Danny rolled his shoulders back, grabbing a blanket from the arm of the couch and wrapping it around his shoulders.
Alex stretched slightly, running a hand through his hair.
Danny picked at his chipped nails. "How're you doin? Don't remember if I asked." He scratched the back of his head.
(my man is essentially petting himself. my man danny is just a dog with opposable thumbs)
"I'm fine. Thanks." he replied with a smile.
(lmaooo)
"'Course, man." Danny grinned, drawing the blanket tighter around himself. He looked back at the window, rubbing his eyes and watching the streets outside.
He leaned back on the couch. "So…other than everything goin' on with Fraser, how have you been?"
"Pretty good, I think. I mean- another one of the kids got their shift, which was cool, even though her fucken' teeth are nightmares.." Danny added the last part in a mumble, rolling his eyes slightly. "But also I think one of my neighbors got arrested. So that sucks."
He blinked. "One, the kid shift thing is cool. Two…how and why?" he asked, looking at Danny.
"Very cool. And I dunno, I just heard everythin' secondhand. Guy downstairs said it had to do with weed. Dunno why, I wasn't really listenin'."
"Ah. Yikes" he replied, shaking his head a little bit.
"Yeah, I know." Danny shook his head. "It's tough, man. Nice guy, too. Aanyway, I'm kinda glad it's just me in here right now. Feel bad if any of the kids had to see me like this."
Alex nodded a little bit. "Yeah. Is one of the other adults taking care of them right now, or what?"
"Yeah, they are. Don't worry, we're not just droppin' 'em in the street to fend for themselves. Cherry's housin' 'em for the next few days."
He nodded a little bit. "Yeah, I was a bit worried for my walk home, depending on what you did with them."
Danny laughed. "Yeah, they're vicious little things! Teachin' 'em good."
He laughed a little, nodding. "Mm. Yeah."
"Proud of 'em, though." He gave a lopsided little grin. "They're growin' up too fast, that's what I fucken' hate about kids, man."
He laughed a little, nodding. "Yeah."
"It's crazy, though 'cause I remember them when they couldn't even walk." Danny sighed. "Fucken'… crazy as fuck."
"Well. People grow, that's how the world works." he replied with a little laugh.
"Well- yeah, I know that." Danny rolled his eyes, but he laughed softly. "It's still really weird, though."
Alex laughed, and nodded. "Yeah, I get that."
He scratched the back of his head, going quiet again. All of this talking he was doing was in an attempt to push away any thoughts of his breakup. He'd clearly run out of things to say, though.
Alex looked over at Danny again, taking a deep breath. "So, uhm…" He trailed off.
Danny looked up. "Yeah?" He paused for a beat. "What's up?"
