“Wait, thank me? Uh- it’s no problem, man. I like hugs.” Danny shrugged.
“Wait, thank me? Uh- it’s no problem, man. I like hugs.” Danny shrugged.
"I just…" he sighed softly, running a hand through his hair. "I was gonna ask."
“Oh. Happy coincidence, then.” Danny shrugged, gnawing a strip off his nails. “You don’t gotta ask, though. Just go for it.”
"Yeah. Alright." he replied, looking over at Danny for a moment, then away again. "Thanks, though."
“Sure thing.” He glanced around Alex’s room, taking in their surroundings.
Alex's room was a little messy, and his shirt was lying on the floor where it had obviously been thrown by someone who didn't care where it landed. There was an empty glass, presumably for water, on his nightstand, along with an alarm clock.
Danny’s eye caught the shirt for a moment, then travelled back to his own hands. “..So. Where do we go from here? Do you need anything? Maybe rest?”
Alex shrugged a little bit. "I don't…I don't know. Usually I just…take the day and rest and whatever."
“Alright. You don’t have anything due today for work or whatever, right?” Danny began counting something on his fingers, trying to think of the different things that needed to be done.
He shook his head a little bit. "No. Thankfully." he replied softly. He wished he had water, but he figured he could get some later.
“Alright, so that means that you don’t have to email anyone.. what about food? Water?”
"I…have food in the kitchen. And water." he replied softly. "Besides, I'll…probably take a shower and end up standing there for like 45 minutes." that was what always happened. He got in the shower and everything went numb.
“Those are all my suggestions gone, then. Just tell me if there’s anything you need, yeah?” Danny gave him a tight-lipped smile, feeling more than a little bit uncomfortable in the situation.
Alex nodded a little bit. "Yeah…I'm sorry for bothering you." he said softly. "I…I know this isn't how you wanted to start out your day."
“No, it isn’t.“ Danny agreed, his voice incredibly blunt. “But I think it’s worse for you than me, and I’d rather do this than be in your shoes.” He continued, shrugging.
Alex's eyes flicked to the floor, and he nodded slightly. "Yeah." he breathed softly, running a hand through his dark hair.
“At the end of the day, I don’t care what I do with my time. I do care, though, if my friends are being taken care of or not.”
He closed his eyes for a moment, and nodded. "Thank you." he said softly, swallowing.
“It’s nothing, man.” Danny reassured him, holding up a hand. “Don’t worry about it.”
Alex bit his lower lip a little bit, letting out a slow breath.
Danny’s phone rang, and he jumped slightly. “Fuck, give me a second, I’m sorry. Shouldn’t take me too long, but I gotta take this.”
He nodded a little. "It's alright." he replied softly. "Go ahead." he ran a hand through his hair, and reached into a drawer on his nightstand, pulling out some salve to help with the bruises.
Danny let out a breath. “Yeah- I’ll be right back, sorry again.” He walked out of the room, finally picking up the call.
He nodded a little bit, and dropped his blankets, applying the salve to his bruises.
Danny growled in frustration- something easily audible from the other room. He came back in after a few minutes, sitting back down on Alex’s bed. “Sorry about that.”
