Darius nodded, lifting his hands up to Mara. He held them together and flat in front of her, offering her the ability to climb on instead of being picked up.
Darius nodded, lifting his hands up to Mara. He held them together and flat in front of her, offering her the ability to climb on instead of being picked up.
Mara stared at his hands for a moment before taking a slow shaky breath. This felt like a big risk… but it seemed smarter and safer than trying to walk on the ground beside him. She carefully took a step forward into his hand.
Darius kept his hands still as Mara stepped onto them, humming softly.
"Okay, you ready?" He asked, not moving until Mara gave him the go ahead.
“I… I think so.” she answered once she was in the center of his palm. Mara was so nervous about this but she wasn't going to back down now… Though she did decide to sit down.
"Alright." Darius stood, his hands still held flat and as still as he could. Once he was sure Mara was secure in her spot, he started walking to the door to the living room, keeping a close eye on his passenger.
Mara's breath caught in her throat as she was lifted. It wasn't that she was afraid of heights since she had been on every high shelf in this house and she thought it would be silly and very limiting for someone like her. Though she had to admit, she’d never been on a surface this high that moved before…
Well, she technically had, but as both of them knew she hadn't really been all there as it happened. Darius held his hands close to his chest, an extra precaution to keep Mara safe. It didn't take long for him at all to be back out in the living room, lifting Mara back up to the hole to her house.
Mara made herself take a few deep breaths and looked around as Darius carried her. It was a little strange being so exposed… She wouldn't deny she was relieved to see her home again and carefully slid off Darius's hand. “Thank you.” she said a little breathless still before she took a seat.
"You're welcome." Darius offered a small smile, lowering his hands as he looked at the small woman.
"Are you doing okay?" He was concerned, some, when he saw how she was looking.
Mara nodded slowly. “Just a little dizzy.” she admitted. “I’ll be alright… I’ve just never been flying before.” she added with a small smirk.
Darius chuckled some, nodding.
"Well, I must admit, I've never piloted before either."
Mara laughed a little with him, though she didn't really understand what piloted meant other than a quip back because of what she said. “Well… That wasn't too bad anyway.” she smiled at him.
"Good, I'm glad it wasn't," Darius said, nodding some. "I did my best to make sure you weren't jostled around."
“I noticed.” Mara nodded with a small smile, grateful for his effort. “It was definitely better than… than I thought it would be.”
"I'm glad it was, then. I really am sorry, that he grabbed you like that." Darius decided to pull a chair over this time, instead of sitting all the way over by the couch.
Mara shuddered a little at being reminded of that. “It’s not your fault.” she told him softly. She really didn’t blame him but they would have to be more careful in the future.
"Right. Still, I'm going to be moving the spare key, for sure, so everyone coming in has to at least knock." Darius offered a weak smile, shaking his head.
“That’ll help.” Mara agreed. “Plus when we get that curtain up…” she added looking at the actual hole, gauging how big it really was to see if she had anything to cover it.
The hole was sizable, seeing as Darius's entire head had gone through. He let out a sigh, crossing his arms.
"Here, I'll go get a ruler to see how big it is."
“Ok.” Mara nodded, standing up. “I’ll see what I have to work with.” she smiled at him. Apparently, the tiny woman liked doing projects like this.
Darius stood as well, nodding. So, he went back into his room, pulling open a few desk drawers before he finally found it. He made his way back, lifting the stick up to the hole.
Mara walked into her room and opened a tin box with the word “Altoid” written on it in red letters. She used it as storage for all kinds of her tools as well as some first aid gear in one half and her clothes on the other side. After a quick check, she pulled out a coil of string and a short nail before heading back to the main room.
Darius held the ruler up, humming softly.
"Well, this isn't too bad… it's less than a foot, at least…"
Mara looked up at the information and set her few tools on the table. “A foot… That's up to the 12 mark, right?” she asked, recognizing the stick he was holding.
"Yes, that's right," Darius confirmed, smiling some. He set the ruler down then, thinking.
