Joey whined, his face very red by now. "Harsh. And stubborn, too. How am I supposed to change your mind on anything?"

“I will concede on other points, but not on this, sweetheart,” Sol replied with a soft laugh, nuzzling Joey. “You’ll have to forgive me, estello.”

"Mmmmmm…" Joey huddled closer, still whining and huffing. "So mean to me. How come I'm prettier?"

“Oh that’s easy,” Sol answered. “You have the loveliest eyes, so clear and blue, and I like your fluffy hair, it’s so soft. Oh and your wings are so beautiful. Plus,” he smiled softly. “you’re just a sweet person, which complements everything else.”

Joey flushed deeper and redder as Sol complimented him, hiding himself with his wings. "Noooooo… y… y-you're prettier…" He stammered, obviously flustered.

Sol hummed, smiling fondly at the blushing angel in his arms. “Why are you hiding, lovely? I’m only telling the truth. Look at me, sweetheart, I want to see your pretty face”

Joey looked up at Sol meekly when asked, still very red. "It's embarrassing… people don't… don't normally compliment me much…"

“Well they should,” Sol said, tenderly cupping Joey’s blushing face. “You’re lovely and sweet and should be reminded of that.”

Joey closed his eyes and whined softly again, trying to hide his face but unable to with Sol holding him. "Noooo…"

After pressing a light kiss to Joey’s forehead, Sol wrapped his arm back around Joey’s waist. “I’ll let it go, sweetheart, but that doesn’t make it less true,” he murmured.

"Mmmmm… yeah…" Joey relaxed a bit in Sol's arms, yawning and humming contentedly. "Why did you choose me…?" He asked softly.

“As cheesy as it sounds, I felt drawn to you,” Sol replied, adjusting his arms to better cradle Joey. “The sweet angel at the bookshop. I asked you to the club on an impulse, and then did not want to leave your side. Getting to meet you and spend time with you has been an unexpected blessing.”

Joey flushed again and hid his face in his hands, obviously flustered. "I-I'm really nothing special, Sol… honestly. I'm the lucky one. I never deserved it expected someone like you to pop up and decide you want to take care of me."

“I’ll work to change your mind on that,” Sol murmured with a gentle smile, rocking slightly. “You are special to me, and you absolutely deserve someone who cares for and about you.”

"What for?" Joey asked softly. "What did I ever do to deserve somebody like you?" He huddled closer, put more at ease by Sol's gentle hold on him.

“Maybe you don’t have to do anything, maybe we all deserve someone to care for us,” Sol answered. “If anything, I should be asking what I did to deserve you, estello.”

"What you did to deserve me?" Joey seemed almost surprised. "I-I really haven't done all that much, Sol. I'm… nothing. You don't have to earn nothing."

“On the contrary, you have been such a light the last few days. It’s been a long time since I have been so comfortable with someone outside my family,” Sol said. “I have a long history, and I never saw you coming.”

"I-I… ah… um…" Joey stammered, taken aback and not sure what to say. "W-Well, I… I honestly haven't really done anything. You're the one who's been doing all the work, Sol."

Sol smiled a bit sadly, wishing Joey would see how wonderful he was. “You don’t have to do anything, estello, just being around you has been a blessing,” he said softly. “I promise you I do not say such things lightly, so please believe me.”

"R-Right, sorry, um…" Joey bit his lip, his eyes shining a bit. "I… I-I'm just not used to people… saying such nice things to me…" He rubbed at his eyes with one small fist, starting to tremble. "Sorry, sorry… I swear I'm not sad."

“It’s okay, sweetheart, I understand,” Sol murmured, gently cupping Joey’s face and wiping away a stray tear. He kissed Joey’s cheeks softly. “You deserve happiness, I am glad to have even a small part in that.”

Joey nodded weakly and wrapped his arms around Sol's neck, burying his face in the other's shoulder. "I'm sorry I've been crying so much since we met…" He laughed weakly. "I'm probably too old to be acting like a little kid…"

“You’re never to old to have and express emotions,” Sol comforted, arms wrapping around Joeys small waist and holding him close. “It is only society that has created the perception that it is poor behavior. Please don’t ever feel like you have to hide your tears, especially with me.”

"If you say so…" Joey sighed shakily and offered Sol a weak smile, rubbing at his tears a bit. "I've always been pretty emotional… it's looked down upon amongst angels, though."
