"well I'll have you know, I've escaped near death situations plenty of times, thank you very much." he says proudly, obviously trying to act cocky to push down the butterflies in his stomach.
He stopped and turned to her, both of his arms wrapped around her as he looked down into her eyes.
"I have no idea to be honest. I wanted to protect you. I figured the only way to do that was to push you away. But at the same time, I honestly want to kiss you, and I don't know what to do. Nor do I know what I'm doing right now." he says with a shrug, keeping his arms around her loosely. Their bodies touching eachother but he could still look down at her easily.
(Oof, if he could sleep, he wouldn't tonight XD)
She looked up at him, holding his gaze. “You and Chire are one in the same, you know that right? Always going on about protecting me.” She shook her head slightly “I can take care of myself without another male’s help.”
She slowly reached up and cupped his cheek, tracing his lower lip with her thumb. “I don’t know either, but I don’t want it to end.” She whispered softly, only for him to hear. Val smirked mischievously and reached up on her toes to be a little closer to Min. “If you really do want to kiss me,” she leaned in close, their lips only hair’s apart “you’ll have to find me at the dance.”
(I have so many guy friends, I have proven this to be a fact and it's the sweetest thing ever)
"it… It's a guy thing. We can't help it. Once we care for someone there's a sense of protection and responsibilty for that person. To make them happy no matter what" he says with a small nervous laugh. "you can't stop it Nomatter what you say Val. It's just a thing" he shrugged.
He listened to her more as she talked, electricity shocking down his spine when she touched his lip. He leaned into her cupped hand a little bit before she did so.
His heart was going to fast for him to breath right but he managed, and he was sure his hands were shaky. He could just leaned in right now, just a little bit and kiss her. But he didn't. Instead he brought his hands up and cupped her face on either sides, kissing her forehead sweetly. "guess I will then" he says with a small laugh
(Aw! XD)
She leaned into his touch, her eyes fluttering shut at the warmth his kiss delivered to the rest of her body. She looked up after a few moments of blissful delight "I won't make it so obvious you know, you'll be searching for a while, Eddy." She smiled teasingly, brushing aside hair that had fallen to his eyes, her fingertips brushing lightly against the scar close to his eye as well as brushing along his jaw and lip piercing, seemingly not able to stop touching him.
"Have you called your friend and sister?" she asked softly, knowing she probably broke the moment between them but she also knew if they continued, she'd kiss him before the dance.
He was so lost in the moment, he felt as if he were floating in an endless void of calm water. Butterflies erupted from his chest and swirling around his head as her movements made him crazy.
He was purely, and totally captivated and he wasn't going to break this moment. So….
She did. And it hit him in the face hard. Like… HARD
"oh…." he says quietly, trying to figure out if all of that before was real. His hands quickly fell from either sides of her face and back into his pockets. He wanted to hide in his closet forever, thinking about his whole life. And death. Whatever he was.
"n-no" he mumbled, looking away a small bit like an embarrassed teenage boy. He was confused. So Confused. Did that actually happen or was he just imagining it and he snapped back into reality. If so… Then what does that mean? Is he subconsciously in love with her?
(Ah I know Min I'm sorry! it hit me hard too!!!)
She looked away, hating herself for ruining the moment. Did he think that she didn't want him close? Did she even know? he was a vampire, the same species of imortal that had murdered her beautiful mother in cold blood. But he wasn't the same person. Min was different. was he? he did just kill a man in cold blood. But he had a reason, the other vampire had killed her mother for no reason other reason than to just kill. Ancestors above was her mind spinning.
She let her hand fall away from his face as his dropped to his side, already missing his touch and closeness. She pulled the hoodie over her head in hopes of gaining back the feeling but ultimately failing, nothing would replace the feeling of his hands against her skin. She took his hand and pulled him into a walk again, her grip loose in case he wanted to pull away. "I'm sure they're alright, Chire said that they never came out of the house even after the fight was over." she said softly, hoping to reassure him
He was a bit dizzy, not really paying attention to her words. Overthinking far too much than he should be at the moment. It's what he did best? That's how he was depressed in the first place. Ultimately…overthinking and going down such a pessimistic road to lead him to think nobody loved him. And he damn well believed it with all of his soul.
But he didn't know what to say to her. Did she change the subject because she was uncomfortable? She wasn't tricking him into falling for her right? Was she like a siren werewolf? No, that's not a thing. Actually, it could very well be a thing. But she was definitely not. Right?
