Autumn let out an over-dramatic sigh. "Then I suppose we'll need to find those, too…"

Alex gave her a look. “You didn’t need to come at all!”

"But… I want to…" Autumn gave him a genuine-seeming, pathetic look.

Alex rolled his eyes and took the bag of ties. "I know you did, but you didn't have to."

"I am aware. But as your friend, I feel obligated to help you with fashion," Autumn declared with a grin.

Alex chuckled. "You're a good friend to have, then."

"You better believe it," Autumn teased, bumping him with her hip.

Alex bumped her back with his shoulder. "I believe it. Now, let's hail a taxi and get me some shoes."

"All right," Autumn chuckled as they stepped outside. She hailed a taxi and asked to be taken to the nearest shoe store.

Alex opened the taxi door for her, sat inside after her and set the bag snugly down between his legs.
"Shooeees…"

"Again, I can't tell if that was sarcastic or genuine," Autumn stated with a smile.

Alex smiled. "I don't know either, to be honest."

Autumn laughed. "How does that work?"

Alex tilted his head, dog-like. "I have no idea."

Autumn laughed harder at the look. He just looked so confused. And at his own thoughts, too!

Alex grinned. He was extremely confused but he was glad she was having fun.

After a little bit, Autumn calmed down and caught her breath. She wiped under her eyes, erasing any significant tears that may or may not have come through.

Alex grinned a little. “You seemed to find that extremely funny, Autumn. How come?”

"Your face!" Autumn exclaimed, grinning. "You just looked so confused!"

Alex gave her a confused look. "I have no idea what you're talking about!"

Autumn laughed again. "You still look confused. Oh my word…"

Alex shook his head at her. "You're crazy, you know."

"Oh, trust me. I'm very aware," Autumn chuckled.

Alex chuckled too, leaning back in the seat. “So where’s this shoe store?”

"Somewhere around here," Autumn said with a shrug. "I think just a couple of minutes away."
