One of the soldiers swung off their horse and landed on the side of the cart.
"Get back!" Felix shouted, tackling them over the edge and onto the ground.
It was too late to go back, but he was outnumbered. Only one thing left to do. Felix took a deep breath and let magic course through his body. A green aura wrapped over him. His hands and feet turned to massive claws, and his body started changing, shifting to several times his normal size.
Eclipse moved at that, scrambling back out of reach of the men; who cried out his name, all of them except the leader growling wolfishly.
(Just as an explanation, all royal guards are a part of the wolfpack at the palace, but most of the kingdom is human. The horses at the palace are specially trained to allow for half-wolf riders.)
(Okay, cool.)
Felix managed to defeat the first guard, since he had caught them off-guard with his shifting. When he changed form, his added weight was enough to break several bones, to the point where they would not be able to move.
At this point, Felix had taken on a full bear form. He tried to decide who to go after next, but his mind was still racing, and he searched for Eclipse before proceeding.
(I don't like unexplained plotholes so I'm immediately like, wait, how? IDEA oh! Types fixed!)
Eclipse was huddled in the opposite corner of the wagon from where he had been before, trying to hold the knife he had been given in some semblance of defence, but he wa too scared o remember anything he'd ever been taught about it.
(Ah, I see lol)
Felix next went for one of the still-mounted guards, careful to not injure the horse in the process. He was taken slightly aback when both shifted into their wolf forms, prepared to put up a fight. The one he had nearly knocked off her horse took a swipe at him with a splayed-out claw, cutting into his nose.
(Also I don't really know a ton about how half-wolves, and in particular, these guards, would fight, so I'm just making stuff up lol)
You're doing quite well))
Eclipse managed to hold off the one he was dealing with, both having shifted and ended up in a tussle consisting of Eclipse attempting to not die, and escape.
(Okay, good to know)
Felix knocked over the half wolf he was fighting, trying to get back to Eclipse, but unable to. The guard got up almost as soon as she had been knocked down, and pounced on Felix's hindquarters, dragging him back with much more power than expected.
Felix twisted and kicked his hind leg to push her off, but by now, she had tooth and claw locked on him. Thankfully, with his thick bear hide, this didn't go deep, but he was afraid to move too suddenly, for fear he would injure himself worse.
He turned and took a claw swipe at her face, aiming for the eyes and nose. Felix only got in a cut on the cheek, but it was something.
Eclipse managed to break free, falling out of the cart, already injured, as the guard had managed to sink his fangs into his shoulder. Eclipse moved quickly to try and get further away, ending up tripping backwards over the wolf that had Felix, forcing her to let go.
Eclipse did just enough, even if by accident, to give the upper hand back to Felix. With a massive size advantage, he was able to pin the wolf who was attacking him and rip into her with tooth and claw. At first, it was just enough to send her reeling and she fought back, but he stopped her soon after by dealing a blow that sent her to at least unconsciousness. She may have been dead, but Felix didn't much care at the moment.
Felix threw himself between Eclipse and the final foe, teeth bared and a roar starting in the back of his throat.
Eclipse scrambled back out of the way, too shocked by the whole thing to even process the fact that he was injured as he watched Felix fight, his jaw agape in awe.
Felix started to charge at the final guard. He ran forwards and took a diving attack at his opponent, only to be knocked aside by brutal strength he did not expect. For a moment, he had to regain his senses and orientation in space. He slowly started to get up again.
The wolf had summoned the shadows to protect him, and had used them to knock Felix to the side. His power swirled around his feet as he laughed, "A weakling and a resistor, what fun." he said.
Felix, being in his bear form, could not speak in response, so he just let out another powerful roar.
Please help… I need help… he thought.
His form probably couldn’t hold too much longer, and he couldn’t exactly combat this with magic; the transformation was all he had.
Eclipse, had scrambled as far away as possible, semi-glad the that wolf was distracted. But that didn't help that he was still bleeding. Seeing the shadows he realized Felix had no way to fight them, and he summoned his own aura, a silver and black mass that pulsed faintly. Quickly he threw it at the wolf, causing him to stiffen, seemingly engulfed by fear, seeing things that weren't there.
Felix took the wolf’s distraction as an opportunity to attack. He lunged forwards, claws closing around his neck, but then the claws started to turn back to hands.
Felix reached into his belt and pulled out a dagger.
He was panting really hard.
Eclipse had slumped back, exhausted from even that little bit of effort, and was really hoping Felix could make it on his own or he was as good as dead.
Hands shaking, Felix dug the dagger into the wolf’s throat. A howl of pain escaped him, and he flailed, almost shaking Felix off. However, the young man pulled the weapon free and stabbed again in the ribcage. He had a tight grip on the wolf’s fur this whole time, desperately hoping he could win. And he did. He felt the large wolf collapse on top of him, knocking the breath from his lungs.
Felix was trapped under the half wolf and could barely move. His vision started to go a bit black around the edges, and his face paled.
The wolf soon shifted back into his original human form, staying that way as he breathed his last breath, the weight decreasing significantly.
Eclipse on the other hand, was already feeling dizzy as he suddenly realized he was bleeding, his mind fogging up as he stared at it.
Felix tried to push the wolf’s body off himself, but his energy was depleted and the effort was too much. His arms trembled as he pushed, and then he passed out. At first, just for about half a minute, and he woke up. However, he was on the edge of consciousness.
Eclipse was still staring at his injury in a daze, the use of his aura without moonlight had exhausted him, and his fascination with how the blood oozed from the bite was all his mind could focus on.
“Please… help…” Felix gasped out.
He lay almost motionless where he was, save the struggled heave of his chest and a slight tremble that spread throughout his body.
Eclipse blinked, snapping out of his daze when he finally saw the other. Feeling like an idiot he quickly move to help, shifting to drag the man off of him, which took about a minute, seeing as he didn't exactly have muscle to begin with, unless you counted constantly running from the guards, and climbing into the rafters to hide.
Felix lay there, gasping a bit.
“Thanks… I’m… I’m fine…” he whispered, “Just worn flat out…”
Felix had prominent bloodstains and such in several places. Luckily, with the bear hide, no injuries had gone deep, and some of the blood wasn’t even his to begin with.
However, at first glance, the blood oozing down over his face from the cut to his nose may have been terrifying.
Felix didn’t attempt to get up yet, knowing if he did, he might pass out again.
Eclipse nodded, sitting crosslegged next to him, not sure who to tend to first, or even how to do it.
“What’d you think?” Felix asked, casting a devilish grin, “I didn’t think first time you saw me transform it would have to be a bear… but here we are, yeah?”