He shook his mind of his ridiculous thought when she grabbed his hand and they started to walk once again. He held her hand tightly, not caring right now whether she hated him at the moment or not.
"okay.." he whispered, not meaning to. But if he didn't, his voice would crack.
She gave him a side glance and frowned softly "Are you alright?" she asked just as softly. Why did you have to open your mouth and ruin it? She took a deep sigh and glanced around, hoping to find something, anything to lift their spirits. She looked down an alleyway and grinned when she saw a fire escape ladder that had been pulled down.
"come on, I have an idea." she gently pulled her hand away and crouched down to get her phone from her bag before taking his hand again and lacing their fingers together, pulling him to the ladder.
She put on a song from her collection, something in a different, older sounding language but it still held an air of power and beauty. she turned up the volume so they could both here without headphones and put the phone in the hoodie pocket.
(Kalandra - Virelighetens Etterklang)
He was a bit confused as to why she let go before he already answered. He was going to tell her what was on his mind. But when she got out her phone and turned on the music, he looked even more confused than hennas before.
She was confusing, but so was he so it was fine.
He stood there still a bit Confused, but he still listened to the music without complaint. It was sweet sounding, so that was a plus. But all his mind could think about was her. Not the surroundings, nor the lain he was in from the multiple cuts and stab wounds. Not the song as much as her voice, how he could fall asleep on her any moment. The only pain he felt at the moment was how much it hurt him that she probably didn't feel the same way. They were enemies anyway. Naturally enemies. Love didn't seem like an option in this situation and that hurt him so badly he just wanted to punch something. But at the same time… He always wants to punch something whether he's in a good mood or not.
"so um….i mean… Sorry" was all he could get out
"Sorry for what? I'm the one who should be apologizing." she asked, letting go again and climbing up the ladder, waving to him when she reached the first landing. She shifted and padded across the landings, climbing up the winding stairs until she reached the roof top, Mins Jacket still on her upper body. She padded in a circle before sitting down and shifting back to human, her head tilting up towards the moon as she waited for Min to join her. She started humming to the song, a few words she knew how to say were mumbled in between, especially during the chorus
A small butterfly flew around in his chest when he watched her. Looking up at the stars and the moon on top of the roof.
Not hesitating to follow her up, he sat down beside her and laid down a bit, leaning on his elbows as they held him up. He tilted his up, letting his soft hair fall out of his face revealing all of his face, his forehead, the beauty mark below his eyes and the freckles dotting his forehead. Which was surprising compared to his blemishless porcelain doll face.
Closing his eyes and letting his eyelashes ticked his skin as he let the dress night air fill his cold lungs.
He was in love. And just then was the moment he realized it. And just then was the moment he realized something else.
There was no going back. But he was fine with that. He didn't want to go back. He was actually happy for the first time in so long. And it was because of her.
Val pulled her legs up to her chest and rested her head on her knees, watching him with a soft smile. She was glad to see that he wasn’t flawless, both in physical appearance and within his own personality and experiences.
She reached over again, hoping to regain the moment they had had a few moments ago before she ruined it with her question. Would he pull away? Did he hate her now? Maybe he wouldn’t give her a second chance. She shook the thoughts away and started at his brow, tracing the dips and contours of the are before moving down to his cheek. She stopped close to his eyes, and lightly trailed her thumb along the eyelashes, surprised at how soft they were. Moving on to the lower half of his face, she traced his lips again along with the piercing a few times, lingering there longer than any other place.
He was surprised to say the least when she moved closer, but even more shocked when she touched his face. But oh he loved it so.
