Arien had been awake all night, for obvious reasons, but he hadn't gone back out. He'd already fed, and he'd brought a food source home anyway. He drew the curtains as the sun rose, sighing faintly. Eventually, he made his way to Rafael's room, knocking on the door once without opening it.
"Are you hungry?" he asked.
He got up, opening the door. “Yeah I guess..” he said softly, not completely making eye contact with Arien. His hair was a complete mess, and he tiredly ran a hand through it.
"Here, I'll make you something then." Arien stepped to the side. He had no intention of letting Rafael walk behind him, not trusting him at all. At least he wasn't picking him up though, right?
He sighed softly, understanding what the gesture meant, and went to be at Arien’s side. He waited for the other to start walking, not knowing precisely where he was going.
Arien started walking, keeping Rafael in the corner of his eye. He led the man to the kitchen, a cozy little space with a wrap around counter separating it from the rest of he house. He stepped to the cabinets, motioning for Rafael to have a seat.
"Is there anything in particular you'd like to have?
Arien pulled one of the cabinet doors open, humming faintly as it revealed the very human food inside.
He shook his head, sitting down at the counter. He of course noticed the human food in the cabinet. “So do you frequently kidnap people off the street then?” He asked casually, honestly just kind of curious.
"Actually," Arien started, "I don't just eat blood. I enjoy human food, even if it isn't as filling." Arien turned to Rafael a moment.
"You're the first." Arien, when Rafael didn't say anything he wanted, pulled out some pancake batter.
"Do you want coffee?" Arien motioned to his key keurig.
“Wow thanks, I feel so special.” He said sarcastically. “And coffee would be great…thanks I guess.” He ended up grumbling the last part, looking down at the counter.
Arien let out a soft breath, mixing the pancake batter with water before stepping over to pour Rafael a cup of coffee.
"Creamer?" He asked, setting it down in front of him. "Sugar? Milk?"
“Creamer would be nice.” He replied, briefly looking up at Arien as he spoke before back to looking at the counter.
With a smooth moment, Arien moved to the refrigerator, pulling out a bottle of creamer and setting it down for Rafael. He hummed softly, turning back to the pancake batter to start cooking.
Rafael poured the creamer into his coffee, letting it mix around in the cup before taking a sip of the coffee. He quietly began to watch Arien.
Arien didn't say a word, Rafael's music from the night still stuck in his head. He poured the batter onto the griddle, running his hands through his hair once with a yawn. He couldn't sleep, not like humans, but he could still get tired. He glanced at Rafael, offering a faint smile.
As soon as Arien looked over at him, Rafael looked away, going back to staring at the counter. He began to trace the lines of the patterns he saw, just for something to do.
Arien looked away after a moment. When the pancakes were done, he brought the plate over for Rafael.
"Would you like something to put on them?" He asked. "Butter, syrup, jam?"
He shook his head, continuing to trace the patterns out on the countertop. “Thank you for the offer though.”
Arien nodded a bit.
"Alright then." He sat near Rafael, occasionally glancing at him but mostly ignoring him now. He'd leave the man be for a bit.
Rafael similarly ignored the other, silently eating the food. In his head, he was wondering how long it’d take for someone to notice that he was gone.
Arien was on his phone a moment, seemingly texting someone. In a moment, he stood, getting himself a drink. He hummed slightly again, glancing at Rafael as he made a single serve hot chocolate.
Rafael subtly watched Arien and was surprised by what he’d gotten. Vampires who kidnapped broke musicians off the street didn’t really seem like the hot chocolate type to him.
Arien figured is wouldn't do anything good ti hide his tendancies from Rafael, so he pulled out the whip cream, giving himself a generous amount before finally sitting down with his drink.
“You really are a weird guy aren’t you.” He said, looking over at him. Rafael wasn’t exactly judging him…but then again he kinda was. He was feeling more and more like the universe was pulling a cruel joke on him.
Arien looked over, taking a drink of his hot chocolate. He set the cup down, licking the whipped cream off his lip.
"I am who I am. I'm not going to change what I like if it doesn't fit your preconcieved notions."
He thought that over briefly before merely shrugging. “Fair enough.” He went back to drinking his coffee, having nothing else to comment on at the moment.
Arien looked away, continuing to drink his beverage. He leaned back on the chair, tapping his fingers lightly on the cup. He crossed his legs, watching Rafael from the corner of his eyes.
