Sol hummed doubtfully, but didn’t argue. “Well I’ll make sure you get home early enough to get plenty of sleep.”
Sol hummed doubtfully, but didn’t argue. “Well I’ll make sure you get home early enough to get plenty of sleep.”
"Sounds good to me. Anything you wanna do while you're here?" He asked. "I can't leave yet, so… you know. Options are a bit limited."
“I’m happy to help with anything you need, or we can just talk,” Sol offered with a smile. “Or I could read if you need to do anything, I’m happy just being here.”
"Well, I don't need to do much right now, but I'm happy to read with you." Joey smiled softly and reached out to take Sol's hand in his own, much smaller one.
Slo’s heart warmed and he lightly squeezed Joey’s hand. “Sounds good, estello. What book do you recommend?”
"Well, I can show you some I think you'd like…" Joey got to his feet and led Sol through the aisles, pointing out books that he thought might interest him.
Sol paid attention to every title Joey pointed out and picked up a couple that intrigued him until eventually they wound up back at the counter.
"There you go. You theoretically don't have to check them out if you read them here in the store, but if you wanna bring it home to keep reading, you'll have to check it out."
“I might as well check them out, I usually go back and reread parts,” Sol smiled, setting the books down.
"Alrighty. You can check them out later or now if you want." He shrugged a bit. "You'll probably want to see if you like them first."
“I suppose I’ll wait then,” Sol said, walking around the counter and sitting in the spare chair nearest to Joey.
Joey picked up a book and started quietly reading as well, humming occasionally as he leaned back in his chair.
Sol was quite happy with the first book he started. Joey had already pegged his reading tastes quite well. He read in silence, occasionally glancing up at Joey.
Joey was pretty enthralled by his own book, focused in his own little world. He didn't seem to notice Sol as he flipped the page, scanning with words with his gaze.
At least an hour went by as they read in silence, content in each other’s company. After finishing his second book, this one having been rather short, Sol had to stand up and stretch.
Joey looked up when Sol stood, sticking a bookmark into his book. "Mm… it's almost time for you to go, isn't it? How are you liking the books?"
“They were fantastic, I definitely need to check a couple of them out,” Sol replied as he stretched. “Unfortunately yes, but I’ll see you again tonight.”
Joey smiled softly and nodded. "Well, I'm glad you like them… but I'm sad to see you go. It'll be good to see you again tonight."
(Should we time skip?)
(yeah! one sec)
Six o’clock rolled around and Sol arrived at the bookshop to pick up Joey. “Hey, estello, ready to go?”
"Yep!" Joey had already packed up his things and had been waiting for Sol. He followed him out the door, humming happily.
“Great!” Sol smiles, carefully putting Joey’s things in a saddlebag. “Do you want to stop for coffee or anything?”
"Mm… we can if you want, but I'll probably be fine for a while." Joey smiled softly up at Sol.
“Straight to my place it is, then,” Sol replies, meeting Joey’s smile with a fond look.