Her hand on his face sent tingles down his spine. Butterflies just erupted in his stomach and flooded to his chest, drowning his heart and pulling it under the lovely heat wave. He looked at her with his big mirror like eyes, reflecting the stars and the blanket above them as she felt his lips. He was obviously enjoying every second of this. His ragged yet calm breath that gently blew against her thumb as it traced over his cold lips, just looking up at her gorgeously perfect face without a care in the world. Slowly he sat up more to her level, letting her keep her touch on his lips. Min brought his own hand to cup her face, rubbing his thumb along her cheek back and forth. "I wanna kiss you so fucking bad" he whispered. He's never sounded more genuine and sure of something in his life. So desperate for her lips on his. But he wasn't going to. He was going to wait. He didn't know till when, but he'd wait. (cough the cough dance cough)
(XD Subtle way of asking for a time skip, I like it XD)
Val let out a soft whine in relief and nudged into Min's hand, pressing her free hand to his as she placed a kiss to his palm, her lips brushing against his skin with a small smile "There. that's all you get until the dance, that is if you find me." She flicked her gaze up to his, her warm amber eyes filled with a silvery tinge from the moonlight. Her hand that was tracing his lip had moving from his lips and was now skimming his jawline. Val snapped her head towards the forest line as she heard a low howl ring throughout the air. She took a deep breath and shook her head "Zizi's getting impatient, I have to go." Squeezed his hand gently, desperately not wanting to leave. "I'll see you in class and at the dance." She leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to his cheek before standing. "see you then," she pulled off his jacket and handed it back to Min with a smile. She took her phone and put it in her bag before taking a few steps back, facing the next rooftop and breaking into a sprint. She stepped up onto the edge and jumped to the next roof, shifting to her wolf form in mid-air and skidding to a stop on the next roof. She bowed her head to Min before head over to the forest line, jumping rooftop to rooftop until eventually she disappeared down a fire escape.
(skippity skip)
Val smiled softly at herself in the mirror as she touched up the black liner around her eyes, putting little make-up on except for that since it was going to be concealed by the mask by her desk for most of the night. She turned when she saw movement in the mirror and smiled up at Chire.
He smiled back softly "you look like mom." he commented, taking her hand and spinning her, causing the white dress to frill out. "It was her favorite dress to wear. Dad got it for her on their 10th anniversary."
Val smiled softly, a small pang in her heart at the reminder of their late parents. "I remember, mom looked so beautiful in it. She always loved the look of vintage dresses. Papa looked like he was going to cry when she saw her in it that first time." She hugged Chire and buried her face in his chest.
Chire hugged her back "careful, you'll smudge the make-up."
"I can always redo it, it's fine." she replied with a small laugh.
They pulled away from the embrace and Chire helped Valerie finish. He took the mask and brushed off some glitter that had fallen on it. He settled it on her face, having her hold it in place as he tied the lace ribbons securely to the back of her head. He came back to inspect the positioning and nodded "perfect. A wolf in sheep's clothing. Thought you didn't want to go obvious?" Val had told Chire about Min and their relationship, how she didn't really know how to feel at the moment since she was a wolf and he a vampire but he had reassured her that as long as he would love and protect her, he was going to try to support their love as much as he could.
"I'm hoping it'll be so obvious that he'll just look right past me, though that'll be hard if I have to perform." she laughed and shook her head. She had gotten an email from Emily that all advanced choir students were to perform a song or to for the dance, something about the aesthetic of live music. She was fine with performing though it would ruin the little game her and Min had planned out.
"ready to go? Chire asked, breaking her train of thought.
Val nodded and grabbed her jacket fro her bed, following her brother out and running through the woods to the treeline where he hugged her once more, told her he'd kill Min if he touched her in a way she didn't like, and that she looked beautiful before letting her go
(oh my goodness, I actually didnt mean to at all. I'm still down though! XD)
Min-Hyuk took a deep breath in as his little sister and Ryuu tried their best to make him look nice. Ryuu fixed his hair, making it a bit straighter than usual and swiping it up with gel. Seo Hyeon readjusted the red bow on his suit. Black and white of course. Making the red stand out quite a bit.
"a-are you sure I look alright? Wait, why are you tightening there? I'm not a girl! Oh man, actually that looks alright. Wait, why does that look good? No, you're not putting that on my face"
He talked throughout the whole time getting ready while they helped him. As they were already ready for the dance. But he never knew how to look very nice. He always had the messy rugged "fuck off" look about him. Not this.
This was high-class gentleman look who's a bit nervous and quite talkative. Why was he talkative? It was a thing he did a ton when he was extra nervous. He just hoped he didn't have a schizophrenic break down. Hopefully not.
Seo Hyeon had him sit down on his chair while she did his makeup. Which wasn't much at all and it didn't even seem like he had any on.
Turning to look in the mirror, his eyes widened. "wait, I look like one of those Korean guys" he exclaimed
"you are a Korean guy. You look like a member of. BTS. Junkook to be exact" she says with a nod and a smile. She turned to Ryuu with a smile of Accomplishment.
