Sol sighed, carefully wrapping his arms around Joey once he settled. “You’re right, I know you are. Whatever you wish, estello, I will support you, no matter how much I wish I could always protect you.”
Sol sighed, carefully wrapping his arms around Joey once he settled. “You’re right, I know you are. Whatever you wish, estello, I will support you, no matter how much I wish I could always protect you.”
Joey nodded a bit and huddled closer, resting his head on Sol's shoulder. "Thanks, Sol… hopefully I won't even need protecting." He laughed weakly. "I mean, how often do people really get attacked, right?"
(👀)
Sol hummed, gently stroking Joey’s wing. “Not frequently, if it’s not part of your lifestyle or your not in the wrong area,” he said. “You should be perfectly fine, but I will always worry.”
Joey smiled weakly. "I mean… it's not a great part of town, but I've only been jumped once or twice, so I'm sure it's fine." He shrugged again.
Sol’s eyes narrowed and his arms tightened almost imperceptibly. “You’ve been jumped?” he asked softly, a false calm in his voice. “Do you remember their faces?”
"Only once or twice!" He insisted, as though that made it better. "And no, it was a while ago… before I met you." He smiled sheepishly up at Sol. "It's really not that big a deal."
A soft growl came from the back of Sol’s throat before he could stop it. “It’s a big deal to me. Someone tried to hurt you. Whether or not I knew you yet, it’s not okay, love.”
Joey cowered a bit, drawing his wings up. "I-I'm sorry… I didn't think that it was important enough to bother you with it. It was months ago, anyway."
Slo’s heart gave a pang when he felt Joey curl in on himself. “Oh, estello, I’m sorry, I’m not upset with you,” he murmured. “I just hate the thought of you being hurt, especially in my territory where I should have better control.”
"It's okay… it's not your fault, Sol." Joey fidgeted a bit with his hands, keeping his wings up. "You can't be expected to protect every single person in this general area."
“Stars, logically I know you’re right, but it’s hard to let it settle,” Sol said quietly, burying his nose in Joeys hair. “I feel like I have to keep everyone safe. Especially you, love. I have to keep you safe.”
Joey flushed a bit and toyed with his sleeves, nodding. "Okay, Sol… I'll try my best to keep real safe so you don't have to worry, okay?"
“Okay, yes, thank you, estello,” Sol murmured. “I’m sorry for being so overbearing, tell me if it’s too much.”
"It's alright… I know why you're worried." Joey smiled weakly. "But I'm really okay, I promise."
Sol closed his eyes. “Okay, estello, I’ll let it go,” he murmured. “Thank you for understanding, though.”
Joey nodded and huddled closer, trilling softly. "It's sweet that you care so much, though~…"
Nuzzling Joey softly, Sol smiled. “How could I not, sweetheart? I’m happier with you than I have been in a long time.”
Joey couldn't help but grin, burying his face in Sol's chest. "Y-Yeah… me too…" He replied softly.
Sol purred softly, pressing a kiss to Joey’s head. “I’m glad,” he murmured, smiling.
"Mmm~… when do I have to go home?" He asked softly, honestly not really wanting to go.
“Whenever you’re ready. You need to get a good nights sleep.” Sol answered. “If you’re too tired, you can take the guest room.”
Joey nodded a bit. "I don't have to work tomorrow, so I might stay if it's okay with you…"
Sol smiled softly. “Of course, estello, whatever you want.” Plus if you’re here I know you’re safe
Joey smiled as well, his face lightly flushed. "Thanks, Sol… um… d-do you have any clothes I could borrow?" He asked softly.
“Yes,” Sol nodded, his own cheeks blushing slightly. “You’re welcome to anything, do you remember where they are?”
