A part of Lachy wished he had that control over his own powers. That he was able to summon his own and not feel like fainting a minute later. He kept his eyes on the flame, a sense of admiration flickering in his eyes.
A part of Lachy wished he had that control over his own powers. That he was able to summon his own and not feel like fainting a minute later. He kept his eyes on the flame, a sense of admiration flickering in his eyes.
“Feeling any better?” He asked quietly a few minutes later, the fire in his hand still burning but getting a bit dimmer. He was trying not to show how it was slowly draining him, the overwhelming urge to sleep slowly creeping in.
"Yeah, thanks," He flicked his gaze back to Aidan's face, noting the exhaustion starting to show, "You can stop the flame.. I'll be okay now."
He nodded, the flame slowly dying in his palm, it still sparked for a few more seconds before the light died completely. He stayed silent, not knowing quite what to say.
"You should sleep…" He mumbled, resting his head back against the stone, "You look tired."
He shook his head. “I’ve gotten enough. You need it more than I do right now.” He said stubbornly.
"No, I don't. I'm fine, Aidan, you need the rest after that." And quite frankly he didn't think he could sleep.
“Nope. Not gonna do it you can’t make me.” He replied, stubborn as ever, and more than a little childish.
Lachy frowned, though his bottom lip stuck out into a pout, "Please? I'll sleep after you… even if it's just for half an hour."
“No. You sleep first. I would feel too guilty to sleep first anyway.” He didn’t seem like he planned on changing his mind any time soon.
A moment later Lachy sighed, knowing he wasn't going to get anywhere with Aidan right now, "Fine." He whispered, lying back down.
He sighed, moving closer to him, you know..just for the sake of keeping them both warm and everything. Aidan didn’t even say anything as he did so, just a silent sign that he would be there for him.
Lachy was glad of the comfort, however small it may have been. He needed it. Mainly because he still wasn't okay but Aidan didn't need to know that right now. He closed his eyes, hoping this time to sleep longer with no interruptions.
Aidan gently ruffled Lachy’s hair before going back on alert, scanning the area for any threats. He hoped that he’d actually helped Lachy through that, even just a little.
Luckily Lachy slept peacefully for the next couple hours. He didn’t have any more hiccups which was good. He needed the sleep, having been exhausted from the day of travel and the nightmare.
Aidan was glad to see it. The entire rest of the night, he kept subconsciously expecting Lachy to wake up in a panic again. He almost felt proud of Lachy when he managed to stay asleep.
He woke again a couple hours before dawn, blinking his eyes open before curling in on himself again due to the sudden wind. Lachy hoped they made it to the camp today.
“Morning” He grumbled out, noticing when Lachy woke up. “Seemed like you slept a whole lot better.” He remarked, still looking out into the forest instead of making eye contact.
“I guess..” He replied, staying curled up on the floor. Aidan sounded mad, but he didn’t know if that was just him being paranoid from past experiences or not, “There’s still a few hours of dark left, you should sleep again.”
“If that’s okay with you, then some more sleep would be great.” He turned, smiling down at Lachy. He was pretty tired, he’d just been doing his best to not think of it all night, distracting himself with the things around them.
Lachy pushed himself up onto his arms, nodding as he did so, "Yeah, go ahead. You probably need it more then I do."
Aidan nodded, laying down at Lachy’s side. He thought he wasn’t that tired but it seemed like as soon as he lay down, he was asleep.
Lachy sighed, staying close to Aidan as he looked out into the darkness. It almost seemed to whisper, but he pushed that away. He couldn't afford to be paranoid.
Aidan slept peacefully, undisturbed by any nightmares for the duration that he slept. He woke up on his own around two hours later.
Lachy was wide awake at this point, the sun slowly coming up over the horizon when Aidan woke. He looked over to the other male, cracking a small smile, "Morning sleepyhead."
