"I'll check after we eat." Rowan hummed softly and ate some more of his pancakes. "We'll have to come back here again sometime."
"I'll check after we eat." Rowan hummed softly and ate some more of his pancakes. "We'll have to come back here again sometime."
"Mhmm!" Eve hummed in agreement. She swallowed her bite. "That was delicious! How are yours?"
"Pretty good." Rowan smiled a bit and soon finished off his pancakes. "Almost ready to go?"
"Almost!" Eve chirped. She still had some remnants on her plate. "Would you like to try some?" she asked, tilting her head playfully.
"Mm? Uh, sure…" Rowan flushed lightly, taking a few seconds to process before he picked up his fork again to try the French toast.
Eve smiled and watched him adoringly. Never had she fallen so fast before in her life.
Rowan had just stuck the fork in his mouth when he noticed Eve watching him, at which point he flushed red, not entirely sure what to do and unable to speak without choking.
Eve quickly looked away. "Sorry," she mumbled. "I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."
Rowan coughed a bit, taking a few seconds to swallow before he spoke. "It's f-fine… just surprised me a bit." He laughed weakly.
Eve turned her wide brown eyes on him. "Why?"
"W-Well… I dunno. I just… wasn't expecting you to be looking at me." Rowan shrugged, still flushed.
Eve tilted her head innocently. "You're very nice to look at."
Rowan flushed harder, his heart racing. "I-I… ah… um… y-you think so?" He stammered awkwardly in reply.
"I do," Eve stated with a sincere tone.
"Uhm… y-you're pretty nice yourself…" Rowan replied, staring down at the table.
"How kind of you to say to the table," Eve remarked, arching her eyebrows.
Rowan looked up at Eve meekly, whining in protest. "Telling you you're pretty to your face is hard…"
Eve rested her chin on her palm and waited.
Rowan was very red by now and was practically cowering with his heart pounding hard in his chest. "Y-You're… you're pretty too…" He said softly after he'd mustered up the courage to do so.
Eve kicked his foot lightly under the table. "Thank you."
"We should… um… probably get going now, y-yeah?" Rowan pulled out his wallet so he could leave some cash on the table to pay for breakfast.
Eve blocked him and handed her card to the waitress as she came back. "Thank you," Eve remarked as the waitress headed back to charge her card. "My treat," she said to Rowan knowingly. "I told you."
Rowan stuck his tongue out a bit and reluctantly put his wallet back into his pocket. "You really don't have to pay for me, Eve… I feel bad."
"I know. But I did. I told you countless times at the apartment that it was my treat," she reminded him.
"I thought that maybe you'd forget?" Rowan shrugged and smiled sheepishly. "Why do you want to treat me, anyway? I didn't do anything to earn it."
