Lucas took the glass from her after she finished drinking and gently kissed her head. He climbed into bed and slowly pulled Ashley so she had her head resting in his lap.
He moved his fingers in her hair, massaging it gently. He hated seeing her in pain like this. Headaches were the worst, and Ashley usually didn't act like this when she got a headache, so he knew it had to be bad.
"Sleep," he said softly. "I'll try to ease the pain."
Ashley moved so she could wrap her arms around him, burying her face in his stomach in the process. She hated when this happened, though it wasn't often. Usually, her mom had her stay home from school and would let her take a long, warm bath. That usually helped. But sleep sounded nice, too. Especially with Lucas playing with her hair like he was.
"M'kay… Thanks, babe. G'night…" she mumbled into his shirt, letting her eyes fall shut.
Lucas smiled softly. It surprised him how easily he had been able to get rid of his anger. Ashley did that to him. He could erupt like a volcano but when it came to Ashley, it was like water getting rid of the flames.
"Goodnight, sweetheart," he murmured, continuing to playing with her hair, even after she fell asleep.
Ashley woke up in the middle of the night, her headache still there but dulled so that it was much more bearable. Her stomach grumbled, and she realized that she hadn't eaten since lunch.
Carefully, so as to not disturb Lucas, she pulled herself off of him and climbed out of bed. She silently made her way to the kitchen, where she made herself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Lucas woke up with a start, finding Ashley missing. For a second, he panicked, but then he saw the light from outside and sighed in relief.
He got out of bed and stretched his sore legs, running his hand through his hair, ruffling them up. He opened the door and walked out.
"Ash?" he called out in a hoarse voice.
Ashley looked up at Lucas form her sandwich and gave him a small smile. "Hey, babe. Go back to sleep. I'll be back in a little bit," she assured him softly.
(I keep forgetting Lucas wears glasses omg)
Lucas squinted, shaking his head as he walked towards Ashley, hugging her from behind and resting his head on her shoulder.
"I'll wait for you," he murmured sleepily. "How's your headache?"
(Lol. I would totally do that, tbh. Which is why none of my characters do. ;)
Ashley sighed and leaned back into him. "It's… better, I guess. More tolerable now, but it's still there."
(I adore glasses, though, so I hate it when I forget. xD)
Lucas pressed a kiss on the back of her neck, wrapping his arms around her waist.
"Stay home today," he told her. "No need to go to college if you're sick."
(Lol. Yeah…)
"I don't think I'm sick, though… But I'll stay home until my headache goes away, okay?" Ashley said softly, shivering a little at the kiss.
Lucas hummed in approva, tightening his hold on her as he kissed her again, this time keeping his lips on her skin.
Ashley closed her eyes with a sigh, feeling his lips lingering on her neck. "Babe…"
“I’m sorry,” he murmured. “For being like that earlier…”
"Oh… Well, that's okay… Do you want to talk about it?" Ashley asked softly before taking another bite of her sandwich.
Lucas nibbled softly on her skin.
“It’s nothing,” he murmured against her neck, ceasing his attack on her neck to breathe her in deeply. “It shouldn’t have been anything.”
Ashley stopped chewing when she felt Lucas's teeth on her neck, her face heating up. She was better with her words than her actions, so he could fluster her much more easily when he did things like this.
She swallowed hard before setting the last of her sandwich down on the counter. It looked like she wouldn't be finishing it after all…
"If you're sure… Just know that I'm here if you want to talk about it, 'kay?" she murmured as her hands found her boyfriend's and held onto them.
At times like these, Lucas was pleased to have fallen for Ashley. He wasn’t good with words, but he didn’t have any problems expressing what he felt through actions, whereas Ashley was much better with her words.
He nodded, tightening his hold on Ashley’s hand before letting one go.
“Finish your sandwich,” he murmured to her. “So I can carry you to bed.”
Ashley smiled a bit and picked up her sandwich. She finished the last few bites of it, then twisted around to kiss Lucas’s cheek.
“I love you, babe…” she murmured softly.
“I love you, too,” Lucas replied quietly before picking up Ashley in his arms, taking her to their room, turning off the lights in the process.
Ashley giggled softly when Lucas picked her up and carried her. She looked up at him with a small smile, then reached over to kiss his cheek.
“Mind if I change into pajamas, babe?” she asked softly.
Lucas set her on the bed and nodded.
“Go ahead,” he said, stretching again.
Ashley stood and made her to the dresser, pulling out a pair of black sweat pants and a deep pink t-shirt. She glanced over at Lucas and raised an eyebrow.
"You're totally going to watch me, aren't you?" she wondered with a small smile.
All the sleep Lucas felt vanished immediately as his cheeks turned pink and he coughed.
“I would if I get a prize out of it…” he said slowly, resting his cheek on the palm of his hand. “Would I?”
Ashley chuckled a bit and walked back over to kiss his cheek. "It's the middle of the night, babe… Do you really want to do that right now?"
Lucas shrugged.
“What’s the difference?” He smiled, grabbing her arm and pulling her on top of him. His eyes flashed with an unknown emotion, his tongue swiping across his lips before he loosened his grip on her. “You owe me. Tomorrow. I can’t let my girlfriend get sicker, now can I?”
