Aidan surprisingly didn’t even question it, just stuck out his own pinky in return and shook Lachy’s. “Pinky promise.” He smiled over at him. “So…are we all good now?” He asked cautiously.
Aidan surprisingly didn’t even question it, just stuck out his own pinky in return and shook Lachy’s. “Pinky promise.” He smiled over at him. “So…are we all good now?” He asked cautiously.
Lachy smiled softly up at Aidan as he nodded, placing his hand back by his side once the promise was sealed, "Yeah, I suppose we're good now."
“Okay good because I’m bored as hell and I want to actually be able to talk to you without thinking you’re going to wack me or something.” He said with a smile, leaning over to ruffle Lachy’s hair.
He suppressed a giggle, batting Aidan's hand away, "You never know, if you piss me off enough I might still wack you," He sent him a wink, "I'd be careful if I were you."
Aidan grinned happily over at him. “I’ll make sure to be extra careful then. After all…” his grin widened to where you just knew he was gonna say something stupid, “I wouldn’t want to get sacked by a midget.”
Lachy choked on the breath he was taking, trying very, very hard to keep in his laughter, “I am not a midget! You’re just freakishly talk you giant!”
Aidan had to physically bite his lip so he wouldn’t laugh, his shoulders shaking from the effort. But he was very quickly losing the battle and began laughing uncontrollably, covering his mouth to at least muffle it a bit.
Lachy looked away, letting out a giggle, then another and then suddenly he was erupting in laughter. Real, genuine laughter for probably the first time in well… forever.
It made Aidan so happy to hear it, and something in his chest felt a whole lot lighter. His laughter faded and he simply smiled over at Lachy.
Lachy kept laughing for a little longer, then it slowly turned into quiet giggles. He looked over at Aidan, blushing when he saw the other looking at him, “Wh-What?”
“Nothing. Just never heard you laugh before.” He shrugged, quickly making himself look away.
He went a little redder, shrugged a shoulder, “I um, don’t laugh that often.” He admitted softly, “Never had a reason too.”
“That makes sense.” He replied, not pushing for answers from Lachy. He didn’t want to bring attention to his own less than ideal backstory.
Lachy was very glad Aidan didn’t ask why. He didn’t know if he could talk about that right now. Instead he just nodded, continuing on their path.
“So what should we talk about, midget?” He asked after a few minutes of silence.
He rolled his eyes, elbowing Aidan in the stomach, "Well.. after all this blows over, what are you gonna do with your life?"
Now that had been a question he wasn’t expecting. He frowned, his mind mulling it over. “I don’t know…” he’d never given it much thought, even back when he was in school and everyone expected him to know.
He looked over, raising a brow, "Really? You have no clue?" It was strange to hear, maybe because Lachy had out so much thought into it. Well, kind of, mainly just what he was going to do before he had to go home..
He shrugged, staring down at his feet. “I mean even before I was sent to the Facility, I never planned on doing anything worthwhile with my life. Just not that type of person I guess.” This was mainly because of how dependent he was on his mom. He always thought he’d need to be there for her so he’d never invested in his own future.
"Oh," Lachy bit his lip, "Well, there's nothing wrong with that, I've met loads of people who were the same." He'd been like that, too, mainly because he hadn't thought he'd live that long. But once he was sent to the Facility his thoughts had wavered.
“How about you? Any big plans for what you want to do?” He asked, forcing him to stop staring at his own feet and looking up at Lachy. He wondered what Lachy’s answer would be because frankly he had no clue.
"Ice-cream," He said, "I'm going to go to the beach and eat ice-cream." It sounded dumb now he said it out loud, but having not done that before? It sounded like a dream.
“That sounds…pretty nice actually.” Yet again, not what he was expecting, but the answer was interesting to say the least. He knew that it was the small dreams like that that kept most people at the Facility going.
"Yeah," Lachy sighed softly, "Have you ever been to the beach?" He asked, tilting his head up at Aidan. It sounded insane, most people generally had been so it was a stupid question, really.
He thought about it. “I think so…maybe only one time though. We never traveled a lot.” He’d also most definitely almost drowned but Lachy didn’t need to know that so he didn’t tell him.
