Rowan sighed and pulled out his phone, scrolling through nearby breakfast places until he eventually found one that he was happy with. He showed the address to Eve. "Do you think that's fine?"
Rowan sighed and pulled out his phone, scrolling through nearby breakfast places until he eventually found one that he was happy with. He showed the address to Eve. "Do you think that's fine?"
"If you chose it on your own, then yes," Eve replied, typing the address into her car's GPS to get the directions.
"Alright…" Rowan turned off his phone once Eve had the address and closed his eyes, relaxing a bit.
Eve glanced over at him every so often as she drove. With closed eyes and a relaxed expression, he looked much younger.
Rowan didn't seem to notice Eve staring, and he didn't open his eyes again until they had arrived at the restaurant.
"Wake up, sleepy head." Eve nudged him. "We're here."
"Mmnh…? Oh, yay…" Rowan yawned and stretched before he got out of the car. "Sorry about that… didn't sleep great last night." He laughed nervously.
Eve frowned a bit. They'd both slept on the couch, and her night had been moderately okay. Anyway, she got out of the car and came over to him.
Rowan closed the door behind him as he got out and turned to notice Eve was already beside him. He was momentarily startled, but then headed off to go into the restaurant with her.
Eve entered the restaurant with Rowan in tow. "Hello," she greeted the cashier. "Table for two?"
"I'll be right with you!" the woman chirped, a bit too happy for the morning.
Rowan watched the woman with an expression that was difficult to decipher. "I never understood how people could be so chipper in the morning… I'm exhausted." He yawned and laughed softly. "Ah, well. To each their own, I guess." He seemed a bit more relaxed once they were seated.
Eve was excited when the pair got a window seat. She slipped into the booth across from Rowan and winked.
Rowan flushed at the wink and looked out the window, clearly a bit flustered. "U-Um… I'm pretty sure they have French toast here, s-so…"
A waitress approached them, but Eve waved her off. "A minute, please." She turned her attention to Rowan again, noticing the flush and the stutters. "Calm down," she teased.
"S… sorry…" Rowan rubbed at his cheeks with a soft sigh as though that would make his blush go away. "I'm just not used to this kinda thing…" He laughed weakly.
Eve tilted her head curiously. "Not used to what? Attention? Affection?"
"Ah… n-not particularly…" Rowan looked down at the table, fidgeting with his hands. "Not used to compliments when they're not empty, and only about my dancing abilities."
Eve reached out and took his hands in hers. "A word of advice? Start getting used to it."
Rowan looked up at Eve weakly. "This is all really foreign to me, to be honest… I'm not quite sure what to do with myself."
"Well for starters, look at the menu and pick something out to eat," Eve suggested. "That might be helpful seeing as we're in a restaurant."
"I didn't… alright." Rowan sighed and picked up the menu, looking through it to try and find something he wanted.
Eve laughed. "I know that's not what you meant, but I think our waitress is getting impatient." Her eyes cut to the girl, who was waiting by the check-in podium.
"Right, right… um…" Rowan looked through the menu and then closed it with a sigh. "I'll just get pancakes. That should be fine."
Eve nodded. "And I'll get French toast," she said with a wink.
"Sounds good…" When the waitress came back, he ordered and returned the menu.
