Nikki put an arm around Macy. "You okay?" she asked.
Otis wiped his eyes. "I'm fine. I-i'm just scared that I'll lose…someone again…" he said, slowly getting quieter as he spoke.
Nikki put an arm around Macy. "You okay?" she asked.
Otis wiped his eyes. "I'm fine. I-i'm just scared that I'll lose…someone again…" he said, slowly getting quieter as he spoke.
Macy nodded a little, looking up towards the sky and taking deep breaths.
“D-Do you want to talk about it?” Thomas asked quietly, not wanting to pressure him.
Nikki squeezed Macy a little.
Otis put his head in his hands, one of which was still wrapped around the tree. "I-I don't know…" he said.
(as you can see by my username, I won't be on until next week for…reasons.)
Macy didn’t say anything.
“If you want to..I’ll understand if you don’t want to..”
(Awwww)
Nikki looked over at her. "Are you sure you're OK?"
Otis sighed. "Fine…"
“Y-Yeah..I guess I’m okay…” She said quietly.
Thomas’s arms were growing a little tired but he didn’t say anything.
Nikki sighed, knowing that Macy was hiding something. "Okay. Well, we better keep walking, unless you wanna stay here for a little bit longer, I don't really care, honestly."
Otis grabbed back onto the tree. "I have 9 siblings," he said. "I-I used to have eleven…"
“No it’s fine, we can keep walking.” Macy stood up, not looking at her.
“Oh…I..I’m so sorry Otis…” Thomas said quietly.
"Okay…if you're sure…oh-watch out, thorns ahead." Nikki said, leading Macy through them.
"One got cancer. The other one-just a baby, was hit by a car…" Otis said, sniffing away more tears and feeling like a child. "I'm…I'm afraid of losing someone else…"
Macy climbed through some thorns and kept her head down looking at the ground.
“Of course you would be…again, I’m so sorry..”
Nikki noticed Macy not looking ahead. "You're not okay, Macy. What's wrong?"
"It's not your fault." Otis said. He looked up. "I'm going to find help." He stuck his finger into the water, then shaking it off. It was freezing cold.
"I'm just…tired.."
"You can't swim in that Otis you'll freeze." Thomas said.
Otis put on his Cubs baseball cap, which he had taken off because it was hot outside. “I’ve been through a lot. I can handle this.” he said seriously, determined to do something. “It’s shallow enough. I can walk. Are you okay here by yourself, or do you want to come? I can probably pull the boat.” That was more words than he had used the entire day, or week for that matter. He was set on finding help.
“Macy, if there’s something more to this, it’s okay if you tell me. I won’t force you. And, we can sit down soon. There’s a fallen log ahead.” Nikki said, genuinely concerned for Macy.
“Uh..no it’s fine I can stay here. Be careful Otis..”
“No. Let’s keep walking. We should get back to camp.” She said, walking past the log.
“Uh..no it’s fine I can stay here. Be careful Otis..”
“No. Let’s keep walking. We should get back to camp.” She said, walking past the log.
“Okay, if you’re sure, Mace.” Nikki said. “Take off your life jacket and hold the back in front of you so that you don’t get scratched.”
Otis thought for a minute. “C-can you come?” he asked, regretting asking for a decision.
Macy did as she said and continued walking.
“Of course.” Thomas smiled a little and helped Otis.
Nikki continued walking. She quietly sang “A Million Dreams” as she told Macy where to go.
Otis stuck his feet in the water, keeping his sneakers on. It was co-o-o-old. He began to slide in, until he was up to his waist. He grabbed the edge of the boat and began to pull it along, using the branches to help himself balance. “Can you try to paddle?” he asked.
Macy followed Nikki’s instructions.
Thomas shook his head and climbed out of the canoe. “I can help.” He said, pushing the boat towards shore.
Nikki sighed. "Macy, don't panic…but I think we're lost."
"Th-thanks. Well, we're at the shore. Still don't know how to get back to camp." Otis said as the current was slowly pulling him down the river, and even beginning to pull him under.
“Y-Yeah I figured…”
Thomas grabbed his arm, one hand still on the canoe. “Get onto land.” He said.
Nikki sat down on a rock, and patted one for Macy to sit on. “I-I don’t know what to do…”
Otis sat on the shore, his feet still in the water. He took some pills in a bottle out of his pocket, popped one in his mouth, and closed the lid, putting the bottle back into his pocket. “I hate these stupid things…” he whispered under his breath. “Let’s go.” Otis said. “We’re wasting time.” He hopped up and continued to walk.
(this is so epic)
(best RP ever)
(Yiiiiissss)
Macy sighed and sat down next to her. “My dad. My dad is a marine…and he left for one of his…jobs and..” She took a deep breath. “He hasn’t come back yet..haven’t heard from him..my mom said I should come here..it would take my mind off things..”
Thomas walked behind him, frowning a little.
Nikki hugged Macy. "I-I'm so sorry…" she said. "Is there anything that-that I can do?"
Otis was silent, facing forward. He had everything to think about. Disease, death, illness, and everything that was happening, not to mention how cold he was. He thought that coming to camp would take his mind off of the hundreds of things going on in his life. It didn't. He wiped his tearless eyes as he walked on with determination.
