(Uh oh)
(Whoops. I think that was just a typo. Lol. I fixed it.)
Ashley was already leaning against the driver's side door when Lucas approached. She tried to give him a small smile, but it came out looking more like a grimace.
"Who was that?" she wondered, her voice sounding more flat than she wanted it to.
Lucas furrowed his eyebrows at Ashley’s tone, but decided not to think too much over it. Ashley was just curious, after all.
“Her name’s Vanessa,” he replied with a grin. “She’s my partner in choreography. She’s pretty cool.”
Ashley nodded slowly, finally mustering up a small smile. "Oh… I see. How long have you two been partners for?" she wondered as she unlocked the car and climbed in.
Lucas sat on the passenger seat, furrowing his eyebrows at Ashley.
“Today,” he answered. “We just got partnered up today.”
“Ah… You looked like you’ve known each other for a while,” Ashley mentioned with a shrug as she started the vehicle up and headed for home.
"She's easy-going and fun to get along with," Lucas answered with a smile, leaning back. "She's got hilarious childhood stories of her demonic self. Anyway, how was your day?"
“My day was pretty good.” Until I saw you with that girl… “Classes went by quickly.”
Why was she so jealous? Honestly, she didn’t know, but she did know that she was jealous and that it didn’t feel right…
Lucas furrowed his eyebrows.
"Are you okay?" he questioned, resting a hand on her thigh and squeezing lightly.
Ashley flinched a little, surprised at the movement. “Mmhm… Yeah, I’m fine. Just a little tired, I guess.”
Lucas frowned at Ashley's reaction. What had gotten into her?
"Sorry," he murmured, removing his hand from her leg. Did he do something wrong?
“It’s fine,” Ashley sighed, keeping her attention on the road.
He sounded hurt… Gosh, she hated that he sounded hurt. But what was she supposed to do? Just come right out and ask if they were flirting?
They arrived home in silence. Lucas took off his shoes and socks and placed them neatly against the wall. He bit his lip and walked towards the fridge to take out a box of orange juice to drink.
When Ashley didn't say anything, he sighed loudly and turned towards her.
"Okay, did I do something wrong?" he questioned, getting mildly frustrated at her silence. He told himself it wasn't because of Vanessa, but something kept telling him that maybe it was. The way Ashley asked about her was proof, even though he didn't want to point fingers.
Ashley looked up at him from her shoes, her eyebrows raised slightly. She opened her mouth to say something, only to close it again. Her cheeks flushed as she finished taking her shoes off.
When she had finished, she stood with a sigh and made her way over to the kitchen. One arm was crossed over her stomach, her hand holding onto her other arm in and almost embarrassed position.
“I just— I dunno… I feel so stupid, but I can’t stop thinking about it,” she whispered, her head hanging so she wouldn’t have to look him in the eyes.
Lucas raised an eyebrow.
“Tell me,” he said softly. “I want to know what’s making you like this so I can do something about it.”
Ashley let out a heavy sigh and glanced around the room, stalling for a moment so she could collect her thoughts.
“I saw you with Vanessa. You two were laughing, and it looked like you were having such a good time… And— Oh, I don’t know… I guess I just… Got jealous? But I have no reason to be jealous. Right?” she asked, her voice soft and worried by the time she had finished, and she looked up at him with wide eyes.
Lucas looked at her with a blank expression, trying to comprehend her words.
Did I hear that right? Was the girl I constantly showered with love jealous over someone I didn't even know very well?
"You got jealous," Lucas repeated slowly, hoping she'd correct him. She didn't. "Because of Vanessa."
Lucas didn't blame her. It was him who allowed it to happen. He didn't think twice about what he was doing with Vanessa; he laughed with her openly and even let her initiate physical contact. It was obvious why Ashley got jealous. He would, too, if someone acted like that with Ashley.
He didn't say anything else. He merely cupped her cheeks and kissed her, pressing her against the kitchen counter. If she wasn't going to be convinced with his words, he was going to do it through his actions.
Ashley gasped a little as she was pushed against the counter. After her initial moment of shock, she reached up to tangle her fingers in his hair as she kissed him back.
She did know he loved her… But she had just been surprised and taken off guard by how intimately they had seemed to be acting.
Lucas pulled Ashley onto him, wrapping his arms around her waist as she kissed him back.
“When I’m done with you…” he whispered against her lips, pulling her off the ground. “You won’t even think about getting jealous…”
(Sterling was right. This is what they do every day. 🤷♀️)
(Lol. Honestly, though… They have a small obsession with each other. XD
Wanna skip to after?)

(Yup!)
Ashley curled herself around Lucas, burying her face in his neck. She nuzzled him gently, glad they didn’t have anywhere they needed to be for the night.
“Never, ever think I’m going to leave you, all right?” Lucas whispered, wrapping his arms around her tighter. “Because you’re all that I need and you’re all that I think about. Without you, I’m absolutely nothing. Do you understand me, Ashley?”
Ashley hummed and opened her eyes to look at him with a small smile. “Mmhm… I know, babe. I’m sorry for getting jealous,” she whispered softly, pressing a kiss to his lips.
Lucas kissed her on the forehead, sighing softly.
“It’s okay,” he said, holding her tightly. “It was my fault. I should’ve been more careful with what I was doing.”
