Sorrel gently rocked his body back and forth. He messed with Cas's hair because he seemed to like it. "You've got a really nice heartbeat now, it's going stronger than before." He whispered. It was a random thing to say, but he really needed to liven himself up before it felt like he was dead.
"Um… thanks." Cas closed his eyes and relaxed into Sorrel's touch, sighing quietly. He mumbled something incoherently, blushing a bit after doing so.
"What's that, now?" Sorrel asked. He'd heard Cas say something, but ultimately missed whatever it was.
Cas blushed harder. "Uh… nothing. Just… um… rambling to myself…" He said quietly.
"Are you sure?" Sorrel asked him. He laughed, softly, at Cas's words. He knew it had to be cute, and he wasn't going to stop at wondering.
"Yeah…" Cas hid his face again, not wanting to give anything else away. "Nothing."
"Okay then..!" Sorrel lulled. He didn't mind Cas's sudden guarding of words, it was okay, nonetheless expected. He looked around, honestly unsure of what to do with himself. He then met eyes with Cloud the kitten, and admired all of the little cats.
Cloud mewled loudly at Sorrel, catching Cas's attention. Cas looked over at the cats with a soft smile, and Nix came over to him.
Cloud followed Nix, pretty sure of what he was up to. "Cats are so interesting. They have so much freedom, and don't entirely depend on things." He muttered, with a soft laugh.
"Yeah…" Nix climbed up Cas's leg and sat on his shoulder, purring softly. "They're great. They've helped me through a lot of shit."
"I bet." Sorrel said, thinking of all Cas had told him. "I used to own a few koi fish." He whispered. "They couldn't help me though." He said, with a laugh. "Nix is quite the special thing."
Cas nodded. "He's trained to help with my anxiety." He replied, petting Nix with one hand. "He's definitely something."
"Oh really?" Sorrel asked. "That's awesome." Sorrel exclaimed. Nix was spectacular! "What a smart cutie! Good job!" He purred, scratching between Nix's ears.
Nix pushed his head into Sorrel's hand, rather like Cas had done, purring softly. "Mhmm. I don't know what I'd do without him."
Sorrel grinned with amusement. "I wonder if Cloud can do anything like him, it might help me out one day." Sorrel said, with a laugh. "After all, Nix really helped you."
"Maybe if we got her trained." Cas shrugged. "And yeah. I… I might not even be here without his help."
Sorrel shivered a little. "Cas…" He whispered. "What would I have been doing today, without you?" He sighed.
"Probably sleeping in or something, I'd reckon." He shrugged again. "I dunno. What do you usually do?"
"Bingo. You got it. I sleep, and buy things. I only rarely go to work anymore." Sorrel mumbled. "Its awful, I need to do better." He admitted.
"You're doing better than me. That's not really saying much, though…" Cas sighed softly, leaning into Sorrel again.
"Maybe we can improve our lives together? I could work harder, and you could do whatever makes you happier." Sorrel wondered, aloud.
"I guess so. I'll have to try and get a job when I'm old enough, though." Cas hummed softly, petting Nix again.
"Right, right. For now I'll support you, and eventually we can support each other." Sorrel said, as he completed his own thoughts. "At least that much is clear."
Cas nodded. "Sounds good to me. I'll do my best to help you out as soon as I possibly can."
"Thanks, take all the time you need." Sorrel said, with such a happy, peaceful smile. He adored having someone over that didn't just want him, and adored even more just having company.