"can you make me that pretty!?" Ryuu asked before looking back at his tiny girlfriend.
"oh, you're perfect though" she purred, hooking her finger at his collar and pulling him down to kiss him softly on the lips. In which his face turned beat red. As it usually did. Min-Hyuk didn't bother stopping it. He was too worried about Val. What was she going to think? He definitely looked like one of his sisters posters, that's for sure.
After about an hour more, they all made there way to the school in a limousine, Ryuu owned it. He definitely looked rich and he made Min-Hyuk look rich too. Which he wasn't too happy about but whatever. With his black mask on, he looked down at his silver ring, the blue jem in the center of it, twisting it around his shaky hands before they parked and stepped out.
( nah it’s ok!)
Val has been hanging around friends, laughing dancing with them, enjoying her time with them, that is, until Emily and her friends came by, her chest and legs predominantly showing for everyone to see. “Val? Val is that you?! My don’t you look…cute…anyhow. It’s your turn to go up on stage.”
Val tilted her head, ignoring the bite in Emily's voice. “Really? I thought you were first?”
Emily shook her head and looped her arm with Val’s pulling her to the stage and away from her friends. “Nope, they wanted you first. Go.” She nudged her to the stage.
Emily went back to her little group and trailed wherever Min walked. Eventually she walked over to him, plastering the prettiest smile on as she approached him. “Is that my beautiful Min-Hyuk?” She gasped dramatically and pressed a hand to her chest “don’t look look handsome!” She looked around, seemingly searching for someone “where’s your date? Did she not show up?” Emily pouted and looked around again “you know~ I could be your date. I’d never stand you up.” She gave him a puppy dog glance and hooked onto his arm, pulling him to the dance floor
He was far too busy and distracted on finding Val to notice the girl at first. Looking back to her with a sigh, he spoke in his usual low and calm voice "I'm trying to find my date actually" he says, though he ended up mumbling it. So he was sure over all of the loud noise, this pest didn't hear him.
Disgruntled plenty when she touched him, hooking her arm with him. But he refused to go to the dance floor. Not in front of all of these people. And he didn't even know this chick well. He caught her hair on fire for being annoying. Obviously she didn't get the memo. So he was going to have to send it again.
He stopped in his place, slipping his arm from hers and bringing it to his side, Min-Hyuk let out a sigh. Trying to be calm. This was the first dance he's ever been to and it was a bit stressful. Especially since he was trying to find someone and couldn't to save his life.
"Look, go find another guy to leach off of. I'm trying to find my date" he says coldly, not caring about her feelings at the moment. Nor would he ever. He was never the type to do that of course. He was rude and cold to everyone in the school. It's to be expected and its totally normal behavior for him. That's why everyone thinks Val is so special.
Due to that fact, he was afraid she wouldn't pick the hint up and leave, thinking it's normal behavior for him.
Emily pouted "aw, I hate it when you play hard to get Min. But I love it at the same time!" She glanced back as if someone called her name and bounced off to the dance floor, leaving Min standing "I'll be right back!" she called over her shoulder.
Val had never performed up on stage before, nor had she ever performed in front of so many people. The thought only nauseated her more as she slowly climbed the steps. She felt hands on her arms urging her forwards and she sighed in relief as she peeked over to see her friends.
"Don't worry hon, we got you. No way is that chick gonna pull you away from us and force you onto a stage without us behind you." a male voice said on her right while a female nodded in confirmation on her left. "don't worry Val, we've got you. Now just get to the mic while we kick off the band members." she laughed softly, glad to have her friends support her. She made her way to the mic, giving the boys an apologetic look as they passed her. She looked out into the crowd, scanning it for Min before not being able to find him. She glanced back at her friends as they sat at the drums and set up the bass guitar. They nodded in confirmation that they were ready and started to play softly, for now a low humming that reverberated through the space. Val pitched in by stomping out the beat with her boot, soon being joined in by her friends. Those who hadn't turned to see why the music suddenly stopped now turned in both slight confusion and intrigue.
(Skald - Seven nation army)
As he reached for a girl whom he thought was Val, he heard her voice from the front of the room. He whipped around and stepped near the front, still on the sidelines in the dark. Blending in almost perfectly. He looked up at her and smiled. "A white dress huh. Wolf in sheeps clothing" he chuckled before crossing his arms and leaning on the wall, watching her through the holes in his sleek black mask. Her voice was gorgeous, but he was sure the song didn't do her justice.
