“Sometimes,” Sol said with a smile, letting the flame roll between his fingers. “I tend to avoid using magic, but when I do, I generally prefer fire or air.”
“Sometimes,” Sol said with a smile, letting the flame roll between his fingers. “I tend to avoid using magic, but when I do, I generally prefer fire or air.”
Joey nodded a bit, keeping his eyes on the fire. "Ooh! Since you can use fire and water, does that mean you can boil water super fast?"
Sol nodded with a laugh. “I can, yes, but I usually just do it the normal way. I have done it while traveling, though.”
"Cool! Does it drain your energy too?" He took his eyes off of the flame for a moment. "Using the glamour for long periods of time makes me pretty tired."
“Yeah, it does, especially fire,” Sol said, flicking the flame out and smiling at Joey. “But I can essentially store power within myself, which is part of why I use magic infrequently, so I’m strong when I need to.”
Joey nodded a bit, turning his attention fully to Sol now that the flame was gone. "Yeah, I guess that makes sense. When would you normally need it?"
“I used to use my magic in battle, but it’s been a while since that was the case,” Sol explained. “Now I just use it occasionally in self defense or when things get out of hand with other nonhumans”
"Self defense?" Joey asked, looking worried. "Who's trying to hurt you, Sol? Who do I gotta beat up?" He held his fists up in front of his chest, huffing a bit.
“Thank you, sweetheart,” Sol chuckled, nuzzling Joey’s hair affectionately. “But I’m fine, it’s part of the job and it’s nothing I can’t handle.”
"What job has people attacking you as part of it?" He asked, confused and still a bit worried. "Are you a police officer?"
“Ah, well, no…” Sol said hesitantly. “Stars, this… this is not how I planned on telling you…” Rubbing his face with his free hand, Sol sighed. “I’m… I’m in a gang, Joey.”
"A gang?" Joey asked, obviously confused. "What kind of gang? Is it bad?"
“It’s technically a criminal gang,” Sol said, unable to look at Joey. “But we don’t just hurt people or anything like that. We break the law, but it’s a good cause. Stars, I’m sorry, I don’t know how to explain.”
Joey nodded a bit, still not entirely understanding. "What kind of breaking the law? What's the good cause?"
(Bump ^^)
(sorry!! here i am!)
“I suppose you could call it vigilantism,” Sol started. “We protect non humans from each other and humans from non humans. Plus, the system in the city is… lacking, so we take things into our own hands, breaking up trafficking rings and the like. That all being said, we do break… a number of laws.”
(Np ^^)
Joey nodded slowly, trying his best to understand. "So… you're just trying to help people caught up in bad stuff, and sometimes you have to break the law yourself to achieve that?" He asked to clarify.
“Essentially, yes,” Sol nodded, finally looking back at Joey. “But that makes us sound better, really. It’s not always clean, and it can be violent, we are, by all definitions, a gang.”
Joey nodded slowly again, still trying to understand. "Well… that's not all that bad. I-I mean, it would've been nice to know sooner, of course, but I'm not like… mad or anything. I've done things too…"
“I know, I’m sorry, Joey,” Sol apologized, running a hand over his face. “I just never knew how to bring it up. I really like you and was worried it would scare you off. That’s not a good excuse, I know.”
"It's alright… I'm worried about you getting hurt or something, though." Joey pouted a bit as he looked up at Sol. "Are your friends in the gang too?" He asked curiously.
“They are,” Sol nodded, a faint smile curling his lips. “And don’t worry about me, I’ve been doing this for a while, I know how to handle myself.”
Joey nodded a bit, still looking pretty worried. "Well, maybe I can meet more of your friends. I'd feel better if I knew I could trust them… do you trust them?" He asked. "You know… to have your back and stuff."
Sol hummed in thought, “I trust the ones I work most closely with, like Akali and Nikora. My sister and her mate are also in the gang and I trust them both. She’s been wanting to meet you.”
