"It will be okay," he said, in a moment of surprising gentleness. "You'll find a way to get him out, I promise. I heard that there are some healers in the Sandwil Mountains that may be able to help him."
"It will be okay," he said, in a moment of surprising gentleness. "You'll find a way to get him out, I promise. I heard that there are some healers in the Sandwil Mountains that may be able to help him."
She shrugged her shoulders a little. "Maybe." she knew better than to get her hopes up. Knew better than to think he might be able to be fixed.
He grinned at her, although the smile was mostly forced. No matter how used he was to the sight of the prince, it was still heartbreaking to see the prince's twin sister seeing him in this state.
She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. She couldn't afford to lose control of her emotions right now, no matter how much it hurt to see Korain like this. She opened her eyes again.
"Well, you should probably get back to work," he said awkwardly, after a long period of silence. He wasn't sure what else to say.
"Yeah." she replied simply, standing straight. "Sorry for the trouble." she started to head off again.
"It's… fine." Jav smiled slightly at her. "It's my job, after all, as a handsome man, to help women in distress."
She rolled her eyes. "I'm going to punch you one of these days." She warned, shaking her head.
"I'd like to see you try," he said smugly. "No one has gotten the better of the captain of the guard yet. I wouldn't have my job otherwise."
"Well, then I'll be the first." she replied, mouth twisting in the faintest little smirk as she looked back at him.
(Hhh I totally wanna see her kick his ass sometime tho)
(Me too, honestly. That is going to be a scene, I promise.)
He grinned at her, mischief burning in his eyes. "Well, good luck, then. I'll be waiting for the day when you can."
(:D yessss)
She gave him an arch look, one side of her mouth tugging upwards faintly. "Mm. Once I no longer need to worry about staying hidden, perhaps."
(It should happen soon.)
"Yes." He sighed, rubbing his face. "And I don't have to pretend anymore." He shook his head, smirking, his mood changing instantly. "I'll be waiting."
(maybe, yeah)
She rolled her eyes, shaking her head at him. "Mhm. I'm sure you will be."
Jav winked at her before leaving the room. He almost ran into his brother as he did so.
"What are you doing here, Dae?" He asked, with raised eyebrows.
"Jumping out of a window," his twin said, in a rare moment of sarcasm. "What does it look like I'm doing?"
She shook her head at the wink, and went back to her work, trying to figure out what to do. She had thought the rumors about Korain were exaggerated, but if they weren't…if they weren't, that presented a whole new set of problems to deal with.
The two of them exchanged some mock insults for a moment, and then Jav left, to go meet some of his new recruits. Damen approached Rose. "Do you have an idea as to how to get him out?" He asked her quietly, standing a few feet away.
She shook her head a little. "No. I…I didn't know it was…so bad." She said slowly, taking a deep breath and letting it out again. "Korain, I mean."
"I'm sorry you have to see him like this," he said, voice tinged with sadness. "I wish he wasn't like this, but the way he's being treated…"
She nodded faintly, closing her eyes. "I had heard…rumors, but…I never thought…" She trailed off, shaking her head a little bit.
"Rumors never do justice to the real thing." Dae sighed. "When you have an idea as to how to get him out, tell me. I'll help to the best of my abilities."
She nodded again, opening her eyes and taking a deep breath. "Of course. Thank you." she replied, chewing on her lip for a moment.
"It's what I can do." He hesitated for a moment. "If you want the throne, the resistance can get it for you, too," he said slowly. "We need new rulers, anyways."
She took a deep breath. "One thing at a time." she replied. She knew that, technically, she was first in line for the throne. Korain was 20 minutes younger, which meant that unless she died, she was first in line for the throne. Which…was rather a relief, now that she knew the state he was in.
"Alright." Damen glanced around. "Well, I should go before the paperwork piles up so high that I have no time left to do anything." He smiled at her. "I wish you luck. Whenever you need help, just tell Jav or I."
