Mara had calmed down to more of a giggle but was still grinning at his humor. “There’s actually less on my side than on yours.” she pointed out.
Mara had calmed down to more of a giggle but was still grinning at his humor. “There’s actually less on my side than on yours.” she pointed out.
"Yes, quite true." Darius shook his head some, letting out a breath.
Mara chuckled once more before letting out a happy sigh to regain her breath and refocused on wrapping her hook cord.
Darius fell quiet as well, watching Mara wrapping her cord before looking away again. He really would have to look into how to fix the wall.
Eventually.
Despite being grabbed earlier, Mara was in no hurry for Darius to fix the wall. He could take as much time as he wanted or needed to.
Darius was going to take his time, for sure. He smiled some, looking up at the woman again.
Mara glanced up as she finished with her hook and smiled a little at Darius before she stood up to put away the tool since she didn't believe she would need it again today.
Darius smiled back, settling down in his seat.
"So," he said, thinking a moment, "I've got another question- what do you do for fun?"
“Fun?” Mara asked, looking thoughtful before answering. “Well, I sketch a little, I like cooking… Sewing can be relaxing too. Umm, what else…” she trailed off, trying to think of more looking up at Darius. “What do you do for fun?”
"Me? I watch a lot of television, and I make figurines. I do a lot of internet browsing, too, on my computer." Darius shrugged some, forgetting it wasn't very likely Mara would know much about those things.
Mara tilted her head in confusion. She thought she had heard of television and computers before… She just had no experience with them. However, the other thing he mentioned caught her interest. “You make… figurines?” she asked as she tried out the new word. “How do you do that? I thought you didn't do much with your hands.”
"Well…" Darius chuckled nervously. "I don't really make them. Some of my friends play a game, uh… Warhammer something? But they have figurines that they ask me to paint. I don't know much at all about the game, though, and I just paint them for fun."
“Oh.” Mara nodded, though she didn't understand why someone would play a game called Warhammer. “So you paint them and your friends play with them.”
"Right." Darius nodded in turn. "They don't ask me to paint new ones very often, though."
“Do they already come painted?” she asked. It made sense to Mara that when something was new, you wanted to keep it that way as long as possible. Things often worked better like that.
"No, they don't, but my friends are the ones who put them together." Darius hummed some, thinking.
"Ah! Here, I can show you some pictures." He reached into his pocket, pulling out his phone to find the photos he had taken.
Mara perked up at the mention of pictures and moved her seat closer so she could have a better view.
Darius looked through his phone, finally holding it up and showing off a picture of one of the figures he had painted.
"See?"
Mara tilted her head slightly as she looked at the image. “What is that?” she finally asked, not recognizing it and a little confused by the phone too.
"This is a picture of one of the figures," Darius explained. "I, ah… I don't really know much about the game, it never interested me enough. Still, though, I find it fun to paint them."
(I made a thing with a nameless child and a giant if you wanna check it out https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fv7NEdGPVRshAtjDlkj2bQypJwBSUbVowHHKUqs4cgs/edit)
“No, I figured that part. I meant I've never seen something like that before. I don't know what it’s a figure of.” she explained.
(Looks pretty cute so far. I’ll keep reading it.)
"Ah! Well- I uh, I'm not really sure myself," Darius admitted, laughing nervously at himself. "I think it's some kind of warrior? I have no idea…"
(Thank yeuuuuu)
“Ok.” Mara nodded understanding that much of the explanation. “Well, it's well painted. I can tell that easily.”
(You're welcome!)
Darius blushed some, nodding.
"Thank you," he said, glancing away with his blush.
Mara laughed a little when she noticed his face turn red. “You’re welcome.” she replied. Honestly, she was tempted to tease him with some kind of nickname… but she just couldn't think of a good one.
