The kitten mewled softly and enjoyed the petting for a moment before she crawled up into Rowan's lap. After kneading him for a while, she curled up on him, purring contentedly. Rowan scratched behind her ears, smiling fondly down at her.

"That one," Eve murmured. "That's the one."
"She looks a bit like Maggie did… similar patterning." Rowan murmured softly, still petting the kitten gently with one hand.
"Hmm," Eve hummed and watched his face adoringly.
"She's so small… I forgot how little kittens are." Rowan smiled softly and scratched under the kitten's chin.
A gray and white kitten came up to Eve and mewled adorably. "Hi, bean," she purred, picking the kitten up and setting it in her lap.
Rowan lay down on the ground and the little calico on him shuffled up to lay on his chest, still purring and seeming pretty happy with him.
"We're definitely getting that one," Eve remarked. "And I think this one likes me!" She ran her fingers over the kitten's soft fur and it continuously meowed at her.
"Mm…?" Rowan opened his eyes to look over at the kitten on Eve, smiling softly. He kept one hand on the kitten with him, gently petting her to keep her calm. "Yeah, I think so. Trying to think what I'd want to name her. What do you think about Nollie?" He asked.
"Nollie," Eve repeated thoughtfully. "I like it."
"Kind of an homage to Magnolia, yeah? Just nicknaming a different part of the name." Rowan scratched under Nollie's chin gently with one finger. "Are you going to get that one?" He asked.
Eve nodded. "Yes, I think so. She likes me." The kitten meowed, as if confirming.
"Guess we'll have two, then." Rowan shrugged. "We'll have to get all the stuff… litterbox, food, treats, collars…"
"Of course," Eve murmured, only half listening. She was smiling and more focused on playing with the kitten in her lap.
"You checked to make sure our apartment complex allows animals, right?" Rowan asked, sitting up with the kitten in his arms.
"I did!" Eve replied. "And I texted our landlord to confirm. We can't have more than two, which works out perfectly!"
"Sounds good to me." Rowan gently rubbed Nollie's cheeks, which the kitten seemed to enjoy. "We can be in here for the rest of the hour, but we can tell the attendant that we're planning to adopt."
Eve giggled as she stroked her kitten, and it responded with a satisfied, "Mew."
"Got any name ideas for yours?" Rowan asked as Nollie tucked her head under his chin.
"Mmm," Eve hummed thoughtfully. "I called her 'Bean' when I first picked her up. But her fur looked like sprinkles of pepper."
"Yeah?" Rowan looked over to Eve's kitten curiously. "She seems to like you, anyway."
Eve giggled. "She does." The kitten licked her hand with its small tongue.
Rowan allowed Nollie to nibble on his fingers a bit as he pet her. "I guess we should just relax for the rest of the hour, then."
"Mmm," Eve hummed. She inched closer to him and leaned her head on his shoulder.
Rowan flushed red, but didn't move away. He just tried to keep his attention on the kittens.
