"I understand that," Damen said gently, taking a bite of the soup. "Long trips are okay. I just want there to be some way that we could heal your brother. Without attracting the notice of your uncle," he clarified.
He sat in silence for a little while before asking, "What will you two do? Once Prince Korain is better, I mean."
She nodded faintly. "I…I am not quite sure yet." she replied softly, eating some of the soup as well. "I want to take back the throne, but…we'll have to get ahold of the rebellion for that, as we would need more people."
"You won't have to worry about that," he said grimly. "Your uncle hasn't been making friends lately. Even if they're only watching, a crowd is much more useful to those you're trying to suppress than you'd think."
She frowned a little, nodding. "Right. Well. One problem at a time, yes? First we have to fix my brother." she cast a glance towards the bedroom, a frown tugging at her lips for just a moment.
Damen followed her gaze to the door, noting how much she seemed to want to go to her brother, and yet stay away at the same time. He smiled slightly. "Do you want to go watch him for a bit?"
She sighed, tucking back strands of hair again and grimacing. "I don't…I don't know. It's just going to frustrate me, that I can't help him, but…" she shook her head faintly.
"I know the feeling." Damen stood, walking past her on his way to the bedroom, brushing her shoulder with a comforting hand as he passed. "It will be okay," he said. "We'll make sure he can be healed."
She nodded a little bit, following him into the bedroom, where Korain had, eventually, turned back to the more human form, the antlers disappearing and claws shrinking back into his skin. Exhausted, he had slipped back into sleep, eyes shut and body limp on the bed.
(Do we want to do a time skip?)
(sure! when do you think would be best?)