She was so beautiful up there too. Her sweet smile and those adorable eyes. And he would love to see Val in more dresses. But he wasn't going to ever voice that. Why?
She would probably think he's a pervert. But skirts and dresses, he thought were really cute. Hopefully she didn't think him as a pervert.
He kept an eye out for that one chick, and tried his best to make sure he had an eye on his sister and Ryuu. But most of his attention was on Val.
So much for having to find her
The small group finished off the song with harmonious howl like sounds, Val sneaking in a true howl into her voice to add to the song as it ended. they all took a step forwards and bowed. They all jumped down from the stage, not bothering to use the stairs and handed back the instruments to the people who were up there before, apologizing for their interruption. Val felt a tap on her shoulder and turned, half expecting Min to be behind her. she tilted her head at the guy in front of her before breaking out into a smile, having taken a second to recognize him through the mask. She recognized Daniel from when the band and the choir kids partnered up to perform or practice together. He leaned in close to talk over the crowd and mentioned to Val that they had had no notice of any of the choir kids coming up to sing. Val found it odd and showed the Daniel the email Emily sent. He shook his head, "I don't think your teacher sent that." Val's brow creased in confusion "why would she send that out then if no one else was supposed to perform?"
Daniel shrugged and strapped on his guitar. "No clue, maybe to embarrass you or get you away from someone. who knows with that girl. Anyways, I gotta get back to the band. That was a great performance by the way, you should come up more with your friends if you ever feel like singing more."
She thanked him for the offer and for letting her know about Emily and wished him good luck, wandering through the crowd to the less densely populated area of the floor where her friends were at.
He pushed himself off of the wall, about to walk up to her with a full blown smile on his face. Which was quick to run away from him when a guy walked up to her and leaned in. From his position and angle he was at, it most definitely looked like he could have kissed her. And with that, his heart came to a stop as he stood there. His cold lips cracked open a bit, breathing out the freezing cloud of air as he always did as if he were outside in the snow. Due to his cold blood and body. Of course his breath would be cold too.
Once the boy leaned away and he saw they were talking normally, a rush of relief surged through his chest.
Once he walked away, Min-Hyuk saw his chance and he didn't hesitate to take it. So walking up to her, he stood in front of her with a small smirk, not minding if his fangs showed or not.
"Found you" he says lifting his mask even though he wasn't supposed to. As it ruined the idea of the masquerade theme.
Revealing the mask, showing his full face along with the makeup his sister had put on him to make him look like a frickin pop star. His eyes reflecting the colors of their surroundings, but mostly the white of her dress as he looked at her.
Val tilted her head slightly and then broke out into a bright smile, recognizing his eyes and the small peek of fang he let show. "That's not fair, I was up on stage for anyone and everyone to see, you probably saw me from a hiding spot." she pulled off her own mask, revealing her own makeup, a stark difference from her white mask, and gave min a look over.
"If I didn't know any better I'd say you're one of the K-Pop singers I keep hearing everyone in choir talk about. I'm surprised you don't just start breaking out into song and dance right now." She laughed and took a step closer, reaching up to brush a gentle hand along his cheek, reaching his mouth and tapping three times against the small piercing, something she did every now and then whenever they were together "this really shouldn't count, I was set up and forced out of my hiding place. You have to admit that it's not fair."
He did admit, the mask was gorgeous and it looked nice, but her face. Oh he loved her face. She was so gorgeous he couldn't even Express that enough. He's thought about it every time he's with her.
He chuckled softly at her comment "yeah, dancing and singings not really my thing. But hey, I can play the piano" he says rolling his eyes.
He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her body into him and leaned into her touch. Letting out a shaky breath as she did. Biting his lip softly once she tapped his black lip ring.
"I know. Guess you'll have to try again" he says with a rather flirtatious smile. A boyish one
He leaned in and kissed her forehead, still holding her at her waist
Val laughed softly, resting her head against his chest and wrapping her arms around his waist. “You really are the spitting image of Edward Cullen, aren’t you?” She shook her head with a smile and nudged her head up into the crook of his neck, breathing in his scent.
“I could try again but I’m too comfortable here to move.” She shut her eyes at the kiss, letting the world around them disappear into white noise. The only prominent sounds were their heartbeat and breathing
