Eclipse finally found the area where Felix had dumped the body, and looked around frantically for Felix. Where are you Where are you Where are you Where are you????? he thought before taking a deep breath, trying to stay calm.
Felix’s hand hung over the edge of the gorge. He hadn’t realized that he was that close to the edge. He tried to push himself away, but the strength had left his body entirely.
Eclipse moved along the edge frantically, his eyes widening when he finally found Felix. Rushing over he shifted and tried to pull Felix away from the edge, his shoulder aching. "Felix, Felix wake up!!" his voice was scared.
Felix, half-awake, was able to mutter something, but it was indistinguishable, aside from a low, “ow… ugh…” and a few other small, pained noises.
Eclipse was still panicked even after he pulled the other away from the edge, whimpering as he tried to calm down, sitting beside the other and trying to take deep breaths. "C'mon… you're not a doofus you can help…" he repeated, trying to convince himself.
Felix's fist closed as he struggled desperately to wake all the way.
Wake up… wake up, this isn't the time…
He was gasping for breath slightly, only half-aware of some of the pain he was in, but the worst seemed to be at his side for sure, where he'd previously been stabbed. And he was aware enough to know that breathing hurt; the rise and fall of his body with each breath aggravated the wound even more after he pushed himself too far.
Eclipse got his bearings a moment later, moving to check the other's injuries. trying to see what he could do to help. Checking the stab wound first, he figured that was the worst of it, and decided to summon some of his own aura, mumbling under his breath as h tried to heal it, hoping to high heavens it would work and he wouldn't pass out.
Felix shuddered, suddenly gripped by a new and different pain as the aura rushed over him. His body stiffened. He didn't say anything, but he did make a small cry.
Once he could, he murmured. "Please… stop…"
Eclipse pulled away worriedly, the wound half healed and his vision a bit fuzzy from effort. "F-Felix?" he asked, terrified of the possibility that he'd hurt the other.
"You… don't have to do that…" he whispered, "We can't… can't both wear ourselves out so hard…"
Felix's hands were trembling a bit from the pain and weakness. His chest still heaved harder than normal with each breath.
"Then.. then what do I do?? I-I don't know what to do without you.. I can't…" his voice still held notes of panic.
"You won't be without me," Felix replied, "I'm not going anywhere…"
He gave a halfhearted smile.
"Give me a few minutes, and I'll.. I'll maybe be able to haul myself back to the cart…"
Eclipse nodded, taking a few deep breaths in an attempt to calm himself.
Felix laid as still as possible, also trying to steady his own breathing so he could better cope with the pain.
Eclipse watched him anxiously, waiting or him to speak, or get up, or somthing.
Felix slowly tried to sit up, but it was a little much. He sat there, knees tucked up to his chest and head bowed down. He was covered in mud on one side, and looked roughed up- even more so than normal.
Eclipse watched him worriedly, "F-Felix?" he asked softly, his voice filled with anxiety.
"Yeah?" Felix asked, "Give me a minute?"
He sighed and clenched his fist.
"I'm so stupid…" he muttered to himself, "I knew that I couldn't last that long…"
Eclipse nodded, still feeling upset and guilty, wishing he'd actually helped.
When he was ready, Felix slowly started to stand up. A woozy feeling passed over him and his vision dimmed again. But once he had regained his bearings a bit more, he figured he’d be able to make it back to the cart.
Eclipse stood after him, "Do… Do you need help?" he asked worriedly.
Felix paused for a second, contemplating whether or not to ask for help.
"Y-yeah…" he whispered.
Eclipse nodded, coming over to him and taking his arm, taking most of his weight.
“Thank you,” Felix said, shying away a bit with his gaze.
There was a slight wry expression on his face. In addition to the other injuries, he’d sustained a few new ones from falling off the horse.
He was also scared to let himself rely on anyone else, but it was true, this guy wasn’t bad at all.
Eclipse nodded, helping him back to the cart, feeling more nervous than normal.
