onto her palm. She didn’t notice that the sky darken as she and Oliana left the agency. “Yes, you may feel more comfortable talking in your own home.”
"Ah, yes," Anabeth said quietly. "Come inside." She walked in, Oliana and Abigail following her. "We're sorry to bring back any bad memories, but we do need to talk to you. Your brother was the first person to contract the Glitch and to die from it."
“Indeed, the NYPD is working with a organization with the goal to end the glitch. We want to know if there were any symptoms or if anything happened to his health after he was contracted with the glitch.”
"Well," Anabeth started, sitting down. "I lost both my brother and my husband to the glitch. In the moments at hand, neither of the symptoms seemed the same when they were here. In fact, Daniel didn't have any. It just happened. He didn't want to go to hospital, so he died here. But Maxwell…come to think of it, he started to get it parts at a time. Everyone else gets it in their whole body the first time they get it, but Maxwell didn't."
“Huh, interesting.” Abigail said as she brought out a notepad and quickly jotted down what Anabeth had said. “Part by part. . , it’s sounds like his defenses were trying their best to make sure the virus didn’t go into his body. . “
"It also sounds like it got more advanced, figuring out our bodies. It got to the point where it could get us straight away and our bodies couldn't fight it."
“Yes, more advanced. Advanced could either be good or bad, but in this case, It’s bad.” She paused and then continued. “Do you know how your brother, or when he realized he had caught a deadly virus?”
Oliana listened as Anabeth answered, but she could see her wincing slightly. And upon closer inspection, she could see why. Anabeth's hand was glitching, which was a bad sign. Those whose hands glitched before the rest of them always got it the worst. She didn't know if Abigail saw it.
Abigail narrowed her eyes at Anabeth, she quickly inspected her with her eyes and gasped slightly when she saw her hand was glitching. She suspected that Oliana had noticed this not to long ago. “Ms. Anabeth, I know this is kinda of sudden, but did you know that your hand is glitching.”
I’m pretty sure she knows already. . .
"Yes, I have been for a couple weeks." She suddenly let out a yell as her whole body glitched. Oliana rushed to her, wrapping the now crying woman in a hug. "I don't want to die," Anabeth sobbed. "I know I am but I don't want to."
"It's OK, it's OK. We're gonna put a stop to this, you have out word." Anabeth glitched again, while Oliana was hugging her. It seemed that her glitch and Oliana's glitch mixed together, and Oliana stood up quickly. Her glitch had showed her something, something she didn't want to see. She looked at Abigail with a scared look in her eyes, backing away. "I…I'm sorry." She glitched away.
