“I got a bunch of star charts, and memorized the rotations,” Sol answered sheepishly. Only his sister really knew about his star obsession. “Before GPS and such, the stars were the best way to get around, so I made a point to learn them all. And I’ve had a long time to do it.”
"Ooh, that's super cool! My sense of direction is terrible." He laughed softly and looked back up at the sky. "I can't get around anywhere very well without a GPS. I used to get lost all the time."
Sol laughed, still looking fondly at Joey. “Well, estello, allow me to show you the stars, then,” he said, looking up and pointing at a particularly bright star. “There’s Polaris, the North Star.”
"Ooh, pretty~" Joey crooned, turning his eyes to the star. "How many star names do you know?" He asked curiously. "I only really know, like… the sun."
“Quite a few; there’s Sirius, Vega, and Arcturus, to name a few” Sol listed. “Oh, and the sun’s proper name is, ah, Solaris. That’s where my mother got my name.”
"Oh, really? That's so cool!" Joey grinned up at Sol, fluttering his wings a bit. "I don't think I was named after anything in particular. Just random angel names. What did you say your sister's name was?"
“Her name’s Krystal,” Sol answered with a fond smile, fluttering his own wings so they brushed Joey’s. “Not star related, but still nature. And I like your name, Joiexiel. It’s lovely to say.”
Joey nodded a bit and flushed at the compliment, smiling softly. "Well, I'm glad you like it… no one really calls me Joiexiel, though. It's not a very normal name down here, so I just go by Joey."
Sol tilted his head to look at Joey. “What do you want to be called?” he asked. “I’d like to call you by the name you prefer.”
"Whichever you like is fine." Joey flushed a bit and ran his fingers through his hair. "No one's called me Joiexiel in ages, s-so if you want that to be like… a special thing… you know…"
“If that is what you wish, Joiexiel,” Sol replied, affectionately nudging Joey’s temple with his nose and sighing contentedly.
Joey flushed harder and buried his face in Sol's shoulder, nodding a bit. "Anything is fine with me, Sol…" He said softly.
“You’re too cute for your own good, you know that?” Sol murmured with a soft smile, wrapping a wing around Joey.
"Stooooop~…" Joey couldn't help but grin, his wings fluttering a bit as he huddled closer. "Am not…"
“Are tooooo,” Sop laughed, nuzzling Joey. “You’re so adorable I can hardly take my eyes off you, estello.”
"Noooooo~…" Joey drew his wings up a bit to hide himself, trilling softly. "You're so mean to me. I'm big and strong and intimidating, obviously."
“Mmhmm, sure, sweetheart,” Sol chuckled as he brushed their wings together. “As intimidating as a bunny. A scary, cuddly bunny.”
Joey whined again, shivering when his wings were touched. "Bunnies can be very violent, you know. They've got big, scary teeth."
“They do have sharp claws,” Sol conceded. “And are very protective of their young. But you’re still adorable, even if you’re a fighter.”
"Mmmmm…" Joey nuzzled against Sol, sighing softly. "Yeah, yeah… you're prettier than me, though."
“I don’t think I’ve ever been described as pretty,” Sol huffed a laugh. “And regardless, you’re prettier, you can’t change my mind, sweetheart.”
"Nooooo…" Joey huffed a bit, holding tighter to Sol as he shifted into his lap. "You're wrong."
“Nope, I am absolutely correct,” Sol insisted with a smile, looping his arms around Joey. “You are absolutely adorable, by far the prettiest, and I won’t agree with anything else.”
Joey shook his head adamantly, burying his face in Sol's chest. "Noooooo… I want you to know that you're prettier…"
Sol shook his head and hugged Joey to him, pressing a kiss to his hair. “Joiexiel, estello, I will not surrender my stance. You are the prettiest by far.”
