Ashley gave the other woman a small smile, remembering how she’d been jealous of her. She chuckled a bit and shook her head at her words.
“Well, that’s Luca for you,” she said, glancing in at her boyfriend. “Hey, babe. You doing okay?”
Lucas smiled at Ashley before he shot Vanessa a venomous look.
“I’m fine, Ash, she’s just being dramatic,” he told her with a grimace. “I just need to make sure I don’t put too much pressure on this thing.”
Vanessa, from behind Ashley, fell to the floor quietly, clutching her foot, stifling her laughter.
“Listen, sweetheart,” Lucas looked at Ashley with the softest smile he could ever conjure. “If you ever find out about a brutal murder of an annoying person, the killer would be me. I’m just telling you so you don’t find out from someone else.”
Ashley laughed and glanced between the door, snickering a bit at Vanessa’s dramatizing of Lucas’s fall.
“Well… Do you mind if I come in for a moment?” she asked, taking a step closer.
Lucas shook his head.
“Of course not,” he grinned, motioning her inside. “You’re always welcome in here, girlfriend. You’re free right now, right?”
“Yeah, I’ve got about a half an hour before my next class. I was just about to head to the library when I was passing by,” Ashley explained as she walked over to him. She sat beside him and kissed his cheek gently. “How’s your ankle feeling?”
“It barely hurts, Ash~” Lucas grinned, throwing an arm around his girlfriend, pulling her close.
Vanessa snorted.
“Right, because that’s exactly what you said to the nurse,” she said sarcastically, walking nearer to the mirror to fix her hair.
Lucas ignored Vanessa and instead focused on Ashley.
“Do ignore her, please,” he said, smiling brightly. “Anyway, what were you going to work on?”
Ashley chuckled a bit and rested her head on his shoulder. “Just an assignment for Chemistry. I have some research that wouldn’t hurt to be done a little early. What about you? You guys were working on a dance?”
Lucas nodded.
“We’re still trying to come up with a routine,” he answered. “So far we’ve come up with only one part, and I injured the ankle before we could get far.”
“Well, I’m sure you’ll figure it out soon. You’re smart and this seems like it comes naturally for you,” Ashley said softly, kissing his cheek gently. “And if you ever want an outside opinion on anything, you have someone living with you who would be glad to help.”
Lucas grinned.
“Thanks, Ash,” he wrapped an arm around her tightly. “You’re the best. You always know what to say.”
Ashley grinned up at him. She pecked his lips quickly before pulling away just a bit. "All right… I should probably get going so you two can finish up. I'll see you for lunch, though?"
“What finish up?” Lucas rolled his eyes. “I’ve got a foot I can’t dance on, and that annoyance of a partner will just make fun of me the remainder of the class.”
Vanessa turned around and stuck her tongue out at him before continuing what she was doing.
(Sorry, my friend and I were plot brainstorming for my book and the book we're writing together.)
"Well… Did you want to join me in the library, then?" Ashley asked, smiling up at him.
Lucas grinned.
“Thought you’d never ask,” he said, relieved.
Ashley laughed and got to her feet before sticking her hand out to help Lucas up. "Well, then, c'mon. Time is of the essence."
Lucas took her hand as she pulled him to his feet (or rather, foot), wrapping his arm around her.
“Good luck carrying my weight, honey,” Lucas teased.
“Pft. I’ll be fine,” Ashley declared as she tried to hold him up. “You’re not that heavy…”
Lucas laughed, kissing her lightly on the cheek.
“No? That’s good, then,” he said, grinning cheekily. “Bye, Vanessa! Have fun practicing alone.”
Vanessa snorted, but otherwise said nothing.
"She's funny," Ashley decided as they walked to the library. "I think we might actually be good friends if I got to know her better."
Lucas groaned.
“No,” he whined. “Please. I don’t want her ruining this amazing mind of yours. I love my girlfriend untainted.”
"Whatever do you mean, boyfriend? How am I 'untainted'?" Ashley wondered, glancing up at him quickly.
Lucas shook his head.
“See, Vanessa is a pain in the back,” he told her. “I have no idea why I thought she was cool that day. She’s a huge pain in the back, that’s what she is. When I imagine you both as friends, I find myself a victim.”
Ashley grinned and chuckled. "Ah, well… I mean, is not like you get enough of that at home, right?" she teased.
Lucas sighed.
“I would have pushed you away for that comment, but I cannot because you are acting as my cane,” he said, trying to push away the unnecessary thoughts from his head. He failed.
(Lucas, honey… That's not what she meant. Lol.)
"Whaaaaat? I ant tease my boyfriend once in a while?" Ashley wondered with a giggle. "C'mon, that's no fun."
