After a few more minutes, Rafael finished everything, and tiredly rested his head on the countertop before remembering he should probably clear his place. He stood up, taking his things over to the sink.
After a few more minutes, Rafael finished everything, and tiredly rested his head on the countertop before remembering he should probably clear his place. He stood up, taking his things over to the sink.
Arien looked up when Rafael stood.
"You don't have to do that," He said. "I can handle it." Still, seeing as Rafael had already set the dishes down, all he did was sigh.
“It’s okay, I can do it. Unless it bothers you, then I can just let you handle it.” He said, looking at the other before doing anything, waiting to see his response.
"If you're sure." Arien hummed softly, finishing his own drink. He stood, setting his cup down next to Rafael's dishes.
"How are you doing?"
He shrugged at the question, beginning to wash his dishes. “As okay as I can be I guess. At least I won’t have to pay rent for awhile. But then again I’ll probably lose my job too so that’s gonna suck, gonna be hard to find another job. If you ever let me go that is. If not then I guess that’s not really a problem either.”
"Well, I might. It all depends on how much you get me to trust you." Arien watched a moment, drying off the dishes when Rafael washed them.
"And if I did, I'm sure you could find work. You've got a lot of skill with that violin of yours."
“Thanks, but it’s pretty much impossible to actually make a living off of just playing violin. If it was, I’d be much better off than I am now.” He replied simply, looking over at Arien.
"That piece you played last night was really complicated, and you played it from memory. Hot could any sane orchestra director not take you on?" Arien tilted his head a bit.
He shrugged. “Dunno, guess I’m just still too young for their standards or something. Plus, I try not to go far from home so I don’t have that many options.” The way he talked about it made it sound like it was just something he’d accepted about his life.
Arien nodded a bit.
"Is a shame, you're better then some I know who perform for top orchestras. They can play the music fine, but they're helped without the sheets." Here sighed, shaking his head a bit.
"You deserve a shot. Still, I understand wanting to stay close to home."
“Yeah that’s just life I guess.” He replied. He’d never really given it his full effort to get into an orchestra. Part of him was afraid that if music became his entire life, he’d end up hating it.
Arien finished drying the dishes, putting them away. He turned to Rafael, leaning against the counter slightly as he looked at the human.
"What do you do now, for a living?"
“Whatever I can, really. Work a few part-time jobs. Enough to be able to pay my bills, though I am trying to find a more permanent job if I can.” There was also the fact that he was partially supporting his family too. He didn’t really have time to go and follow his dreams.
((Welp apparently he has a mildly tragic backstory now…my bad))
(oop, I understand that feeling XD)
Arien listened quietly as Rafael spoke.
"Makes sense," he said. "Perhaps I could help find a job, when you leave." He offered a small smile.
“Thanks…that could be nice.” He replied, briefly smiling back over at him before looking away. “So…what now?”
Arien tilted his head, thinking a moment.
"Well, try to avoid going out during the day. I don't really sleep, but I do need to rest." Arien shrugged slightly.
"And I'm not really sure how much there is to do in my house you'd like to do."
“Hmmm…I might just go back to sleep then.” He replied with a small shrug. “Also can I have my stuff back now or are you afraid I’m going to run off on you?”
"Oh, of course." Arien stepped out of the kitchen area, fetching Rafael's things.
"Here," he said, offering them. "I… sorry about taking them last night."
“It’s fine. I understand.” Considering how polite and gracious the vampire had really been to him, Rafael wasn’t actually that upset anymore. “Am I allowed to contact people?” He asked.
Arien paused at this question.
"Yes," he said slowly. "But I will have to monitor it. I hope you understand."
“Yes I understand. Just wanted to check.” He was just glad to know that he’d be able to answer his phone if he needed to. “If my work calls, I’ll probably just answer and tell them I have the flu or something, is that okay?”
Arien nodded.
"It would make sense." Arien leaned against the counter again.
"I…" He trailed off a moment.
Rafael looked up, waiting to see if the other had anything else to say. “What?” He asked when Arien still hadn’t said anything else after trailing off.
"I am sorry, about how I treated you last night." Arien looked down at his hands, letting out a soft breath. He had been too mean to Rafael, even for the situation he had set up.
