And of course that gave Aidan hella pause. He looked back at Lachy quickly, a little bit nervous, before saying, “he…he didn’t make it.”
And of course that gave Aidan hella pause. He looked back at Lachy quickly, a little bit nervous, before saying, “he…he didn’t make it.”
The man seemed taken a back by the statement, blinking as he raised the gun again, "You didn't kill him, did you? What about your friend? Did he do it, huh?"
He shook his head. “We got ambushed on our way here. There wasn’t anything we could do to save them.”
He lowered his gun, releasing a breath, "What are you names? Why did Gareth send you two, out of everyone rescued, this way?" Lachy could tell he already knew why, but was just making sure they did.
“I’m Aidan, this is Lachy. And we’re the chosen ones of the prophecy.” It still felt weird to say, weird to be so important.
There was a murmuring, however the man took a step forwards, "My name is Mike. Welcome to the resistance." He inclined his head as he turned his back, the group moving into the trees as he gestured for them to follow.
Aidan nodded and began to follow, but he hovered more closely to Lachy, not trusting these people just yet. Automatically he felt much safer at Lachy’s side.
Lachy didn't say anything however he kept close to Aidan. He wanted to hold his hand, but refrained from doing so. Mike led them and the group back through the trees, the path unclear but somehow he knew where he was going. Soon, it opened up into a large area where, at first there look to be nothing, but wit a simple wave of his hand there was a flicker of air and a large camp appeared.
“Oh wow.” Aidan said under his breath, probably only loud enough for Lachy to hear. He was impressed honestly. He didn’t expect them to be this big.
Mike led them in, weaving through small gardens and farms, gravel areas for training, make shift toilets and buildings for sleeping and anything else. In the center was a large building, bigger then the rest. That was where Mike led them, up the stairs and into the room.
Aidan looked around in awe as they walked, hoping it didn’t show too much on his face. However when they got to the big building, he felt himself getting anxious again. He wanted to hold Lachy’s hand to reassure himself, but, he didn’t really want to show how close they were just yet.
The main room was a decoration of different colours and patterns, an old kitchen in one corner and couches all around. Mike gestured for them to sit, heading over to the stove. No one else had followed them in, it was just those three.
Aidan sat down hesitantly, his eyes instinctively scanning the room just to make sure this wasn’t a trap or anything.
"I take it the people who ambushed you are dead?" Mike said, finally breaking the silence between them. He lit the has stove, heating up some water.
“Yes, and even if they managed to survive at first, none of them will be able to survive those wounds for long even with treatment.” He couldn’t find it in him to make eye contact with Mike right now, so instead he stared at his feet.
Mike hummed and nodded, pouring the water into an old mug with a tea bag inside. He walked over to the two boys, sitting across from them, "Which one of you is going to save us, then? Which is the strongest?"
“I am.” He replied. It still felt weird to say, and he could feel the pressure again that he’d been trying to get rid of. He couldn’t fuck this up.
((I’m so sorry I deadass fell back asleep while I was writing))
(All good bro, totally get it aha)
Mike leaned back in his chair, surveying the other over. His expression was unreadable, neither good nor bad impressed or not. He looked to Lachy for a moment before back to Aidan, "Your skill set, fire, correct?"
He nodded. “That’s pretty much it for me.” Aidan didn’t know what to think of this guy. He made Aidan feel a bit uneasy honestly. He hoped it was because he’d just met him, and not for any other reason.
Mike nodded, his features relaxing as he took a sip of his tea, "Mike wouldn't have sent you this way if he didn't believe you two were going to save us," He mumbled, "I know we've just met, however I'm asking you to trust me. Gareth and I.." He trailed off, not wanting to finish the obvious sentence, that the two had been in love, "I trusted him with my life, and if he trusted you two? I do as well."
((Omg my heart nooooo))
He nodded, of course understanding. “We really do appreciate it. We’ve been through quite a lot already, and having someone we can trust is a nice change. We’ll do what we can to be helpful to your cause.”
“I know you will.” Mike offered a smile, standing, “I’ll show you both to your quarters, it’s not too far from here and close to mine.”
He nodded, standing up and waiting for Lachy to do the same before he’d follow Mike outside. He still stuck close to Lachy’s side, but he was less nervous than before.
