Eve did as well and thanked the girl as she left.
Eve did as well and thanked the girl as she left.
"Mm… uh, what do you want to talk about while we wait?" Rowan asked.
Eve shrugged. "We can talk about whatever you like."
"Uhh… what's your favorite… color?" Rowan asked awkwardly.
Eve grinned and tilted her head to the side. "Gossamer blue. What's yours?"
"Uhhhh… I dunno… blue, purple, red maybe…" Rowan fidgeted with his hands a bit "I dunno… do you have a favorite… uh… element? On the periodic table? I like… um… phosphorus…?"
"Darling, why are you so anxious?" Eve asked softly, noting his indecisiveness and fidgeting.
"Um… just not really sure what to do." Rowan laughed nervously, tugging at his sleeves and looking away.
"Relax," she murmured with a smile. "It's only me."
"That's the problem." Rowan offered a weak smile, his cheeks tinted pink. "Do you have anything you want to talk about? I'm… evidently not very good at leading conversation."
Eve flushed lightly. "Oh… um, no. Not particularly."
"Okay… uh… did you have any pets growing up?" He asked.
Eve's eyes softened. "I did. A dog. His name is Onyx. He's all black and had super curly fur," she gushed.
Rowan nodded with a soft smile. "He sounds nice. I had a cat for a while… little calico cat. Her name was… ah… Magnolia, but I just called her Maggie."
"Aww, that's sweet!" Eve sighed. "I love Onyx. I miss him since leaving home."
"Maggie passed away when I was… a freshman, I think. We had her before I was born, so she was pretty old." Rowan hummed thoughtfully. "I think I'd like to get another cat some time."
"We could get a cat!" Eve enthused. "For the apartment!"
"Ah? You think that's allowed?" Rowan asked. "Do you even like cats?"
Eve nodded. "I love animals! We could smuggle it in!"
"Well, I just don't know if our apartment allows animals or not… it probably does, right?" Rowan hummed thoughtfully.
"I'll check when we get back," she remarked happily.
"Alright… sounds good. I guess we'd have to find somewhere around here that sells cats." Rowan looked up when the waitress returned and thanked her quietly.
Eve thanked her as well and looked between her food and his. "This looks good," she remarked. "Good restaurant choice."
Rowan smiled softly and started to eat. "Glad you approve. Do you know of any pet shops or cat cafes around here?"
"No idea. Look it up," she urged eagerly before taking a bit of her French toast.
